QUOTE (Felix @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 10:08 PM) After a couple of stinkers, Community picked it back up tonight with an excellent episode. Not sure if anyone watches it in here since there generally isn't too much talk of it, but if you stopped after the first few of this season, give it a shot. It's good. I watch it. I was really close to dropping it, but tonight was ok enough to keep me interested. Season 1 was epic, I kept waiting for season 2 to be as good and it just couldn't get there (though the paintball scenes with Josh Holloway were pretty dope), and season 3 had been rough up until this one. I wish Chang had just stayed a Spanish teach. Episodes where they work him in too much are just miserable.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 12, 2011 -> 01:16 PM) He'll fail without big money. Or, more likely, he'll thrive with a higher percentage of money than his direct divisional competition. Say what you will about their cash, but they could never spend close to what the Yankees have... outspending the Cards, Brewers, Pirates, and Astros ain't no thang for the Cubs.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 02:55 PM) I don't even understand what's going on at this point. Did you seriously think that I saw the entire epic scene of Gus getting his face blown off, commented on it, and then forgot it entirely? You aren't making any sense right now. Obviously Hector killed Gus, my point was that Gus was on his way to kill Hector, that was the reason he went to the old folks home, that's the reason he had a syringe in his hand. Obviously they both died in the explosion that Hector triggered, but the point still remains that Gus was going to kill Hector. Gus was more than content to let Hector die with his thoughts as long as it took. Then Walt set the bait, initiating Gus's intent to kill. It's not rocket science, yo. There's no one in this thread who thinks you were right but yourself... doesn't that say something?

Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 01:32 PM) Harris & Meriweather benched. Conte & Wright to start at safety Sunday night. Meriweather should be banned from the NFL with the way he plays. Our safties blow. -
Funny quote, but I wish I'd never heard it. This pisses me off.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 11:08 AM) Man, I love when this thread is bumping. Me too. I love when I get to participate after finally being able to watch BB. I'm going to have to go dark this Sunday due to Bears vs Vikings with all these great shows being on (Walking Dead supplanting BB, obviously). I still have to watch the 2nd episode of Homeland, finally, and that series debut has be PUMPED.

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 11:01 AM) I wonder how much better Dexter would be if they hadn't killed off Rita. That maybe it's JUMP THE SHARK moment. That was it's greatest moment. Season 5 was really good compared to what we've seen so far this year... and still it stunk. I think what we're seeing is exactly what milk has already stated. Seasons 1 and 2 were absolutely fantastic. To go from Ice Truck Killer to Bay Harbor Butcher was outstanding. Season 3 a lot of people didn't like too much, but I thought Jimmy Smits was simply fantastic as Miguel, and the dynamic between he and Dexter was brilliant. Seriously, the scene where Dexter admits he killed Miguel's brother, and the look on Miguel's face... such anger and hatred right before knife through heart. Season 4? I thought it was pretty well-written and they did a good job tying previous seasons together. Lithgow took it to another level. Season 5 had too many similarities to season 3, but instead of drinking beers with the person he's letting experience the Dexter way, Dexter's having sex with said person. I thought the season was slow and I didn't really care, but I'd hoped this year would bounce back. I still have to watch the 2nd episode of this season, so maybe Dexter is going to bounce back as EJA and Hanks get more involved. Like I've said four times already, the first episode was such a parody, and so poorly written, that I wanted to kill someone.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 11:01 AM) So I think some others have referenced Boardwalk Empire in here. My wife and I just started season one last night. Got through 4 episodes in one sitting... needless to say we liked it a lot. My only problem so far is the casting of Jimmy's mom. She's supposed to be what, late 30's? But she looks 25. Sorta strange. That, and the Chicago accents are terrible. But that's not really a big deal. That's Gretchen Mol. I reckon she was close to 25 in Rounders, so I'd say the age is perfect. It's not her fault she's still so blazin'! Born in 72, so that broad is 39. Hot damn, lookin' good.