  1. With the exception of Baker, the twins rotation is having a great spring. Scary.
  2. QUOTE (Jimmywins1 @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 11:31 AM) I'm thinking right around 88, give or take a few. and that will probably win the division
  3. I just got back from four days in Glendale. One word to describe the complex and access to the practice fields: heaven. My other big impression is that infield defense, apart from Lexi, is kind of scary. Hope it improves, but Fields seems to be a work in progress still at 3rd. it's not just the occasional errors, it's the way he gets in position, sets his feet, etc. He forced Buehrle to get 5 outs the other day in one inning, one on an error the other by waiting back for another hop before throwing to first (late). I do like his bat. Linebrink looks old; BA looks frustrated and wound too tight, he was even pressing in practice, getting frustrated in the cage. And Greg Walker is aces in my book for wandering over and chatting it up with a few of us fans watching workouts.
  4. QUOTE (Steff @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 09:02 AM) Today will be our 15th game there and it's amazing. The staff and the park is unreal. I've been to every st field in Fla and 6 here and this is by far the best and not just cause its the sox, but because it completely caters to the fans. The facility opens at 9am. You can get players autos on the way in if you wait by their lot. they have been awesome at signing this year. After that you can sit at any 1 of the 9 practice fields and watch drills for both the sox and the dodgers. They are very lax. We've been able to sit right behind the plate on the concrete steps and no one has bothered us when we probably don't belong there. As for getting in the park, the gates open at 11:30 and any ticket gets you complete access except to the upper level which is reserved for team brass and special invites. The 1st base grass has the sun behind you and the 3rd is in your face. The sox are on the first base side and the players are awesome at signing before the game and after in the walkway back to the clubhouse. Even Thome has been signing which has been a rarity in the past 3 years. Sitting in seats you don't belong in is a no-no. But there really isn't a bad seat in the house. We've got tickets for all the games behind the Sox dugout and the plate but end up sitting in the law with the kids because its a lot more fun out there. The Cubs played there earlier this week playing the dodgers and their fans did come out in full force but the ones we encountered were mostly nice. A few autograph jerk offs, but when I made a comment to Z about taking his meds they all laughed :-). Overall I am completely pleased with the park. It's more than I expected. We'll be here till the 26th going every day but next monday (off day) and probably sitting in the 1st base lawn right at the wall (except for Saturday we'll be in our seats that day), so if you see us (2 chicks and 2 kids) stop by and say hi. Hope those of you going have an awesome time. IMO it would be hard not to!! Steff I'm heading over there tomorrow morning for four days - thanks for the tips!
  5. three weeks left until they have to make a decision, so plenty of time for Anderson to turn it around. Of course...lots of time for JO to do the same, damnit.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 01:45 PM) Anderson works a full count then pops to shallow right. Inning over. Maybe a month in AAA will give him time to get his swing/head right. He looked so much better in spring last year, and it showed in his #'s. he's hard to figure out.
  7. Like someone said, he'll be catching for the twins. I worry about Mauer, that guy has something seriously wrong with his kidneys.
  8. a lot can happen in three weeks. but it's nice to see him doing well.
  9. in the 100 he's probably kick ass. in the 30, not so much
  10. i love the look on pk's face the moment he knows he just watched strike 3 go right down the middle.
  11. QUOTE (FranktheTank35 @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 11:10 AM) Because then one of them has to switch positions going right into the start of the season, whoever loses. I'd rather them make up their minds before ST, and go form there. Alexei moves back to second, and Beckham comes in at SS. Give him a year in the minors. I guess I just don't see that as a big deal. You compete early on in spring, then make a decision and stick to it. Play the last few weeks at your position, ready to go.
  12. once beckham's ready, why can't you just put the best SS out there? competition between the two.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 10:58 AM) They have correct it immediately. Apparently, the rap against him in Cuba was he became disinterested. If he's blowing things off the first week of his first spring training, it doesn't bode well moving on. I'm sure KW and Ozzie have made a point to him this morning. it's also why he and the organization would benefit from him spending some time in the minors.
  14. that was an interesting blurb about Viciedo: Have to keep in mind that he's still very young.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 08:52 AM) With all those OF's they have it might be hard, but sticking in Crede as the DH in that lineup with the 2 big lefties isn't the worst idea I've ever heard. If you could keep him from throwing his back out, he'll probably give you 25+ home runs from the right hand side. good point. I'd love to see the guy have a good year, but of course I'm torn. He'll be helping the twins. But if he could have a big year and sign a good contract that sets him up for life, that would be nice. He's one of the good guys.
  16. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Mar 2, 2009 -> 03:18 PM) Omar Little- The Wire Nobody on Soxtalk watched the Wire? So many great characters in this show so my opinion changes all the time. for my money, the best show that's ever been on television. ever.
  17. weird that they haven't given him a start at 3b yet
  18. QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Mar 2, 2009 -> 09:25 AM) Either way it doesn't matter, just trying to warn all of you so you don't get robbed. . yes, this is the point - not opinions on civic parking fines. And a big thank you on the heads up, i'm heading over there soon. Question: how bad is the traffic on Camelback? I heard that they were expecting big delays? is it easy to get in and out of the stadium?
  19. and it's televised here in LA...where it's 82 degrees today...with some vin sculley thrown in. can't beat it.
  20. side note: tigers brass has been raving about dontrelle this spring. got shelled today. just sayin...
  21. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Feb 27, 2009 -> 04:24 PM) Shaq is the only reason I have a twitter. Rainn Wilson..."rainnwilson" you won't be sorry
