Ebay's demise
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 03:35 PM) This news makes me really uncomfortable with Ebay, particularly buying more expensive things like jerseys. Read the article, I don't see an issue with this. Most folks use Buy It Now anyway so I don't see how buyers can really be left negative feedback. It's the sellers we need to be careful of, not the buyers. That's what non-paying high bidder is for anyway. If they were trying to get rid of feedback against sellers that'd be a different story.

Noah Lowry/Matt Cain (for some reason?)
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 02:38 PM) He's also only thrown 200 innings one time in 3 full seasons at the major league level, and put up a 1.55 WHIP last year; John Danks had a 1.54 WHIP last year and an ERA of 5.50. I have no reason to believe that Lowry would put up an ERA below 5.00 in the Cell, so until I saw it, I won't even think about believing it. Yes, the Sox would be lucky to have him, but I really don't think he does anything for the Sox except take away MLB experience from Danks and Floyd. I didn't say get Lowry so he can start. He'd be much better to this team as a 6th guy in case someone gets injured... not everything has to be cut and dry. He'd be a nice long guy out of the bullpen and a good emergency option, and has more value to the White Sox than Joe Crede would (and his taking away at bats from Fields).

Noah Lowry/Matt Cain (for some reason?)
For those who think Lowry would not be enough for Crede, i honestly feel we'd be lucky to get him. The guy's only 27, and has a career 4.03 era with 3/4 years being under 4. In the AL he'd be capable of a 4.5 or better, and he'd be great insurance in case Danks/Contreas/Floyd falter... and something has to be said for the fact that he was 14-8 on a team that gave Matt Cain a 7-16 record

Comcast adding WCIU HD (SOXNET)
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 11:11 PM) To me, the channel still looks like crap in HD. That's because right now none of it is really an HD broadcast. When they play old episodes of Martin or whatever it's obviously not going to be HD, but when they play Sox/Cubs games it will look identical to WGN's HD broadcast I presume. Of course, that's only at home, because for some reason in the year 2008 it's still too expensive and not worth the money for them to acquire a road game HD feed for home viewers who pay upwards of $100/month for their cable. /rant

ANALYZING NICK SWISHER
Nick Swisher + Josh Fields = mucho strikeouts. Fields is a lock to break the White Sox record.

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 04:41 PM) UH OH! Just found a HUGE problem. Thanks to my wife for catching this for me. I got a piece of mail from the "Cook County Clerk's Office" that had all the election information: date, time, early voting sites, how to vote, ect.. the problem.... they told me the wrong place to go!! I live in Roselle, but it was telling me to go vote in Schuamburg. Seemed kinda odd... but ok. BUT, the place where i was to vote was pretty far down the road. Didn't seem very close. My wife pulled up voterinfonet.com and checked to see if she was registered. She wasnt, but she noticed I was and my voting place was DIFFERENT than the one sent out by the "Cook County Clerk's Office". It's much closer than the other place and is actually in Roselle. This could be a problem come tomorrow. I had no issues and got my Obama vote in this morning. There was a lot of turnout for 6:45AM as I was the 129th person to show up.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 07:35 AM) It sure doesn't hurt to play on the best team money can buy... Considering the salary cap I think the fact that the Detroit Red Wings have continued to stay so dominant is quite impressive.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 09:02 PM) Piece of advice then...plan for your caffeine supply early. Because it's going to be a LONG night. For sure. I only have to be up at 6:30 to get ready for work, so if I'm in bed by 5am ill be alright.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 4, 2008 -> 08:54 PM) In your time zone, unless you go to sleep pretty darn late, the odds of that are low. Because California could quite literally come down to the district by district counts, and there's no way that kind of detail will be available early in the evening. I've got XBOX Live to keep me entertained until they finalize. I won't be going to bed until I know what went down.

Tomorrow should be very entertaining regardless... hope I don't have to be in a s***ty mood before bed.