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 12:29 AM) I'm not going to say Bolland is our best player, because he's obviously not. But, I do think he's the Blackhawks most important player. No. NO NO NO. He's important for the third line, as I stated. He's not the Blackhawks' most-important player. Toews, Hossa, Kane, Keith, Seabrook, Sharp are all obviously more important players.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 10:43 AM) For me, Dexter was good 1 and 2, 3 wasnt good, 4 was amazing, and 5 was a mess. I enjoyed three only for Miguel, but the tree trimmers were lame. Even you agree above that season 5 was awful, and the first episode of season 6 needs to be destroyed from evidence.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 10:17 AM) That is the only one that I will say is (considering the plot so far and character histories and motivations) probably not going to happen. I think a lot of people believe Mike is going to come back with guns blazing. Mike is a family man and he's in this job for the money. He was loyal to Gus because that's how his bread was buttered. I see no reason whatsoever that he won't jump on Walt's bandwagon anymore as long as Walt would want him. And why wouldn't Walt want him? He and Walt have seemed to have a pseudo-friendship where they both understand that this is simply a business. Even when Mike was supposed to kill him, he was as civil as can be about it. Walt understood this and didn't hold it against Mike (even trying to turn him at one point), he just did what he had to do to keep himself alive by killing Gale. Their relationship after this is even somehow still amicable. Walt continued to have interactions with Mike, if you recall him calling Mike several times during the season to try to get an idea of what Gus was up to. Mike wouldn't give him much information, as that would be unwise with Gus' past actions, but he was always calm and sort of reassuring. I also think Mike would have no problem saddling up next to Walt, but that all depends on whether Jessie finds out Walt poisoned the kid. I'd have to imagine Walt would get rid of that plant swiftly, and I don't see that getting back to him (especially since the kid lived, so there's no possibility of Walt feeling guilt over the situation). I don't see Mike as a big player moving forward. I have to imagine season 5a and 5b will be about Walt realizing he still likes money, his cancer coming out of remission, and Hank busting him.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 10:12 AM) Seriously, what in the f*** is wrong with Clay? How about talk some s*** out for crying out loud?? Jax just wants out, he doesn't want to destroy the club! But no, let's kill the mother of your old lady's grandchild? I think Clay putting the hit on Tara has surpassed the realm of belief. Obviously, the show rocks, but now either Clay needs to go down or the show has to end, one of the two. Do we have a legitimate final season? I'd like this show to rock for a long time, but that's not going to happen with Clay around, and with Jax leaving there won't be enough leads to keep it going. C'est la vie, I guess. And yes, I realize that Jax has yet to find out about Clay/Gemma putting the hit on his old man, but I think the allegiance would lie with his mother of old man Teller. Maybe I'm nuts. Just talk to Tara.
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 10:05 AM) Yeah, Clay has finally left the realm of "understandably" evil into actual evil. That is, unless they pull some ridiculous plot out of their asses to make him seem good, like this whole thing was a set-up against the Cartel. Seems unlikely due to the events thus far, but that show isn't exactly the most plausible or well-written. They seem to make a lot of stuff up at the perfectly convenient time. I still like it. Don't get me wrong, but they could be a lot better. I like how Bobby is seeing right through Clay and his continual empty promises. Seriously, what in the f*** is wrong with Clay? How about talk some s*** out for crying out loud?? Jax just wants out, he doesn't want to destroy the club! But no, let's kill the mother of your old lady's grandchild? I think Clay putting the hit on Tara has surpassed the realm of belief. Obviously, the show rocks, but now either Clay needs to go down or the show has to end, one of the two. Do we have a legitimate final season? I'd like this show to rock for a long time, but that's not going to happen with Clay around, and with Jax leaving there won't be enough leads to keep it going. C'est la vie, I guess.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 09:36 AM) So better TV villan... Gus from Bad, or Ben from LOST. Ben seemed evil for the sake of being evil, while Gus just wants to run his empire. I submit Walt as a bigger villain than Gus, anyway.