This article from The New Republic pretty much sums up how bad this extended nomination is for the Democratic Party.

I, for one, do not wish Miguel Cabrera anything more than the best. The kid's great, and going to be one of the best, and just because he plays for a rival doesn't mean I want him to "eat himself to death" or get injured or anything like that. The Tigers made a bold trade for a player everyone knew was on the market. The White Sox and 28 other teams missed out on acquiring a player who could go down as one of the all-time greats. I only wish our pitching staff were of the level that I could truly look forward to some great matchups for years to come. Regardless, watching Bobby flash the gas and the big hook trying to sit down Miggy in the 9th with runners on is going to make for some entertaining baseball for years to come. I look forward to the White Sox taking on the best and hopefully beating the best in years to come.

I too was quite pissed when Radulov scored in the shootout. GRAPHIC: Radulov, 0-7 in shootout chances. Me: "Don't worry, Khabby will let it in." Radulov scores 5-hole. It's actually unfathomable that the Blackhawks ever lose a shootout when Patrick Kane is automatic. The kid is a focking stud. EDIT FOR ILLINIKRUSH: I would have said "Lalime will let it in" if he were playing as well!

Alexei Ramirez at 2B in 2008 is going to be exciting as hell. The Sox very well could have the next Alfonso Soriano, who wasn't much younger than Alexei when he made his big league debut as an undersized, poorly fielding 2B who smacked the hell out of the ball and ran like the wind. I really hope Alexei can be quite productive.

He wasn't released. He's been DFA'd which means he's on waivers and if he clears he can be sent to the minors. Chances are the Orioles will pick him up off the scrap heap.
