How many crappy games are acceptable for a player?
Steve9347 replied to Texsox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) If your name is Juan Pierre ... two bad games make you a failure. Apparently 1,290 at bats of a .656 OPS was not enough, either. The precipitous decline in base-running and fielding abilities apparently also mattered not. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 02:28 PM) It would be easy fodder for the conspiritalists to think that this is an effort to try to save hockey in Phoenix. With the way the puck bounces all over that surface, the sooner the NHL leaves that arena the better. I can't wait for the Hawks to be able to make crisp passes tonight and show off their elite talent.

Three games is excessive. Send the rook a message with 1 game and a fine, but 3 games?

Seriously, some penalties need to be levied against the Coyotes for this crap. First, Smith acts like he's shot with a bazooka when he's barely tapped in the helmet with a shoulder, then he wastes our time writhing around as if he's actually injured. Then, he plays 2+ more periods of hockey, but now days later he can't make media? Bullsh*t. The NHL needs to cut the horses*** with the injuries = suspensions, or this type of crap is going to get even worse. We all know Smith will be out there pregame; they are trying to game the system. I hope the Hawks annihilate them tonight.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 12:27 PM) Still nothing on Shaw, wonder if the Coyotes have something up their sleeve. Jesse Rogers @ESPNChiHawks Smith not available to media. Yotes say they notified the league, calling it "extreme" circumstances but would not confirm injury NHL regulations say all players have to be avail everyday except in "extreme circumstances" which is fine but he prac so how extreme? Tippett said Smith is gametime decision. But reiterated he was fine to finish game This is getting nuts...after like 10 questions about Smith...PR says "no more questions about smith today." conference ends. Mike Smith had better be vomiting in a dark room at this point, because if he suits up after these shenanigans that's a big problem.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 12:23 PM) Its a cant miss, I'll even order it sometimes because its that good. With a nice side of the creamed spinach in pepperjack cheese. I definitely appreciate the suggestion.

The Roger Sterling Eight-Step Guide To Closing The Deal: 1. Take the prospective client to dinner, on the company tab, in hopes of getting him to reveal the correct answer to the RFP. 2. Lying won't get you anywhere. You think it will, but it won't. 3. Order a Scotch rocks and water. Drink half of it, then wait until it turns see-through. 4. Order another round. Smile and sit there like you've got no place to go. 5. Get mega-s***faced and just talk about whatever. 6. ??? 7. Hookers. 8. Check for chewing gum on the pubis.

Juan Pierre is batting .292/.292/.292 through his first 24 plate appearances this season.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 12:09 PM) Have you been to Twin Anchors? They have a veggie sloppy joe that is UNREAL. Its Soy-based. I'll have to check it out... love me some vegetarian friendly places. I'm a big fan of Native Foods and Handlebar for that very reason.
-
QUOTE (TheBigHurtShallRiseAgain @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 11:49 AM) I know they had a veggie burger last year and this year they are supposed to have a vegetarian version of the sloppy Joe. · The Sloppy Jane - Vegan twist to a classic favorite. Tempeh, peppers and onions, with molasses and brown sugar barbecue sauce, served on a vegan wheat bun. That's good. I bet it tastes good.

Game Thread: BAL @ CHW, 4/17, 7:10pm

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 11:23 AM) JDINAA I could not agree more. -
Do they have a veggie burger at the Cell? Do they have any vegetarian friendly protein options there? I know they used to have a veggie burger, but that was before I cared.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 11:12 AM) You care. You posted it and said go home to your wife and kids. Then you want him to only take pics with beautiful people ? Pretty superficial and judgmental. I think he's a dumb jock. No surprise there.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 10:49 AM) f*** that. I'm 29, and we moved to the burbs about 1.5 years ago, and I'm still partying at a decent clip, although a bit less than when I lived in the city. Thank god for the drunk train, aka Metra. Brian was playing. I'm 29 and am in the burbs and married. I go out all the time. Again, my point was that being out dancing on some slut and her fat friend on Sunday night while your wife and 3 kids are at home is pretty pathetic. Take your woman out. Then again, I'm a dedicated and loyal married man who doesn't want to embarrass my wife with pictures like the above. Then again, Peavy makes fat money and his wife will f*** him even if he does cheat on her because money.

Who will you be cheering for, Cubs vs. Marlins?
Steve9347 replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
I won't care. That game is so far from my spectrum of sports fanhood it's laughable. -
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 10:11 AM) From what I know, it's fake. Confirmed, Cat Woman is going to be wearing goggles and I heard she won't have a gun. She's wearing that mask in like every picture officially released.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 09:03 AM) of all people complaining about this, i did not expect it to be you Steve In my post I even typed "I don't even know if I care". My biggest complain is he's partying with a shirtless fat dude.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 09:39 PM) What the hell happened to Lincecum? Sad to see, as he was always someone who you went out of your way to watch. Wow. We're three starts into the season. 16 ks and 4 walks in 13 innings. The stats will correct themselves.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 09:04 AM) Go read up articles on ESPN. Analysts basically told him to stop crying, and fans are bashing him like never before. Even the "self proclaim" D Rose fans are tired of his complaining. I'm a self-proclaimed D-Rose fan. He can complain about the contact all he wants. That's how it works in this league.

Suspensions hanging on whether a player gets injured or not is idiotic.

Dude? You're almost 31! Go home to your wife and three kids! http://deadspin.com/5902482/hey-its-jake-p...in-wrigleyville Also, that dude? You chose to take your picture with THAT dude? And yes, athletes can have fun. Jake looks good. I don't know that I really care, but on Sunday night he could have been watching Mad Men with his gal.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 08:52 AM) I think we have reached a down point of Derrick Rose's career. rough season QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 08:52 AM) Suffering countless injuries game after game My only gripe, dude is 23, he shouldn't be having so many old man injuries already. The Bulls very well might be babying him because best record QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 08:52 AM) "Players are taking cheap shots against him" Sadly, superstars need to point these things out to take the next step. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 08:52 AM) Media and the die hard fans are turning against him for complaining about calls I don't think people care about the complaining. He needs to play. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 08:52 AM) Fans and people in this forum are upset with his recent poor play Again. No they aren't. Any person with half a brain can understand that if Rose has an off game it might be because he plays once a month. We can blame the NBA's moronic schedule for this. Basketball is a hard-ass game, and playing back-to-back-to-back games and four games in 5 days, and having 5 game weeks is just insane. The quality of the game on the court this year is a downright disaster.

We're right back where things were last year. Does Dunn have it in him to retire if the trend continues downward?

Collective anger against Beckham/Morel/Dunn/Rios thread
Steve9347 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 07:45 AM) Said the whole offseason that this year was about "Development". Developing these guys, except maybe in Beckham's case, means at bats and dealing with the struggles. Play the guys and stop complaining. So, you're big plan is to develop players like Adam Dunn, Alex Rios, Paul Konerko, AJ Pierzynski, Alexei Ramirez, Alejandro De Aza? Maybe I can see this with Morel and Viciedo, but the rest of these guys are 30 or damn near it (save Gordon Brokhen). We should develop the pitchers, they are our bread and butter. I like what I'm seeing there in that regard, save I want Reed closing immediately. I haven't, however, given up on this season, but the Sox are not going to go far at the current rate they are striking out.
