  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 10, 2011 -> 02:06 PM) Now about the bullseye targets that seem to be causing people to kill that appeared on that website? Looks like the DLC has also used a 'bullseye' map targeting seats http://www.dlc.org/ndol_ci.cfm?contentid=2...7&subid=171
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 10, 2011 -> 01:00 PM) I always do 61 pushups and 151 crunches while doing the dishes. impressive
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 10, 2011 -> 11:56 AM) I actually agree with some of your points, but think for a second about part of the long term impact here. If you make the pension system a lot less "special" for teachers, firefighters, cops, etc., you will have a much harder time recruiting for those jobs. You will either get lower quality, or have to increase pay or other benefits (401k match is a good start), or both. That means higher costs of public service and/or lower quality results. I'm actually OK with paying a little more in taxes for those folks to be of higher quality, but many people won't be. A choice has to be made. IMO, raising salaries wouldn't be necessary, considering we are going to have high unemployment levels for the foreseeable future. A lot of qualified people would love to have a firefighter or teaching job.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 10, 2011 -> 10:12 AM) .give me examples of these people on the left who are advocating second amendment solutions to our problems, who are saying don't retreat, reload took me about 2 seconds to find this gem. there's a lot more as well if i wanted to waste my time digging them up. http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2008/06/14/o...we-bring-a-gun/ “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,”
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 08:40 PM) If you need to have your side validated by somebody else's body count, that is fine. I'm sorry you support that. A lot of this 'climate of hate' is being created by the Democrats. Just look at their opportunistic and slanderous rhetoric after this tragedy. They need to need to tone it down numerous notches.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 03:40 PM) The rants about the government controlling his mind through grammar appear similar to the rants of a particular conspiracy theorist. well, that explains the incoherent writing style of the shooter. David Wynn Miller has claimed in court to be the king of Hawaii as well as the head of the Unity-States of Our World. Miller also claims his language is "for the stopping-claims of the Theft, Cheating, Fraud, Slavery and War." Oh, and apparently he is insane (just in case you were wondering). Looks like there is a strong case that this guy was just a follower in a far left loon cult.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 02:09 PM) I found it fascinating that a Senior Republican Senator was willing to say this, but not on the record. Another interesting part of the article, from a veteran Democratic operative:
  8. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 12:37 PM) i suggest we let both things remain available without the added violence-inciting rhetoric. Oh, no no no. Neither can remain. They are the violence-inciting rhetoric. How can we just let Ron Paul run around talking about the gold standard? It causes violence!
  9. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 11:32 AM) lol amazing. i love people like you. who said anything about banning anything? taking a point and pushing it to its extreme. just like mr. limbaugh and the rest of your party does. the violent liberal rhetoric of Anti-Flag combined with crazy Ron Paul speeches pushed him over the edge. A potent combination. What do you suggest we do? How can we live in a society that has both things available for the public to hear?
  10. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 11:15 AM) wow. i'm glad you know him well enough to be informed of his political leanings. I don't, but his close friends do. Here's what they are saying. http://twitter.com/caitieparker Maybe we can ban Rush Limbaugh and whatever music Jared Loughner listened to. That should keep us safe.
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 09:00 AM) Main article of the Sun Times this morning: Some left wing loon shoots Gabrielle Giffords and the Suntimes is mad at FOX news. Classic.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 07:28 PM) The sadder thing is that bodies aren't even cold yet, and people are already trying to spin this for political gain. Indeed.
  13. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 05:46 PM) I think the point is that there are some people that are really unintelligent and listen to the political talk and take it as gospel. Is Palin or Rush to blame, no but the over the top one sided view causes those that are not bright enough to understand that there is an other side to react irrationally. Rush Limbaugh doesn't seem relevant in this case at all. The guy is burning US flags and calling the US a terrorist country in his Youtube clips. I guess if anything you could blame MSNBC. But that would be stupid as well.
  14. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 05:28 PM) this is what happens when you encourage an atmosphere of radical, irrational fear and hatred and use ridiculous rhetoric like Sarah Palin does. Unbelievable. It was just a matter of time I guess. Doesn't really seem to be a factor in this case. Blaming this on Sarah Palin is fairly absurd.
  15. This guy is obviously mentally ill.
  16. FOX news is reporting she is still alive. critical condition and in surgery.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 05:33 PM) Come on over to Indiana! Everything is cheaper here! doubling the corporate income tax does make our state a hell of a lot less competitive.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 05:49 PM) Do you really think that there haven't already been substantial budget cuts in that state? There hasn't been nearly enough cuts. The private sector in Illinois cannot support the current state government spending levels. These new taxes will run jobs out of the state and lower income. This is typical Democrat stealing from the poor to give to the rich and entitlement class.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 12:09 PM) And now, he's actually dealing with a budget deficit, rather than pretending that some mythical "rooting out waste and fraud" will somehow make it all better. lol. there is a s*** load of fraud and waste in Illinois spending. spending needed to be cut.
  20. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 09:06 AM) Dunno if this is the place to start this discussion, but it's financial "news." Top Illinois Democrats (Madigan and Quinn included) seem to agree on a plan to increase the state income tax by 75% and add an extra dollar on cigarette sales. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2011/01/06/tax...-than-expected/ Ignoring the SHOCKING news that Quinn is agreeing to a deal that he said he'd veto during the election season (any increase over 1%), what do people think? I think we all know taxes are going to go up some time, but I dunno if this is the time to do it. The corporate tax in Illinois is also going to nearly double from what I've read. Very bad move, as well as the other new taxes. Time for a recall.
  21. The Illinois Democrat party in action http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-01-03 /i...to-produce.html://http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-...to-produce.html I've quoted some of the 'highlights'
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 2, 2011 -> 01:57 PM) Actually, it's the sound that the word ends with. Say it to yourself, "Dem-o-Crat", you almost have to push it out hard, while you have to move your voice back up to add the extra soft "ic" at the end. It's one of those classic, focus group response monitoring tricks. Change the party name if it's that much of a 'handicap'. But I suppose I could still call them the Democrat party if I wanted. Kind of like when someone tries to give them self a new nickname, but everyone ignores it and just uses the old one.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 2, 2011 -> 12:35 PM) Because polling data actually shows it has more of a negative connotation. The Democrat party has no one to blame but themselves for making 'Democrat' a bad word.
  24. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 1, 2011 -> 08:16 PM) Why do conservatives always say the "Democrat" party? because they know Democrats hate it. haha.