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 10:02 PM) How is Unser not everyone's favorite SOA character? You know this is just going to lead to his death, but he's selfless in about every situation I can recall. Jax smashing that slut's face in was pretty wild. Clay is evil as s***. Oh yeah, Steve can now participate in his favorite thread bc he finally watched BB.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 01:15 AM) Yes, "get his" as, "kill him". My guess was that Hector would eventually "be killed by Gus". And you said you didn't think he would. And in the end, I was right, and you were wrong. What in the f***ing f***? Hector killed Gus, not the other way around... Gus only went to end Hector's s***-ass existence because of the plan set forth by Walt that was superseded by Hector... killing Walt. You clearly don't pay any attention to BB.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 12:24 AM) MY PREDICTION was that Hector was going to get his eventually, you said No, I was wrong, he was not going to hurt kill him. And guess what.....I WAS RIGHT, YOU WERE WRONG. But, ummm, dude. You remain wrong and clearly have no grasp of what you just watched. Hector "pulling the trigger" on Gus was the absolute best scenario for him. His awful life ends (by his choosing) while he takes out his biggest enemy. That's not Hector getting his... it's Hector absolutely winning by taking Gus down.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 10:27 PM) After marathoning Mad Men in the last two weeks, I think the biggest thing I take from the show is how much of a b**** and a child Betty Draper is. Welcome to Planet Obvious. You've arrived quite late but there still might be some discussion going on by the water cooler.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 09:41 PM) In response to me saying that Hector will get his eventually..... Hector had gotten his already. Actually, Walt allowing Hector to get his revenge on Gus winds up with Hector coming out on top. The old man could do nothing but stare at the wall all day, and he winds up getting to pull the trigger on the man who took down his entire organization. That was the opposite of Hector "getting his".

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) I think the only reason I watch Dexter anymore is to simply finish the series. It's so formulaic and unoriginal anymore. I haven't watched this week's yet, but the premiere for season 6 was complete s*** and came off more like a Dexter spoof than a new episode of Dexter... as stated previously.
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 11:47 AM) Your sarcasm is unwarranted. It couldn't be more obvious unless they did a retarded voice over of Walt's thoughts saying that he poisoned the kid, holding your hand through the thought process. This is funny because it's true. You don't zoom in on Walt, then immediately show the plant in Walt's backyard... it all tied together so perfectly. I mean, even the gun pointed toward it after landing on Walt twice.
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 08:42 AM) STEVE, YOU WATCH IT YET? Sunday Night Football + Bears Monday Night Football + power issues on Tuesday meant I couldn't watch til last night. That was riveting, edge of your seat stuff, and I really, really, really wish that it'd been the series finale. They cannot top the last 5-6 weeks. Those are, in my opinion, the best 5-6 weeks in tv series history.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Oct 12, 2011 -> 06:23 AM) I was out of town until yesterday, so I just got around to watching Breaking Bad. First, I thought Gus walking out of the room with half a face and fixing his tie was awesome. Second, the thought that Gus had poisoned Brock didn't cross my mind until the end when I was sure that he had. He had to convince Jesse that Gus needed to be killed, and he did so by poisoning the kid. It will be interesting to see what direction they take the show next season. I, too, finally got to watch it... Walt is officially evil. I enjoyed the shot of Gus's half-face, if only to ensure he won't be back next season. The only way he's returning to AMC is on The Walking Dead. I presume authorities will be curious why he was visiting Saltamaca. That + the laundromat explosion is sure to gain Hank the recognition he deserves. Walt is evil as f***. Walt is a super-genius. To continue to cook would be silly, but obvoiusly they will since there's more show. That scene at the end, centering on the Lillies of the Valley... that would have been a perfect way to end the series. What an intense f***ing season. I was very happy to see Gus be blown to smithereens, but also part of me wasn't happy. It's weird. I find it comical that Walt became the biggest villain, yet I still sort of root for him. This show is the cream of the crop.