American Gladiators
Agreed. The other guy could be spotted 15 seconds (30 points) and Evan could still catch him and beat him. He's unbeatable.

Who is dieting?
As some may know I started eating a tad better (just watching the calories) and doing basic workouts at home a while ago... went from 204 to 196 in the last 9 days... if i keep this up I can easily hit 185 by the time i head to the dominican at the end of the month. The key is to count your calories and to get moving. Also, make sure you eat breakfast and you'll really be rocking.

2007-08 NBA Thread
I'm done with Reinsdorf as Bulls chairman. Had he approved the Tyrus/Noc deal (as rumored before and confirmed in THIS article) the Bulls lineup looks much better, but it would have also allowed Pax the opportunity to move Wallace to the Lakers who were holding out for Gasol. C Noah (assuming the Wallace deal below) PF Gasol SF Deng SG Gordon PG Hinrich Had they done that it would have blocked the Lakers from Gasol as well, thus forcing them to take Wallace for cap relief at season’s end (with the rumored Kwame+ return). We’d have been very good this year and with the available cash from the Wallace deal by letting kwame go the Bulls would have been lined up to get that final piece in the offseason and match up with Orlando and Boston for best in the East. It could have been rather easy if only Reinsdorf had been willing to do what owners in major markets that sell-out all the time are expected to do.

- Santana Traded to the Mets
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 2, 2008 -> 11:43 AM) I love taking it in the ear I believe that's a play on the classic line from Goodfellas, if that helps at all Wite.- 2007-08 NBA Thread
My prediction. The Lakers are going to trade Lamar Odom in a deal for Jason Kidd. Lakers have always wanted him, he's always wanted them. It's going to happen. C Bynum PF Gasol SF Walton SG Bryant PG Kidd It's going to happen.- 2007-08 NBA Thread
OK, I officially hate John Paxson. The Bulls could have dealt much more and still had a very respectable team to put around Gasol. The Lakers could win the Championship THIS year with that team once Bynum gets back. They had the best record in the Western Conference before Bynum went down.- Now that Santana is Traded To The Mets/ Go for Crisp
I'm actually all about adding Crisp, but I do want to see a lot of Quentin as well.- 2007-2008 NHL Catch All Thread
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 31, 2008 -> 12:56 PM) 1 of the 6 goals were weak as the team was completely dominated in every period, but hey, like I said, whatever helps you sleep at night as the resident hockey expert. If you think goaltending is the only issue (which is all you ever post about), good luck. Man, I never said I was the resident hockey expert, and I post about more than just goaltending. Lay off it and stop trying to start things. Khabibulin is the highest paid player on this team. He deserves to be held accountable moreso than say, Adam Burrish. If Bulin were playing like he was signed to (not his fault he got offered so much) then this team is in that game last night. Two of the first period goals were awful unless you consider the horrible angle he took on the first goal not his fault or his gaping 5 hole on the trickling puck for the 3rd goal not incredibly weak. I guess that's your call. He's been brutal and outplayed by Lalime, and at this point the Hawks should play the 'tender who gives them the best chance to succeed, and that's not Khabibulin. As for Forsberg, I doubt he'd sign here and he's not really what this team needs. Chances are he's going to a Cup Contender for a run here and will sit out half of next year or so. I think with Havlat we've already got one glass player too many!- Now that Santana is Traded To The Mets/ Go for Crisp
QUOTE(G&T @ Jan 31, 2008 -> 12:50 PM) Just to clarify, you mean "will make" correct? Or do you mean that Stone thinks the Sox need to make a move for Crisp? No, I mean he had a conversation with Reinsdorf and suggested the Sox make a move for Crisp. He told Reinsdorf that Crisp would be invaluable as a true CF who can defend well and is a likely bounce-back candidate.- Now that Santana is Traded To The Mets/ Go for Crisp
FYI, Steve Stone on 670 just said that he had a discussion with Reinsdorf yesterday and suggested the White Sox definitely make a move for Crisp. - Santana Traded to the Mets
