  1. Go Cubs. Peavy is now Public Enemy #1.
  2. Those conditions basically said "I'm not going to the White Sox" right off the bat. He knew and his agent knew no team would grant those conditions... not even the Yankees.
  3. QUOTE (rangercal @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:06 PM) This made me feel better. Permission request to use this as an avatar, sir. Permission granted... of course.
  4. Quite odd this is no longer stickied.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2009 -> 08:10 PM) BTW, I just want to thank everyone for a fantastic day on this board. I might get fired from work cause of lack of productivity, but just wanted to say thanks.
  6. Eh I said when we first heard about the option, a. he'd want it picked up, b. we wouldn't pick it up, c. we'd be nuts to pick it up. After all the hype settles, and after he declines like so many other starters (and like he's already showing in his career), we'll be happy he's doing so elsewhere and not clogging up all of our f***ing salary. That being said, just call up Poreda and let the man start. It's time to get this rebuild going.
  7. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ May 21, 2009 -> 04:42 PM) Someone posted on here a while ago the history of major long term pitching contracts and how they worked out. Historically it really shows that it is not worth it. Good call JR. Fixed
  8. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 21, 2009 -> 04:35 PM) What a P***y. Now what? Now back to your regularly-scheduled rebuild.
  9. Jake Peavy is a huge f**got. I hope his arm blows out soon.
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 21, 2009 -> 04:07 PM) You're damn good at this. That looks badass Grassy-ass.
  11. It's not perfect... but just enough to give us all boners. Make sure you tell people, "Steve9347 made me cum."
  12. Bwahahaha. From Heyman's twitter. It's probably Hendry.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 21, 2009 -> 02:21 PM) Padres finalize Gerut-for-Gwynn Jr. trade. Ha, looks like my previous link title pissed off a mod.
  14. Padres finalize Gerut-for-Gwynn Jr. trade.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) From someone who is a negotiator for a living, if we are getting into the fine points of a contract then we are steps away from a deal. Both sides wouldnt be asking for things unless an agreement was in there somewhere. There is an agreement. We all have known that since 6 or 7am. That's between two parties who now have no control.
  16. Some assclown on the radio just said Brent Lillibridge was a good pickup and he's had a bunch of great games and a few terrible ones. Why do radio shows allow idiots to call in?
  17. QUOTE (ChiSox420* @ May 21, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) Hey didn't know I could change that just made my viewing a lot better... lot less pages to load THANKS! I've been at 50/page for at least 2 years. It's excellent.
  18. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ May 21, 2009 -> 01:27 PM) Can someone summarize briefly these three points so I don't have to sift through 71 pages: 1) what is the likely package we are giving up? 2) what aspects of this trade would be attractive to peavy, beyond one-time recent world series winner with a mostly different core of players now? 3) has anyone given any indication as to how long he plans to mull this over? 1) Poreda, Richard, and two lower-value prospect 2) Peavy has come back and asked for his 2013 option to be picked up ($22 million) and for the limited no-trade to be extended throughout the life of the contract 3) Should have a decision today.
  19. Jake Peavy picks up remote while talking to family. "Hey gang, I think the White Sox are playing! Let's see how good they're doing and how many fans are there!" Turns on MLB Extra Innings... Sox down 7-0, about 8k fans there. "Ummmm. Call up my agent. That's a no."
  20. QUOTE (almagest @ May 21, 2009 -> 01:20 PM) How do pitchers like Buehrle and 2008 Floyd and Danks and 2005 Contreras and most of our bullpen and so on succeed here, then? Would they all have ERAs below 2 in the NL? Look at how good Zito, Hudson, and Mulder were when they went to the NL. Sure, there is something to the ERA goes up in the AL, that'll happen when you face no pitchers, but a lot is being made out of nothing. In the end, it was about green, and the Sox had to know it'd come to that option.
  21. QUOTE (rangercal @ May 21, 2009 -> 01:17 PM) If this were a PR move, this is bad PR. I will be pretty pissed when/if Peavy rejects this. This is a f***ing cocktease and whoever let this leak better not be Kenny. Yeah, this wouldn't be a PR move. There is way too much risk in Peavy declining. It basically says "hey world, the White Sox suck!"
  22. I guess by 2013 we'd be fine anyway, because we'd have Yankee-type cash from back-to-back-to-back World Series titles...
