Penn State horror story
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 04:04 PM) So one can't think he should be fired/resign and still at the same time realize he's at the very low-end of the total pole as far as blame goes for what went down? If he's at the low-end of the totem pole, that totem pole is only 4 or 5 figures high, man.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) I said I don't blame him for not marching over to the police station the minute he was confronted with these accusations. Strange, Rock and others think that was the no-doubt-about-it first course of action. An 8 year old was raped in the shower. If that's not your first action, it's the action you ensure happens after you report. There's no if's about it. Paterno, and everyone else in that sick college town enabled it.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 12:39 PM) He did his due diligence at the time that has been deemed appropriate. Yeah, in total hindsight he should've done more. But it's not nearly as black and white as some are making it out to be. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 03:36 PM) lol. Welcome to the conversation. We all think he should be fired/resign. So you both claim he did absolutely nothing wrong, at the time, but should be fired.

Penn State horror story
Seriously, how can anyone read the Grand Jury Report and think Joe Paterno doesn't need to be fired... regardless if he "reported" what he knew. F*cking page 2 talks of Sandusky bringing a child to Penn State practice sometime after 2007. Yup, and even though Paterno knew of Sandusky's perverted, disgusting acts of the past, he did nothing to PROECT A HELPLESS CHILD. Give me a f***ing break. Note the dates below, as they happen well after 1998, when Joe Paterno undoubtedly had knowledge of Sandusky's evil ways. That's just blatant disregard for that poor kid's safety. JoePa knows, with absolutely no doubt, that Sandusky rapes and molests little boys. Oh, but he reported the past incident, so it's not HIS problem. He has to focus on coaching football, after all. But yes, poor Joe Paterno. He just wants to coach football. These innocent children he carelessly enabled that monster Sandusky to associate with... well, that's not his fault. He didn't DO IT. The media are the true monsters here, making Joe Paterno seem like some sort of asshole who has no problem with the rape of children. Remember... "beat Nebraska!" The man held a pep rally on his f***ing lawn today. F*ck him.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 02:21 PM) And that is a university issue, not a Joe Paterno issue. Joe Paterno is easily the most powerful and influential figure at that University. If he had any morals he'd have ensured Sandusky never stepped on campus again.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 01:28 PM) Next we will compare him to the German SS and Heinrich Himmler. That took long. From "did not report the rape of minors" to "Hitler". Congratulations.

Dammit, people, this is children being raped. Anyone who thinks JoePa & Co did nothing wrong by doing the absolute least required by law (though they may not have) is just insane. Also, Joe Pa's little ra-ra session on his lawn today, finishing with "Beat Nebraska!" followed by cheers from mindless idiots is everything that's wrong with the world. "These poor victims. Beat Nebraska!"

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) Read the Grand Jury report which has nothing to do with the Media. Then try and blame them. That would require J4L to actually read something and not come in and start acting like he's smarter than everyone.

But it's not nearly as black and white as some are making it out to be. Actually, it is. We as a society, if nothing more, have the responsibility to protect children. Those who think Paterno has done nothing wrong clearly have very low moral standards.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 12:36 PM) I don't give a s*** what he heard. "Hey Boss, I heard from somebody the other day that Rowand44 was dry-humping a 10-year old." I'm not sprinting over to the police station over some s*** like that. Thanks for stopping by, now feel free to go.

2011 TV Thread
I've tried. I've tried to enjoy SOA with a suspension of disbelief, but it's getting really hard. How many groups of trained professionals have to continually f*** up their job before this show just becomes poorly written. Seriously, last week the entire cartel can't execute a planned strategy to take out their rivals, and this week three guys can't get Tara the f*** away from Jax when they abduct her when he's seriously 100 yards away? They take off, Jax stops by the car to look at his kids, pulls out a pistol, and starts running after a vehicle that had a minimum 45 second head start. He's a God damned T-1000. So, of course, Tara is saved. I dunno. I still like the show, but this storyline is just too ridiculous at this point. Also, I wish Gemma would have just gone with the murder/suicide so both she and Clay would be gonezo.

The obvious assumption to make is that Joe Paterno really didn't care that 8-13 year old boys were being consistently raped and molested by someone under his employ with whom the University has kept ties long-since they found out he was a diddler.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 12:03 PM) You're a teacher, and as a teacher, you have certain responsibilities to report any child abuse. That's your legal obligation. If you report that abuse to your principal, are you done? Would you wash your hands of the matter and say "well, I told my boss, that's all I can do?" Wouldn't you follow up on the matter, making attempts to ensure that the situation was being taken seriously? Stated much better than I did. This. Exactly.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 11:48 AM) If anything Paterno is really the one with the least culpability. He didnt witness the crime, when told about it, he reported it to the people who could do something about it. You can say he should have been more active etc, but there is no evidence (so far) that Paterno ever witnessed these actions. Putting yourself in Paterno's shoes, hes known the guy for years hes never seen anything, now hes being told the guy is raping kids in the locker room? Oh come on... we all are well aware that JoePa didn't break any laws. He did fail every child whose been raped by Sandusky by not following up. "Oh hey, I reported it. Jerry's still here, I guess they don't want to do anything about it" should not have been the end of it. If I report to my superior that a co-worker is raping little boys, and a week goes by and said co-worker is still around, I report that s*** myself. However, I'd have called the cops immediately vs reporting it to anyone else.

How Much is a Title Shot Worth to an Athlete?
It's all about the Benjamins. The highest bidders aren't normally from s*** teams, so it usually works out. I wouldn't mind playing in Washington with that up-and-coming roster, so something like what Jayson Werth did last year wouldn't be a problem for me. Sure, if the high bidder is the Pirates, I'd think twice, or if they were in a s***ty location like KC. I'd lean Chicago and then coastal, but I can retire wherever I want with my millions.

Nice of them to time that recognition of the KHL plane wreck for tonight, given the ties Korolev had to the Hawks and Demitra had to Quenneville and Hossa. Now go Hawks!

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 12:39 PM) I want to know why this McQueary guy is getting such a pass. The guy (28 yrs old at the time, so not exactly a kid) walked in on a rape and did nothing but call his coach. How on earth do you not make a scene and try and protect the kid from that monster? I'm 28. There would have been a beat-down and then the cops called immediately. F*ck chain of command.- 2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread

I've played A LOT, the story is great, there's so much to do (it being an open world and all)... so many side missions... so many challenges... the counter says I'm 10% through the game lol. Plus, they have Nightwing and Robin add-ons, and more to follow... the game will keep you entertained for a very long time.- *Official* Work Out Thread
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 7, 2011 -> 07:18 PM) Weird, I just heard about these and am considering doing one in the spring. If you have a specific question or two let me know, I know a guy that does them regularly. I was more looking at how they enjoyed the experience. There's no stopping me from running it, as I think it'd be quite the accomplishment. - Penn State horror story
