  1. anyone who suggests that anyone who suggests Weaver doesn't know Sox history well does not know sox history well. did that make sense? We have a catcher now who there was a lot of bad blood with for a long time. Also, there was a CF we went after pretty hard this offseason who had bad blood with us for a long time. There are other smaller examples. It's a business, don't forget that. $ is what talks.
  2. ya, 3.5-4 is a little too much. I guess if he would do 2.5 or less for 1 year, I would like the signing. I'm just saying he is better than Owens, and like I said, he might like to come back here, with a chance to get some time (Quentin off injury, Swisher backing up 1b, Dye injury prone) and in a hitters park with no pressure. If no Patterson, I won't feel jilted at all. Just saying.
  3. in no way am I suggesting he lead off, as you could check in my post in starting lineup. he would be the 4th OF. He was hitting in a pitchers park I believe in Baltimore for a team that sucked. The players didn't even want to play there. He did struggle at the end of his Cubs career, but that was a lot of the pressure from the Cubs fans and coaches. Why not give him a chance at a low pressure situation, hitters park, with a chance to stick it to an old club? His obs may be lower than Owens, but don't tell me his ceiling isnt higher.
  4. Patterson was 4th in the AL in stolen bases. I know Owens is fast as well, but, he can't steal if he's not on base. Patterson might like to come back to CHI to stick it to the Cubs and make them sorry. He seems like that type of guy. Weaver, if less than 3 million and 1 year, why not? He can pitch at times, and might be ok with a full offseason to fix that tired arm. Not real excited about him, but Colon is not the answer. I'd rather give Weaver a try. Well, I'd rather not give him a try, but we may need it. What other options are there? Livan? Matt O'Connor? Rodrigo Lopez? Not too good.
  5. Here's my projected lineup and my projected BA and HR, I'll leave RBIs alone for now. Quentin .274 13 HRs Cabrera .291 8 HRs Thome .270 32 HRs Konerko .302 38 HRs Swisher .293 34 HRs Dye .311 30 HRs Fields .258 28 HRs AJP .277 12 HRs Uribe .244 16 HRs That's a total of 211 HRs with these starters alone. A healthy Crede could put up 28 HRs or so as well if switched out. Bench Crede Hall Owens Ramirez Ozuna Richar Not any more HRs coming from there, minus Crede.
  6. i like it. at worst we don't do well and trade him for some quality prospects at the trade deadline. look what texas got for gagne. they got a potential #3 starter and 2 spects. i hope we start unloading some garbage in uribe, macdougal, and aardsma. try and get some low level high ceiling guys for them maybe? also, we don't have enough pieces on this team to get bedard alone, never the less roberts. fields, richar, floyd, danks, egbert, shelby
  7. another soldier talking about Dr. Paul. FACT: The military donations are highest for Dr. Paul. FACT: Ron has nearly as much and sometimes more experience than the rest of the field. He is also 72 years old and has seen a lot go down. He also hasn't suggested 100 years in Iraq like the other 70+ year old. He was in the Air Force in the Korean War, did you miss that in your reading? So maybe I don't need to read anymore. Thanks though for the suggestion. Did you get that from when Ron has suggested other candidates read up on different subjects they fail to know enough about? He ran for President in 1988, which is before Obama was even in government. Richardson and Biden are no longer in the race, so maybe your the one not in tune (again). Dodd, who cares? Thompson, oooo 10 years in Congress, only 7 behind Ron. Oh wait, many as a lobbyist? That's honorable. Maybe that's where he got his spunk and arrogance. Huckabee, gov of Arkansas? Awesome, we had one of those already not too long ago. Apparently that's the way to get to become the President of the US. Hilary? Are you kidding me. All we need is a President who will cry to get her way and/or votes (SHE DID DO THIS, SO I'M NOT GENDER BIASED). Do we need to have the Clintons and Bushs' running this country from 1988-2008+? That's the best we can do? No wonder we are focked. Romney is just a jerk from what I see, don't like him flip flopping. He was gov of Massachussats, I guess he has some good experience, just don't like him. Guliani, don't get me started. His own kids don't like him. He will start a personal war with the terrorists that attacked his city. That's 90% of his campaign. Edwards is ok, just nothing special. Anyone I missed?
