  1. This is a lot like the Bill Wirtz change in regime... you know, except for the willfully stepping down, the success, the general perception of caring, the winning championships, and just about everything else. In seriousness, Steinbrenner is the man, and hopefully he gets healthy enough that he can enjoy life outside of baseball for quite some time now.
  2. QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 05:50 PM) Pee Wee is very touching...in other ways. well played, Jeremy... well played.
  3. QUOTE(bigruss22 @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 05:01 PM) I just gotta give ya props on the sig, long live Arrested Development! Haha, thanks bro. It will forever live on in my heart!
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 11:13 AM) The speculation you read on that site is pretty much useless but Burrell for Crede? f***.Yes. I wouldn't even think twice. Agreed... I'm a Burrell fan.
  5. QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 11:04 AM) You think that's bad? I'm a faithful Grey's Anatomy watcher. Maybe I should of kept that to myself. I watch Grey's every week... it's phenomenal.
  6. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 01:55 AM) So I watched ER tonight, and really liked it. I'm just wondering if I can still keep my man card. The last man on the bandwagon? Ha, I watched that s*** since season one (because then my parents let me stay up later on Thursday nights, thats how old the motherf***ing show is)... it sucks huge ass compared to back in the day, and I will never watch it again.
  7. Bob Pulford was a huge POS. Ridding ourselves of him is key... rumor has it that Rocky wants some home games on television this year (someone who understands hockey + HD = climax) and next year we should see a full slate.
  8. Having beaten Brandon Webb... the Rockies will roll...
  9. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA AHAHAHA That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

    I hope people are paying attention, this show deserves its own thread and is getting better and better... Will Arnett (GOB from Arrested Development) was phenomenal last night trying to make Jack's "heart explode." I love it.

    This episode was a cut above the others... I liked the good/bad pizza, but the pizza delivery boy kidnapping was bad. 3 things stood out as phenomenal in this episode 1) Dwight vs. the Computer (with Jim/Pam's prank as well) 2) "Take a chance on me" trio of signers, two coming in over speakerphone! 3) Michael calling Ryan an assf*ck! (maybe assh*le, but I pick what I want, and it was funny)
  12. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 11, 2007 -> 10:17 AM) You just like to steal my ideas Two great minds...
  13. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 05:54 PM) Who exactly wants to get rid of Kotchman? FWIW, the trio of Shields, Figgins and Kotchman out-VORP'ed Konerko and Garland by a rather large margin (77.2 to 52). Even if you don't believe in VORP, those numbers show who's getting the better end of the deal, and that doesn't even take into account the ~$50 million off the books. As far as the Angel fans who want to get rid of Kotchman, let's hope that their GM is also in that camp. The more I think about a deal like this, the more I realize this deal would be a huge victory for the Sox -- arguably better than Kenny's swipe of Bartolo Colon. Wonder if they'd give up on Ervin Santana and put him in the deal instead of Shields. I know he hasn't performed away from Anaheim, but I still think he'd be a valuable chip to try to fix, moreso than a reliever who won't be dominating when this team is truly ready to compete again.
  14. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 11:31 AM) LOL, I love when stubborn people argue on this board Well, we have established that you both feel that you dont know what you are talking about(either of you) carry on, carry on Then there's the guy who just doesn't say anything relevant and takes no stance, but sure likes to b**** alot.
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 11:01 AM) I tried to read your post steve but all i saw was 12 inches of signature across my screen. The post of a defeated man. I shall take it.
  16. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 10:51 AM) I don't think Steve is advocating for a trade of Jenks for, say, Coco Crisp. He's just saying that if you get a really, really good deal, you take it, and I definitely agree. But I don't think that deal is coming. (Something like the Colon trade.) Exactly, I never said TRADE THE MO-f***-A! I said you all are overvaluing the closer role and if the right deal comes up you jump on it and laugh...
  17. QUOTE(Shadows @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 10:45 AM) Well you're wrong, and I am willing to bet there isn't a team in the NFL that would take Lynch over Ronnie Brown I don't think you know what you are talking about.
  18. I think you are all over-valuing the role of closer. For the love of God, Borowski led the Major Leagues in saves with a 5+ era. This position isn't nearly as important as the others out there. We had an outstanding closer THIS year and what did that get us? A "90 loss dog"... ok, so you improve elsewhere and blow a few saves... whatever. Relievers are so streaky that you can pick up a Cliff Politte type for one year and he can be just as impressive as Bobby was. Relievers run so hot/cold, that I don't give a damn. Bobby is more consistent than that, he is good, but I just don't care... if you can get other positions filled up by moving a Bobby Jenks, I am all for that.
  19. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 10:33 AM) 1. 65 of the most critical innings of the season. 2. So a team that has only a few strengths, you want them to trade one of the small number of those, who happens to be one of the best AND youngest AND cheapest closers in baseball? Why on earth would you do that, unless you got some kind of can't-refuse offer? 3. What exactly do you think Jenks will net you? I was arguing the point of not trading him. People in this thread talk like you can't deal Bobby. If you can get a deal that improves your team elsewhere, I don't give a damn how good your closer is, he gawn imo.
  20. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 9, 2007 -> 09:58 PM) HAHA I SAW WILLIE'S CAR we get it. you love willie.
  21. QUOTE(Shadows @ Oct 9, 2007 -> 02:48 PM) Wise up Steve, I thought you were more knowledgeable than this I am... and you are very obviously a Miami homer who wears your heart on your sleeve. That's not a horrible thing, btw, but I stand by the fact that Marshawn Lynch > Ronnie Brown in talent.
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 09:35 AM) Ah, well that proves he would have underthrown that pass. I stand corrected. Well s***, he could have play-action faked, ran back to the one yard line and done cart-wheels to the endzone with his pants off... but he didn't and his track record suggests he wouldn't have... just like his track record suggests he wouldn't have even seen Desmond Clark and probably would have thrown to the first option on that play, which wasn't Clark.
  23. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 09:31 AM) You have had a hard on for trading Bobby all year long. Did he kick your dog or something. This is the first time in a long time we have a good closer and the first thing you want to do is spin him for prospects. He is young, and he is cheap. And dont give me the well we could get a Borowski type guy, because those types won't play well at the Cell. Ask the rest of our pen how getting the ball up works in our park in the summer. To me you build your pen backwards from Bobby. You have a Loogy in Boone, Waserman looks like he will stick. This is your starting point. Fill the rest from there. I like your love of Bobby, but I am of the belief that trading him would be the best thing. Yeah, its nice that we have a guy who pitches 65 innings a year, SIXTY FIVE INNINGS WTF, but put that in perspective. If we can get some valuable pieces who play 9 innings a game and have some upside that's a no-brainer. You have to have a lead before you can get a save, and selling high on a RELIEVER, no matter how good is something I can totally agree upon with an organization that has so many flaws.
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 10, 2007 -> 01:10 AM) He's 4 years away from free agency. 2005 didn't count as a full season so 2007 is only his second year of service time. You might want to check that out... dude pitched a lot in 2005 (and was called up July 5)... if 2005 didn't count then I'd think the MLBPA would have something to say about that... teams would do it all the time.
  25. QUOTE(Shadows @ Oct 9, 2007 -> 01:40 PM) Thats just ridiculous Tell me why. I love how Ronnie Brown has three good weeks in three years and all of the sudden he's amazing. Marshawn Lynch is the real deal, Ronnie Brown is Cedric Benson with an offensive line.
