QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) At this rate BA might get as many posts as Jake Peavy.
-
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand Peavy is 5-6 with a 4.10 era. His team is .500 without him, under with him.

I love how people just mindlessly spew that TCQ will be back on June 10. If he is back, I doubt he's healthy. This will be an issue for awhile.

Everytime I hear the word "BASTARDO!" I think of Titanic.

Article on the decline of baseball card collecting

Man... I looooooved collecting cards. -
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 10:39 AM) I would be more than willing to deal Slayer for Haren....how many other countless "can't miss prospects" have we dealt away and have not developed?? Not saying he won't but I would much rather have a proven player. Um f*** no.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 10:35 AM) I try, but it's just not fun watching DeWayne Wise play. I really don't mind him coming in as a pinch runner, or pinch hitting for Anderson against a right-handed reliever. Beyond that, seeing him get half the playing time is so frustrating. I was tenuous about it when the season started because Anderson hadn't proven he was a better hitter than Wise (mainly, because last year he was sitting vs. RHP when he shouldn't have been, hitting a lot of homers vs. lefties but not doing much else). But Anderson's clearly improved and Wise will never be more than he is. Every time I see Wise start when he shouldn't I'm reminded that Ozzie doesn't see it. It's not like when a player gets traded and he's gone, and I have to get over it. It's something that's constantly going on and I don't have to like it. My sentiments exactly.

I don't believe that Cox is only 53. Jesus Christ, he looks like he's 73.

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 10:26 AM) Just a question...when is an experiment no longer an experiment? I mean, he's been here for 5 years. I think he is who he is. And the front office likes it. This is true, Ozzie is going nowhere. He's a good manager who gets a lot out of his players. However, Kenny needs to bring it down from above that BA stay in the lineup. The kid isn't the greatest hitter, but he certainly is better than Wise and his defense in CF is quite valuable.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 10:01 AM) According to SSS, Rick Hahn confirmed it was a straight platoon last night. f*** Ozzie if that's true. Seriously, I like Ozzie, but this is a fireable offense.

QUOTE (Special K @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 09:26 AM) A little off topic, but kind of a similar thought... Why does Guillen refuse to put Nix at 3rd and pull the garbage that is Josh Fields. I see only good things come out of Nix this season. He will play much better D at 3rd, even though it's not his natural position. And he has twice as many homeruns at 3rd than does Fields in half as many at-bats... And Fields imaginary power is the only reason we have him there. Nix at 3rd BA in center, and this team will be in real nice shape. Yes, or Nix as UTIL backup pretty much anywhere (corner OF, corner IF, 2B) once Beckham comes up. If TCQ can come back healthy around the time Slayer is called up, this offense is going to become deadly.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 09:22 AM) He shouldn't be platooned though. It just doesn't help him, or the team. Exactly, BA can hit righties as well as f***ing DW.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 09:23 AM) Well to be fair, Jordan is/was a serial adulter and a big time gambler. Unless LeBron has some things that no one is talking about, I would rate not shaking hands as below both of those. Ha, he was in the NBA and the most popular man in the world and was married to an old-hag mistake. Juanita had it coming for being a world-class b**** and mistake. I respect him more for getting his. (Note I do not endorse adultery, I'm just saying... he's an NBA player, they all cheat) As for the gambling, if you can afford it, what's the problem? This ain't Barkley here.

Personally, I love the MacGruber skits but I don't see how you're going to make an 80-minute flick based on that concept. I presume it'll wind up just being a full-on McGuyver parody.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 07:47 AM) Conan moving to the tonight show is him doing the same god damn thing just in a different time slot. Exactly, I don't know why people think it's going to be different. It'll be the same stuff with a bigger budget. (This is a very good thing).

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 09:10 AM) Brian Anderson has the flu. I am guessing it was the same bug that supposedly Jenks had for a couple of weeks. I'm well aware that he has the flu, that doesn't mean Wise won't continue to start over him despite being talentless.
-
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 02:13 AM) Oh and when it comes to class, Jordan is not the person to bring up. He was more classless than Lebron. Worst post in the history of Soxtalk.

This is becoming more and more tiresome. Why on Earth is Ozzie starting Wise over Anderson? Ozzie preaches defense, yet last night we see Betemit at 3rd base and Wise in CF? Are you kidding me? Wise, after last night's game, is hitting .172. Now, I'm not the type to say "I could put together a better lineup"or "he's a f***ing idiot", but Ozzie is a f***ing idiot, and I could put a better lineup together. Don't take this as a "sky is falling" post, because it's not. I just find it absolutely unacceptable that Ozzie continues to trot the talentless, career-minor leaguer out that that is Dewayne Wise. Brian Anderson has a freaking OBP over .350 and puts up Gold Glove defense. I don't know what to do at this point, but being forced to watch him continue to play second fiddle to a complete and utter bum is driving me mad.

QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 04:43 PM) Perhaps he's hinting that Slayer will take a note from Swisher and pitch for an inning or two at Charlotte Or I used a word from the English language.

Conan rules and I doubt he alters what made him so popular by too much. Andy Richter worked better as a side-kick than an announcer though.

Since chances are the Beckham era will probably start in the next week or so, what number do you think he will wear? I think the Sox will give him #6, the number he wore in college (and you gotta give a pimp a cool, low number like that). Oddly enough, no White Sox has worn this number since the passing of former hitting coach Charley Lau in 1984. What are you guys guessing?

That "New Super Mario Bros" has me extremely excited.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 12:03 PM) All I know is that I play golf quite frequently and its literally the hardest sport I have ever tried. I've waterskiied competitively, played numerous competitive sports growing up and through adulthood, and I have never ever been as challenged than at golf. I have also been dead tired after a round of play, played several rounds in a row where mentally I thought I was going to die, and have had some of my best moments in sport on a golf course. Par is the ultimate competition IMO. I agree with these statements. Except get rid of the waterskiing, I didn't do that. I played hockey though.
