  1. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ May 26, 2009 -> 12:58 PM) Havlat and Bulin Wall did not practice, so according to Eddie O, he said if they don't practice, they probably don't play. Ugh. Q said Havlat will play. Don't expect Bulin though.
  2. QUOTE (VAfan @ May 26, 2009 -> 12:50 PM) The Sox have to get the kind of consistent starting they have gotten after the 20-1 debacle.Jake Peavy will help. Having him in the rotation instead of Clayton will make all the difference. /alternate universe where Peavy doesn't suck balls.
  3. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 26, 2009 -> 11:57 AM) I remember a comical fool thinking that the number actually affected performance I never said # affected performance. I said Pods is a WS hero and most certainly should be wearing #22.
  4. I remember a comical, many page thread when a bunch of fools thought worthless-ass Josh Fields should keep #22. Can we give up on him yet?
  5. Hopefully more innings and fewer un-earned runs tonight.
  6. I held off as long as I could. Brian Campbell is our Alfonso Soriano.
  7. It would have been fun to move Peavy to the White Sox in video games. It's over though, move along.
  8. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 26, 2009 -> 08:42 AM) Why is eveyone convinced that Pods should be thrown at for using this stance? Hawk told me so.
  9. Nuggs win despite a bad game from Melo. Keep it up.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 26, 2009 -> 08:12 AM) From what I understand of Bedard, he wouldn't survive here. He is a guy who begs out of games, and seems to get "injured" easy and often. What are you talking about? Do you actually think someone would call him out? Again, hope I don't need the green.
  11. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 26, 2009 -> 08:32 AM) If BA and Pods both keep playing like this it looks like Wise will be the odd man out and end up stuck in Charlotte for a while. He couldn't have had worse luck with that injury. Not with TCQ probably headed to the DL for awhile.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 26, 2009 -> 08:31 AM) I think it was Bulger who threw at him last night in the 7th FWIW... Yeah, it already began. However, Ichiro has made an entire career off that swing so hopefully they forget. Brian Anderson should play every game in center from here until the game ends, and as long as TCQ is out, Pods should be in left. If/when CQ comes back, Pods becomes a very nice backup.
  13. Scotty Pods is hitting .303. WTF? How long are opposing pitchers going to allow him to do his little mini-Ichiro step swing? He seems like he's reborn. Oh, but fire Walker, there's no way he had anything to do with that. I hope I don't need green for a few things up there.

Terminator Salvation Review, by an actual fan of the franchise. Hi, my name is Steve. I grew up with the Terminator... Terminator 2: Judgement Day was one of the films that defined my youth. It was excellent. From this, I went back and watched the original Terminator, and enjoyed it. However, Judgement Day was numero uno. Then came Terminator 3. It was just a movie... a disappointment, but it was Arnold, and it had some nice moments of cinematography. Enter: Terminator Salvation Having heard the negative reviews and going in with expectations moderately tempered, I sat in awe as the opening sequence blew me away. However, I expected this, having heard that this is the best moment of the film. Quick aside... Christian Bale used his Batman voice in this movie. Anyway, some of the holes that folks have pointed to, such as were unfounded as the plotline delivered perfect explanations. Beyond that, they wonderfully paid homage to the past films ( ) Anyone who is a fan of the franchise is going to come away quite happy with this movie. I thought it was downright awesome, and when it comes to films, I can be pretty picky. I kept waiting for this movie to start being less awesome, and it didn't. Sam Worthington definitely showed up Bale in this film... his role was awesome. However, Bale fit the role perfectly. **** out of ***** Yeah, seriously, it was that good. Don't listen to some critics who don't know a damn thing about the franchise. Listen to me.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 22, 2009 -> 01:01 PM) Will Ray Parker Jr. be involved? I presume his music will be! With that cast, the movie will be hilarious.
  18. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 22, 2009 -> 02:09 PM) Too bad Kyle beat you out Yeah, what a bastard. Though my video-gameness has declined steadily of late. I actually traded in MLB 2k9 for the Wii to GameStop for a GameCube controller and MVP 2005 (GC). It looks good in widescreen (graphics are better). Now I get to enjoy a baseball game that doesn't suck fat dick. I'm trying to decide whether to update the rosters or not haha. Scaled this down, but it looks pretty cool in the Wii collection.
  19. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 22, 2009 -> 02:22 PM) Yeah, I realized it right when I hit submit, but I imagine he'll get the point. One of my bosses I clerked for in law school spelled in Jon and I wrote a vast majority of his letters, so train of thought, it comes out as that Ha, no biggie. He'll get the point.
  20. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 22, 2009 -> 02:03 PM) Mr. Verducci, I respect you as an MLB writer, but I have to strongly disagree with you on how you portrayed the White Sox in relation to the Jake Peavy deal. First, I 100% agree with you that they aren't in the greatest shape this year, there is no denying that, but the Peavy deal isn't about just this year. The White Sox have 40 million dollars in payroll coming off the books after this year, even with adding Peavy it would be over 20m of flexability. They have Mark Buehrle and Jon Danks signed or under control for the next three years. They have a farm system that is getting praise from national outlets plus 4 more high picks coming in early June. Not to mention they have a GM and owners who have won 2 division and a WS in the last 5 years and have made every effort to put a winning team on the field year after year. Does it always pan out? No, but what team outside of the NYY and the Braves of the 90's does it? Also, shortsighted, adding Peavy to Buehrle and an offense that might improve, they could have made a legit run this year. Again, this year doesn't look promising, but I feel you completely sold the White Sox as a franchise undeservingly short. What I wrote to Verducci... it's more of a generic mailbag submisison thing, so I doubt he will see it, probably gets screened by interns and it's not "Aren't the Yankees and Red Sox awesome?!?!? Please elaborate!!" I would have spelled it "John" Danks.
  21. Oh, well... when you put it that way. I think I understand... not sure though. What? On a side note, good for her. Those girls would have destroyed her back before long anyway.
  22. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 22, 2009 -> 10:01 AM) I like how he wants to be in a stable place knowing he won't be moved, but then he asks for an opt out clause after every year? What BS. Exactly. It was all about money and control. Don't come to your press conference and tell lies with some kid from Make-A-Wish with you ala Dusty/Darren Baker. Pulling stunts like that makes me disrespect you.