  8. ya, i love the patriot act, and the internet being regulated. can't wait to be arrested for talking about illegal activities (non terrorist) on my cell phone and over the internet. maybe there can be a pop up saying "you've been arrested". also, anyone who thinks we shouldn't pull out of Iraq immediatly, talk to (1) a current or recently former member of the military (who supports Ron much more than anyone else) ( ) and (2) go enlist to make sure we leave the "right way". I'm sure they will take you, no matter what age. I'm sure the never will be born children and grandchildren and so on of the US military members who will die before we finally leave thank you for your thoughts into why we should not leave right now. And my theory on who should be President, IF NOTHING ELSE, is that it should be the MOST EXPERIENCED (check) and MOST KNOWLEDGABLE (check) person who wants the job. Simply. Also, Alpha Dog is just trying to stir people up and refute everything just to make them mad. I do this, too. But not over the internet like a 9 year old. Just saying.
  9. listen to bureau, he knows whats going on and went on. Ron Paul is a strict Constitutionalist, which means he first and foremost defers to the Constitution. He then defers to the Congress, which should (but many times does not) listen to the Constitution. Ron has never voted to raise taxes. Ron has never voted for an unbalanced budget. Ron has never voted for the Iraq War. Ron has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership. Ron has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch. Ron has never voted to raise congressional pay. Ron has never taken a government-paid junket. Ron voted against the Patriot Act. Ron votes against regulating the Internet. Ron voted against NAFTA and CAFTA. Ron votes against the United Nations. Ron votes against the welfare state. Ron votes against reinstating a military draft. Ron votes to preserve the constitution. Ron votes to cut government spending. Ron votes to lower healthcare costs. Ron votes to end the war on drugs. Ron votes to protect civil liberties. Ron votes to secure our borders with real immigration reform. Ron votes to eliminate tax funded abortions and to overturn Roe v Wade. Ron votes to protect religious freedom. First off, Ron has taken blame for not proofreading his newsletters. These were released strategically by the powers that be to try and sidetrack his campaign of freedom. He is not a racist, as you should be able to see especially by his push for civil liberties being reinstated. He also does not want to throw a former employee under the bus for their writings, that is not his style. Give him that at least. As far as the messengers go, we are people from all walks of life. We have heard his message (AKA TAKE THE MOTHER FOCKING TIME TO LISTEN TO HIS VIEWS WITHOUT IMMEDIATLY SAYING HE IS A JOKE AND DOESN'T HAVE A CHANCE LIKE SHEEP WHO ONLY LISTEN TO WHAT FOX NEWS AND CNN TELL THEM TO THINK, (my little rant)) and understand the importance of spreading it. We will do whatever it takes. Sure, some of us do it in weird or pushy ways, but when you have all kinds of different people, they will do different things. Would you like to be labeled as a murderer and a theif because one small group of US Soldiers stole and murdered a family in Iraq? How about baby killers because of a bomb that killed a family? When you see what he is pushing for, you will realize that the end usually will justify the means in whatever we do to spread the message of freedom Ron is working on. Let me fill you in on some of his views, because most of you would never look into it. I also did this at the top assuming many of you would not read this whole thing. Go Sox
  10. Check him out at www.ronpaul2008.com seriously, you will like him and his views. Screw the fact that the media says he doesn't have a chance. He does, and he should. He is what we need.
  11. Tyner from MIN? He's an quick little slap hitter. I've hated watching the Sox play him, why not sign him cheap? He was non tendered.
