  1. QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) IIRC, either Ozzie or Kenny said at SoxFest that Brian would bat 8th and Crede would bat 9th. word
  2. Well, based on sabremetrics... this should be our lineup (based on 2005 OPS)- batters projected to be starters... 1B Paul Konerko (.909) RF Jermaine Dye (.846) 2b Iguchi (.780) 3B Crede (.756) C Pierzynski (.728) DH Thome (.712) SS Uribe (.712) LF Podsednik (.700) CF Anderson (.559) There you go, absolutely no point to this post... much like this entire pointless thread!
  3. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) I don't believe that. Failing last year would have been worse than anything. You can't expect to win the World Series every year. The postseason is mostly about how one team gets hot and wins the whole thing. Absolutely. I want it bad, and knowing what it feels like, I want it more. But I would not be crushed and it would ruin nothing if they didnt do it. 2005 will forever be etched in my memory.
  4. QUOTE(kevin57 @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 07:24 AM) It's a game in which we Sox "fanatics" (hence called the 'core of the core') get together for food, brew, and a game where we can out-analyze each other... a good time guaranteed. You get to actually meet other people on this board and other Sox' boards. can't f***in wait.
  5. I probably will come to this...

  8. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 02:59 PM) Fireworks/Holiday weekend....just a guess. I dont give a s*** if they blow up an atomic bomb... sold out against the royals?? haha
  9. QUOTE(Adam G @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) Did I read this correctly? Um, yeah. Do you have a point??
  10. I believe that some underestimated the effect of winning a World Series would have on this town. Absolutely Awesome... a testament to KW and Jerry Reinsdorf... unheard of even last year.
  11. Entertaining, especially the section on weird clauses added to players' contracts.
  12. QUOTE(pale_hose @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 04:20 PM) We know Brian Anderson was a stud in Triple A. We know he hit 16 or 17 dongs That was it for me...
  13. Wow, the Indians finally got bumped after spending the entire offseason on top (released right after we won the world series.) This is a huge victory for the White Sox.... just kidding. However, it feels f***ing weird to look at the pre season power rankings and see my chicago white sox on top.
  14. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) You forgot one: '91. Miraculously, I believe that was his exact point. We're talking about having already won one, so he was talking about 92, 93, 96, 97, 98
  15. what a shocking development! HOLD THE PRESS! THIS JUST IN! ROCK STARS HAVE SEX WITH GROUPIES! -never in the history of the world has this happened. NEVER.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 10:32 AM) I would buy all of you sexy blow up dolls. i would accept your generous offer
  17. streets are for cars. crosswalks mean nothing to psychos 15 minutes late for work... sad but true..............
  18. QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 12:22 PM) Next thing you know they'll say you should buy a new copy every time you want to listen to it. I can hear it now.... "The record labels put a lot of time and expense into creating these discs, and to use the same CD over and over and over, with no time limits or limit to number of plays, really isn't fair to the poor, poor media conglomerates who do such a fine public service providing these goods to the consumer. A one-play per disc concept is really the most equitable way to show gratitude to the record companies, so we're calling for such a concept today." WARNING: This disc will self destruct in 5 uses.
  19. Well, it used to be you could only download music if you owned the CD (that was what they considered fair) they are just money hungry and can all eat dicks somewhere small and uncomfortable. What? Like the back of a Volkswagon?
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 12:09 PM) Turn on the radio and listen to the sweet rumblings of Chris Singleton. I actually think Singleton is going to be decent. He was pretty good at Soxfest I thought. I'm actually more worried about Farmer doing the play-by-play. Rooney is sooo good. Not that I don't love Ed, because I do.
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 12:11 PM) Im not saying thats how you feel Balta, but I want to win again this year, bad. We all experienced what a ride it was in 05, and I want it again. That's exactly my point... I want this BAAAD! Hoping they kick some ass...
  22. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) You've heard that around Soxtalk, I would guess. I haven't seen anything from the powers that be to indicate this is their thinking. Yeah, I'm always reading the trash you bastards are writing and taking it seriously... eh, we'll see what happens, i personally would prefer to see konerko-thome-dye, either way i think thome needs to be directly after konerko.
  23. So, I'm sitting here, thinking about how wonderful last season was (and remembering the near collapse that had almost everyone at this site suicidal) and I can't help but be mystified by the possibilities THIS season holds. It has been about ten years since any team repeated World Series Championships, but I crave it almost more this year than last year, because I know how good this can be. I remember watching game 3 of the ALDS last year (we'll refer to this as Game Duque) and watching the Boston fans in the stands, thinking "what the hell do they care? they won this thing last year!" Lowe and behold, I now understand. This White Sox team is stacked this year (only question mark centerfield/health.) We added Javier Vazquez to the rotation as our 5th starter! In his WORST season, he is the best 5th starter in all of baseball, and in the history of the White Sox. Does anyone remember John Rauch, Josh Stewart, and Scott Schoeneweis (sp?) on the 2003 team? That seems like so long ago, but it was only 2.5 years! Anyway, we've also added Thome, and I am extremely pumped about this season. I will stop my gushing rant, and I look forward to DVRing every Sox spring training game... I love this team, and rock on. -Let's go Sox.
  24. QUOTE(ChisoxJones @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 11:05 AM) Hey folks, First time poster, long time surfer. I just want to thank all the Soxtalk posters for the past few years of insight, scoops, entertainment, and simple banter. I have decided to get off the bench and join in from time to time. With all the obvious reasons for good feeling this past year, it got me reminiscing (more than usual) about the White Sox past…….so many memories from Old Comiskey. For instance, I remember Minnie Minoso taking a few minutes to talk to me because I had my # 9 little league jersey. Another time, I was watching batting practice with my glove over the side of the wall on along the 3rd base foul area. Chet Lemon came up to me, talked and watched BP with me for several minutes. Speaking of BP, one time a group of us went up to Milwaukee (before the league change), and while everyone was tailgating, I went in and watched Big Frank take BP. He proceeded to hit 18 or 20 over the left field wall. Insane, I tell you! All these (& many more) lifetime impressions came racing together last October. It was almost too much to truly grasp when it was happening, and to have the culmination of all those memories come together with the 2005 World Series……..well, I am just now beginning to realize that it actually HAPPENED! I am sure many of you have some great memories that came to the forefront when the World Series was won. Anyone wish to reflect on some of those impressionable times that came back to clarity with the championship? Thanks again and looking forward to a GREAT 2006 team and a whole bunch more of great baseball times! ChisoxJones Welcome aboard... Go Sox!
  25. QUOTE(drowninginflame @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 12:52 PM) just curious about this. I believe you'll be getting your tix in March.
