Ray Rice Cut and Suspended Indefinitely
IlliniKrush replied to ChiSox_Sonix's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 02:00 PM) Prior to this morning the Ravens had no plans to cut Rice. They actively and proudly supported him. This morning, that video leaked, and 4 hours later he was cut. That is "immediate" by my definition. As soon as the video leaked, he was gone. It was an excuse to finally make the move that should have been made initially. They knew (and presumably saw this on tape) what happened a long time ago, this video didn't show them anything. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 01:50 PM) What? It happened in about 4 hours today. Ray Rice punched her 4 hours ago? -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 01:46 PM) I'm sure it's more likely than not that I would be fired, but I don't think that it would be an immediate, no thinking required kind of decision. But comparing the NFL to any other employer is comparing apples and oranges. I'd be fired for using drugs too. Most people would. So should NFL players be cut for that? They've had plenty of time to think about it. This is far from immediate. -
Ray Rice Cut and Suspended Indefinitely

And NOW Roger suspends him indefinitely. LOL. This whole thing has been handled terribly, not only in initial judgment, but quite possibly lying about seeing the tape. Now that it's out, now they finally feel that they have to react? Brutal. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 01:30 PM) That is appropriate for a response from Baltimore, though it is disappointing it took so long And after the whole "she's sorry she got hit" and make sure everyone gives Ray a standing ovation like he's a hero bulls***. -

Career is probably over, no team can make a move to sign him and think it's a good idea. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 10:13 AM) I don't see how this video changes everything. We already knew Rice knocked her out, to have some new reactions is childish. The suspension was sickeningly short before, and it remains sickenly short now. Exactly. Not sure what people expected. Oh my God he hit her??? And the Ravens should be ashamed of themselves in the way they've handled this as well. -

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 7, 2014 -> 03:44 PM) Romo gets a lot of s*** but he threw 31 TDs to 10 INTs with a QB rating of 97 last year. I'd strangle a kitten for Cutler to post #s like that. You were saying? -

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 7, 2014 -> 03:07 PM) Why can't we get them both again? We could, in theory, though "talk" has Brunson not wanting to play with another PG or something. Anyway, there's a 0% chance Evans says he wants to commit, and Groce says hold on, let me see what Brunson has to say. He would take the commit and be done with it. So that tweet either makes zero sense, or it's being used for another reason. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 6, 2014 -> 01:00 PM) That 4th & goal killed me. If they didn't notice on the previous play, when you force all 22 players in between the hashmarks, there won't be much room to advance the ball, especially when offensive line play isn't your strong suit. I'm not saying go 5 wide, but they need to spread it out a bit. So Bailey's either redshirting or transferring, right? Has to. Haven't used him in any short yardage, trick plays, or more importantly, goal line. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 08:14 PM) Oh I just meant I didn't know if what I heard was on any of the forums. Used to be religious following recruiting until black Friday last year burned me out. Honestly thought we had about a 0% chance on Brunson until last Saturday So you have some sort of source, but this hasn't been out anywhere? And you're saying Jalen said I'm in, and his Dad said no, you're not? Where does that leave it now? -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 07:30 PM) ? He asked where you got that from or where it started, you said "me probably." So you were there when he committed, is the only conclusion you can draw from that. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 03:10 PM) Brunson committed on his visit. I'm guessing it's only not public because his father rescinded it. Not buying it. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 12:17 AM) Look at the interested recruits, its plain as day to everyone. Its mentioned all the time on our board. They still want to bribe him to come back when Thad's health gets worse although insiders have said Sean Miller would be interested in coming back (I dont get that). You stay the f*** away -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 12:18 AM) So I'm sure people will get tired of hearing about this all year long but the guys Sherman was guarding didn't have a single target tonight. He's good. I didn't see every snap closely, but I feel like a lot of the time he wasn't on Nelson, or was I just imagining that? I feel like you'd lock him on him the entire game, no? That has to be an odd feeling. You know you are good and affected the outcome, but you didn't really do that much, so to speak. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 11:51 PM) It would be hard to take a good hitter like Conor out of an MLB lineup. He has a spot but not in the heart. Second, the Sox are spending money. They hope to pick up probably one or two proven pen arms, and obviously someone in the rotation. Signing an actual middle of the order hitter will be more difficult. When they want to complete the payroll will be over 100 million IMO Not only that, but the way things have changed with locking up younger guys and longer contracts, those guys aren't easy to come by on the FA market anymore. Well, unless it's an Abreu situation.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 12:09 AM) He just eats the grounds. Dude is insane. One of the guys from Matta's tree that we always wanted as a successor. I absolutely love Groce, as if you didn't know that already from the college ball thread the past 2 years. I know he hasn't "accomplished anything" yet but I'm behind him 100%. Maybe I'll be totally wrong on it but I think he's the guy to bring this program back to where it was/should be. One of these recruits here is going to hit, just has to, and off we go. It was a blessing in disguise, IMO, that Smart nor Stevens came here. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 12:06 AM) Agreed, and frankly I like the guys who are turned off. I really like Groce and he recruits a lot like Thad, except with WAY more energy. I'm pretty sure he drinks coffee straight out of the pot. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 12:00 AM) No idea how you did it with a kid, especially with how often our elevator broke and I had to reset it. So much easier having a house, space and a little (ill sound old here) peace and quiet compared to what madison st is becoming I'm old with you. If it wasn't a siren every 3.5 minutes, it was homeless cab guy at midnight after every UC event.