  12. Hello everybody, we're back. Hopefully we can be back at the ballpark, supporting A-Row this summer, but that's another conversation all together. Just wanted to chime in on two things. (1) Miguel Cabrera. This guy is a stud. He is right there with Pujols hitting wise, just lesser known becuase he plays for the marlins. If the rumors are true, and he is losing weight and working on speed, he could play 4 positions (1B,3B, LF, RF). He is also only 24. Let me repeat that, he is ONLY 24. Josh Fields is 24, but is 5 months older than Miggy as he is turning 25 in a week. Who right now is the better player? At best, Josh's ceiling is a 40 HR guy who bats .275. Miguel could be one of the best players in MLB history. He would also excel at a hitters park like the Cell, which Miami stadium is not. Now, I'm not bashing Josh Fields, I love the guy. However, I am partial to Crede and wouldn't mind keeping him as a 3B/DH combo this year as an insurance policy. Jimmy can't hit LH pitching that well anyway. He could play some 3B as well when Miggy plays OF. Now, we would depleat the farm system, but the farm system is what it is for a reason. We can replenish by making better draft and personnel decisions. We can also replace a SP such as Danks or Floyd with a low cost veteran FA such as a Colon or Clement. Hell, sign a few of them and see who pans out. Loaiza worked out pretty well back in the day. (2) Rauch for Uribe + Cash? Saw that the Nats are looking to use Rauch to get a shortstop. They went after Guzman a few years back after his time in MIN, and he is very similiar to Uribe. Might help or hurt. We would have to throw in a prospect (or Sisco, Aardsma, or MacDougal) and some $, but he would help the bullpen or the starting rotation. I always liked him.
  13. ya the customer service sucks really bad... never got through in 3 attempts and no response to emails. When it works, it's totally worth the $. I get to watch every sox and marlins game up here in michigan. i have high speed internet in an apartment complex, and it rarely works at night bc i guess high # of users. I can rarely ever watch at 700K, which is one of the reasons I got premium. oh well, what are ya gonna do.
  14. cerbaho, not sure when you talked to him, but he was always beyond cocky. at least now he is coming to terms with it. when he got drafted, he had "superstar" or something along those lines painted on the side of his car. i went to hs with him and he was nice enough, but extremely cocky. there are definatly nicer people it could happen to. but i still would like to see him pitch for da sox.
  15. Ya just my thoughts on why Joe did, but the arbitration information is true, check it out in the CBA.
  16. First off there is something about the MLB barganing agreement that very few (if any) fans know about. The MLB is NOT a split the baby arbitraiton system. It is an all for one or one for all system. Example: Joe Crede claims he should be payed $7 million this upcoming season. The White Sox claim he should be payed $4 million this upcoming season. The 3 arbitraitors rule using many factors including a mathmatical GDP equation and production rating system. They MUST CHOOSE either the $7 million figure or the $4 million figure. They can't determine that $5 million is fair. My thought on why Crede chose to take the $5 million figure is most likely because of the performance clauses and possibly a bonus escalator clause. Those would not be included in a arbitration deal. Also, in arbitration, you have 3 SANE people who use common sense and look at all angles to get the true value of the player to the team within the market. Most players are overpaid compared to their actual performance, so just taking the money is sometimes safer. His injury history and spot as the 4th or 5th best hitter on the team also would hurt his arbitration figure. FYI - The NHL does the "split the baby" arbitration. If Havlat wanted $10 million a year and the Hawks were offering $5 the arbitrators could give anything in between.
  17. RHP Garland LHP Buehrle RHP Contreras RHP Vazquez RHP Floyd/Haegar RHP Floyd/Haegar RHP Aardsma LHP Sisco RHP Macdougal LHP Thornton RHP Jenks (Masset, Gio, Logan, Phillips) LF Posednik 2B Iguchi DH Thome 1B Konerko RF Dye C Pierzinski 3B Crede SS Cintron/Uribe CF Anderson (Mackowiak, Hall, Terrero, Sweeney, Ozuna) Just thought everyone should see that. Garland is solid. If Vaz and Count can win 15 with an era around 4 and Buehrle can pitch like he used to, that's 4 tough starters. Someone will step up at the #5 spot. Maybe it will be a non roster invitee like Loaiza? We have much more depth than we used to when we had problems. Our offense, still with the best 3,4,5 in baseball, could still be real good. Anderson should hit over .250 hopefully, and if Pods can turn it back to first half 2005, or even close, Iguchi will improve and our offense will be back in business. This team as it is now can contend well, but I have a feeling KW is not done. He will add another OF, hopefully.
