  1. Hawks getting a bit too close to the 4/5 hole. Both Nash and Det have 5 games left, Hawks 4. Hawks 1 point behind Nash, 2 behind Det. Hawks play each of them one out of the last four.
  2. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 03:50 PM) You aren't kidding, this is easily the worst class I have seen in the last decade. Add in the massive NBA defections this season, and college basketball will be even more watered down next season. Good ole Roy is about to lose 5 guys(Marshall, Henson, Barnes, Zeller and likely McAdoo). Paypal Cal is going to purchase another insane class and own college basketball until the NCAA steps in. The NBA either needs a 2 year minimum, or get rid of the rule altogether. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/774447...lege-basketball
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 12:12 PM) Howard is currently meeting with Groce This close to the press conference? I thought it would have been hammered out well before the last minutes, one way or another.
  4. I'm on board with Groce, love what I've read about him, let's get this s*** rolling. 2 more hours and this whole thing is finally over. Time to win the press conference.
  5. Yay it's over. Time to win the press conference. BTW, Rock, I like how Buehrle>Wood is suddenly a representation of all Illini fans.
  6. And how Kendall Gill says he'll come to the rescue. LOL.
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 02:25 PM) I'll give him a chance. But this entire process has been shameful whether or not the coach works out or not. Because the 2 big guys said no? As if he could have done something to have them say yes. They don't want U of I. The end. That's the reason its shameful.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 02:03 PM) He's a wildcard, that is for sure. At this point though, it's the only way to save us from a complete PR disaster. Other coaches will be doomed from the start. It's already a complete PR disaster. And any coach is doomed from the start. He's not in your eyes because it's your guy, but that won't make one difference. Any hire is the same at this point.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 26, 2012 -> 07:47 PM) If John Groce is indeed even in remote consideration, just LOL. What a complete disaster. As opposed to all the other amazing options out there right now? It's responses like this that give Illini fans they rep they have, and puts any coach behind the 8 ball to begin with. None of us know how it will turn out. Cherry picking a stat doesn't prove it one way or another.
  10. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Mar 26, 2012 -> 11:58 AM) You have to wonder, if this shakes down the way it seemingly is, what the HELL Illinois' A.D. is/was doing... I wouldn't be thrilled to have Martin. I don't think you could say that's for sure a better hire than Groce. We'll only know years down the line anyway. But I don't think we "missed" on him or anything.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 26, 2012 -> 09:40 AM) Yet he's had actual tournament wins, and for a MAC team thats pretty tremendous. He also comes from a pretty successful coaching tree. A lot of OSU fans are telling us this would be a good hire, they'd take him if Matta wasn't there.
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 25, 2012 -> 09:26 PM) In other coach searching news the SIU search could not be going in more of an opposite direction than the U of I hunt. Mario Moccia(our ad) has done a great job in keeping the whole thing under wraps, I'm kind of concerned that Robin Ventura might be our new coach... In other news, no one on a national level gives a f*** about the SIU search. Not hard to keep it under wraps.
  13. I'd be shocked if it's anyone but Groce. I'll expect the presser Tuesday or Wednesday.
  14. Drawing up a toss across play to try to get a look from 3 made zero sense.
  15. QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 11:35 PM) I'd agree that they're out to win a Championship as the top priority, but I'm guessing getting payback added some fuel to the fire. I also don't think "in the tournament" makes a difference. Both teams are young and don't really have tourney experience. It's more shocking to beat a team in the tournament with all chips on the line than a non conference game in December.
  16. Stevens denies any contact. However he was drawing with chalk with his daughter. Maybe he was drawing big block I's and replicas of the Assembly Hall roof. Stay tuned.
  17. QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 04:33 PM) Definitely, I was just thinking that today. Here's hoping IU can stun everyone again tonight. Actually, I think this win would be more shocking than the first, if only because of the "Kentucky out for revenge" angle. First of all, Kentucky isn't out for revenge. They are out to win a championship. But it would be more shocking, just for a different reason...because it's in the tournament, and it's not in Indiana.
  18. Give me a break guys, he has sources. Doesn't mean he'll always have something first, but those guys have people in places on all teams. He was right about Sumlin using us for money, that's for sure.
  19. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 02:18 PM) where did you hear this rumor btw? It's on the internet, but first heard it on B and B.
  20. Next name that came out today that is being targeted is Brad Stevens. Rumor has it he's interested in Illinois if it's close to the same deal Shaka got. Also rumor Calipari is trying to get Jerrance away.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 12:31 PM) I know they can, I just meant that in a "holy s***" type of response. Gotcha. It just sucks that there are so many factors going against Keith in this one. Add all them up and it just doesn't bode well here.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 10:48 AM) This is getting out of hand. They can't suspend him that long. They sure can. I hate the Canucks like everyone else, but that was a clear headshot, puck never even touched, and in theory, retaliation. Elbows don't get that high on accident. It was pretty bad. Now obviously Sedin's hit earlier wasn't exactly clean and he got him high. But the retaliation aspect from that might lead Shanny to lean towards "premeditated" which ups everything. As does an injury. We're just going to have to live with the punishment, just hope it doesn't get into the playoffs.
  23. The last possession there was crap. Throw orange and blue jerseys on them and it would have looked really familiar. Poor coaching, poor decision making. A prayer 3 when you have 15 seconds and only down 1 is terrible, period.
  24. QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 21, 2012 -> 03:12 PM) There are other programs and other opportunities. Those TV appearances set coaches up. Makes them known to the boosters and general public. Not right now there aren't, at least nowhere he's going. So if you are speaking short term, you're clearly wrong. If you want to talk long term, he's not on TV so people can begin to know about him, everyone already does. You don't get jobs based on TV appearances, you get them on results. And a top 5 job, if that's what he's holding out for, won't be influenced by studio work on CBS. That's ridiculous.
