QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 10:45 AM) Heres another: I believe Steve had reviewed the Directv genie. It looks like I will be going that route, anyone else use that service? Any restrictions or annoyances? still love it http://flapship.com/directv-genie-review/ I really need to find someone to do something with Flapship. ANYONE with basic design skills to post these articles. I've got way too much work to do, but this site gets effortless hits, still, based on super old content. We're talking 4,000 hits per month with nothing new. The new content was what always made it go bananas since it's an approved Google News source. Oh, side projects.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 11:12 AM) Haha, are they really? I didn't even hear of FXX until I saw the commercials so I was just wondering. Well I'm ready for it to be 9 o'clock, The Challenge, Sunny and The League tonight?!? Fantastic. Get the beers flowin'.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 09:45 AM) I won't argue that, but it falls off pretty precipitously after that. There's value in those 6-10 guys, but it's a lot different than it is in a standard league. Like I said, if you miss out on Stafford - with either him or Luck probably the last amongst that final group - you are counting on improvements as a passer from your read option types, or you are banking on Roethlisberger or Eli. And, if you're smart, you can get guys like Wilson, Miller, and Lacy in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. It does a better job of creating parity in player values vs everyone just wanting to scoop up rbs in rounds 1 and 2. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 09:01 AM) If you do that, you begin to get to the point where not taking a guy like Brady, Brees, Manning, or Rodgers in the first becomes silly because they are getting an additional 80 points compared to standard leagues. You are talking about 240 points from touchdowns alone, minus 20 points for the 10 interceptions he throws. Add the additional 160 points you get from the passing yards (4000, minimum, for ~160 points) and you're at 380. Then you can throw in 2-6 (we'll use 4) rushing touchdowns and 160 rushing yards (which is a rather small amount for some of these guys) and you are looking at 420 points, which is almost 90 points more than Adrian Peterson got last year in standard leagues. Cut that to 4 points per touchdown, and the world makes sense again. Passing touchdowns are not equal to receiving or rushing touchdowns, which is why we track them separately. Yeah, but you're still comparing those guys to players at the same position - so waiting on a matt stafford to get stud RBs still makes sense. -

I don't want to live in a world where all touchdowns aren't equal. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 09:22 PM) Why the change of station for Sunny and The League? FXX is going to be where their comedy lands, while FX carries the drama. Those are funny shows.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 12:10 PM) The national consensus seems to be that the Bears are a .500 or worse team this year. Am I just being too much of a homer, because I think they'll be at least as good as last year? Bears will be money this year.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 02:37 PM) There is an enormous canyon, longer than the Grand Canyon (though not as deep) buried under the Greenland ice sheet. fascinating

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 2, 2013 -> 08:28 PM) Oh. Just a comment on the show 8 days late I guess. Yup. Dexter should absolutely not be "must watch night of" television for anyone with anything resembling a life.

Dexter is so f***ing terrible now. Just die already.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 2, 2013 -> 10:57 AM) 36 million over 6 years, so 6 million annually. Cap will go up over the term of the deal, but seems about 750K too high You have got to be kidding me.
-
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 2, 2013 -> 09:57 AM) I'm surprised. But also want to see what the money looks like.... Yeah - hopefully the annual is in the 3.5 range, but I doubt it.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 10:53 PM) That was f***ing awesome. Love teemu. All of the above.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 03:45 PM) For $11 I'll take instantaneous over a $200 system that takes two minutes to start up a movie and isn't nearly as portable. I can't imagine the amount of power being consumed by the chromecast is even in the same ballpark as running a ps3 either. Might as well plug in a couple extra refrigerators while watching a video. We're talking about investments that were already made and paid for themselves years ago. It's not like anyone here is saying "buy a ps3 instead of a chromecast". The chromecast is basically a wireless hdmi cable that only plays content from three different sources.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 03:21 PM) How long does it take from the moment you turn the power switch on your ps3 to the moment your netflix movie starts playing? I'd wager a year's salary that it's 20 times longer than starting a video via chromecast. The ps3 update just makes it worse. You'll never have to wait 5 or 10 minutes for the device to update before you can actually watch a video. 2 minutes tops

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 01:36 PM) I think I'll survive the 1.1 mile drive I took today. I just don't get the allure just yet. Once they enable, say, every play store app, then f*** yeah bring it on... but my bluray and ps3 both have perfectly fine integrations with anything Chromecast actually does out of the box. The effort to hack it to enable other stuff just doesn't seem like a viable option right now.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 12:59 PM) Called BestBuy for like the 4th time this week. I didn't realize you never actually talk to a store, but rather you speak to a central hub somewhere that uses your information to look in to the nearest stores around you. I was wondering why I had to confirm my info every time I called to simply ask on the availability of something. Anywho, the lady tells me that there are no Chromecasts available at the Merrillville, Highland, Lansing or whatever other stores near me.....which confused me since I am down in Muncie right now. So I said 'Where are you located? I am not in NW Indiana right now, I am at school in Muncie." She apologizes (As if she should know that?), and looks up the BestBuy in Muncie. 30 minutes later, I am driving home with 2 Google Chromecasts! :D The guy said they got 20 of them in this morning, and when I got there they were down to 6 of them. They don't even display them or advertise, but they sell off the shelves within hours. I got one for myself, and one for whatever family member wants to buy the 2nd one off me. That's a lot of work and driving for Netflix and YouTube.

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 11:42 AM) I got an email from a hiring manager for a position I applied to asking if I was available for an interview. I replied and haven't heard back. That was 10 days ago... What is that all about?? In my brief experience, when an employer contacts your for an interview, they set one up days after. In my experience - employers have tons and tons and tons of things going on and dick people around and following up is difficult for them with the massive influx of s*** that hits their desks. Interviewing/looking for a job is just s***ty.