  18. A lot of people here are being negative, just as they were when Lee was traded for Pods and Viz, when we signed AJ, traded for Thome (sorry Arow, still a good trade for us, you'll be back after next season), ect. I hate to say it but a lot of people on this board wouldn't have anything to say if they weren't b****ing about something. We are acting too much like Philly or New York fans guys, come on. I want you to consider some things about these moves. With mediocre pitching going for obscene amounts, what happens when Buehrle leaves, they buy out Vaz, and Contreras retires? Anybody? Sign pitchers like Lilly, Padilla, and Marquis for $12 million a year long term? How will we go out and replace JD, AJ, Pods, Iguchi, and Crede? Or how will we be able to resign them? Anyone have an answer? Ok, anyone have a REAL answer that would work? Well that's why we're not the GM of this team. KW knows that in this age of free agency. you need to have home grown pitching so that you can (A) go out and sign position players to replace the ones that leave and (B) trade the young pitchers for replacement position players/pitchers (Thome, MacDougal, ect). 1st lets look at the Garcia trade. But first, I want everyone who moaned about Freddy's ability to hold runners on AT ALL who also moaned about this trade to slap themselves. We got back Gio (who a year ago was a huge loss to us as an org when we traded him for Rowand) and a potential long term starter in FLoyd who hopefully will improve after leaving Philly and getting a 2nd chance with a good pitching coach. Garcia is a FA after this year and will demand 12-13 mil a year with a good season (good, not great). He can't hold on runners, is losing velocity, is moving past his prime, and shows discontent with his teamates after a mistake. My thought is that this trade was a good trade based on possible return. It may not work out, but the upside could be big. The other small moves by Kenny have been solid, everyone pretty much agrees. Pods sucks, and we pretty much all agree. But at the prices of a Pierre and MAtthews, Jr, we can deal with Pods for 3 mil 1 yr. Now the much hated McCarthy trade. I like McCarthy about as much as anyone else. I will miss him and I really hope he does do well. Texas is not a threat to us or any other AL team as far as I'm concerned. Not yet. Although I would have rather gotten Michael Young, I can deal with Danks and Masset. And yes, I do not know much about them. What I do know is that they both have tremendous upside. Would I rather have seen Baldelli or Crawford for him? Yes, but I have a feeling KW would have done it if it was possible. We trade a young pitcher whos arbitration clock is running, whose ceiling is prolly a good #2, for a pitcher who still hasen't started, is left handed and has a similair ceiling. Anyone tell me who will be our LH starting pitcher without Buehrle? Anyone? Also, we get a flamethrower who can be great in the bullpen. My point I guess is that KW is building our pitching depth with the thought process more is better. The more pitching prospects, the more who will turn out well, the less overpaid free agents we will have to sign. So, relax, have a good Christmas and New Years, and
  19. here's the thing... we have to SWEEP Min @ Min if we are more than a game back. People forget this. 2 games back going into that series doesnt mean we can win 2 of 3 (gain 1 game). So unless we gain 3.5 on them before the series, we HAVE TO SWEEP.
  20. other than gooch being a retard...why wasent joe jumping up and down waving him home? a few waves did nothing. come on guys, lets care what happens.
  21. perez was the worst player on the cubs...now he is the worst player on the tigers and has cost them many runs with his poor defense.
  22. cano just made a great play that saved a run, maybe 2 in the 8th. GO YANKS!!!
  23. can reggie sanders play left field? yes. please send pods away.
  24. anyone have the website that has all the online radio listings for all the mlb teams? I was able to listen the the twins/sox game the other day on my comp.
