That was just so stupid by Hamels. Yeah, let's hit a guy for being a rookie, possibly injure him if it hits him on a bone in his hand, or slips and gets at his head. WELCOME TO THE BIG LEAGUES! Dumb. I don't blame Rizzo for saying what he said. There should absolutely be punishment for Hamels.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 6, 2012 -> 07:52 PM) Ok,so I'm watching the Sunday Night Baseball game and they just had a commercial for a dating site called FarmersOnly.com Lol its been on nbcsports for hockey for a week. Its ridiculous. Thought it would only be there. But on espn? Wow.

QUOTE (The Critic @ May 4, 2012 -> 07:15 PM) Of the teams left in the running, I like them the most. Since they got rid of that idiot Payne they learned how to harness their physical play into a good system. I haven't been watching them, though. I've barely seen any of the playoffs since the Hawks failed. Who's left is irrelevant. They have good players and everything, but can't root for St. Louis (or Detroit, but we've been there too).

It depends on the situation and how close you are there. Didn't say you'd have to accept it, but I think the approach is the right approach. I don't think you go in there looking for it. And obviously companies try to pay employees as little as possible. That's how it works. Same thing in sports. I get your logic, but that's the case whether there is a possible counter offer in play or not. Companies aren't trying to be fair and just pay people what they are worth.

A trouble spot could be anywhere there's people and alcohol. So yeah, kind of hard to know where ALL of that would be. Should coach Kelly have people walking house to house, seeing if guys are there, and pulling them out? Every single night, for every single party? Kids have to take responsibility for their own actions. He's not 6 years old. Now it's on Kelly to hand out proper punishment. -
QUOTE (danman31 @ May 4, 2012 -> 02:44 AM) I applaud you for facebook, but not having a smart phone is more like masochism than a statement. I just can't stand how all anyone does now is play on their phones. Go to hang out with people, on the phone. Out to eat, on the phone. At the game, on the phone. Everyone would rather be doing something else on the internet than what they are currently doing. I think Critic said this somewhere else in a thread, it's the HDG, Head Down Generation. No one can get off their phone, and I don't want to be that guy. I text with my phone, but the only thing I really miss is not having access to sports scores. If I'm with my wife, I'm taken care of...or someone else I'm with usually has it. I just don't think I'd use a smart phone to it's capacity. Maybe I'm wrong. Eventually I'll probably have to get one, I just haven't hit that "I must have this" point yet. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2012 -> 07:54 AM) Did you buy that cabin in Montana yet? Nah, you could pick up a cell phone single there, not worth it.

I think if you are going to leave, you tell them you are leaving. If they really want you to stay, they'll start dialogue trying to keep you and ask you what it would take, etc. I think if that happens, you're fine. You didn't ask for anything or tell them to match, they wanted you instead. I had a friend that did this, told them she was leaving, they said absolutely not, we want you here, what are they offering you, we'll make sure to compensate you. She said alright then, was kind of surprised, and she's still at the same place. And it hasn't been awkward.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 4, 2012 -> 10:03 AM) The head coach sets the tone for a football program, and he can know as much about his players' whereabouts as he wants to. There are plenty of staff under Kelly to help him with this. That's 100% bulls***. Please describe your system where you'd be able to monitor the whereabouts and every action of every player on the team. I'd love to hear this. Tracking attendance is not even close to tracking their every movement. He was drunk and attacked a cop. Kelly is a scumbag but this is not his fault. Now, if he doesn't punish him at all for it, then you can get on him. -
QUOTE (The Critic @ May 4, 2012 -> 10:11 AM) OT games or not, I actually have found this round of the playoffs to be quite boring. This is primarily because I don't really want any of the remaining teams to win other than maybe St. Louis, who are about to bow out. I've had enough, I'm taking your Hawks fan card away. Detroit and now them too?

Random thought: WTF is the point of the "Baby on Board" sticker? "Oh wow, there's a baby in there, I shouldn't drive recklessly." "OK, I can cut this guy off and if he hits a tree it's OK, I didn't see a "Baby on Board" sticker." Why...and how...should this affect anyone's driving habits?

I heard an interesting stat today...in 2012 smart phones are projected to out sell desktop computers.

I think I'll be the last person in the country without a smart phone. I'm already one of the few without facebook. Yay anti technology.

I wear pajamas every day to work. That is, if I bother to put pants on.

Epic game. Guys just sacrificing their bodies left and right in period 6, it's hard to match the dedication anywhere in sports.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 2, 2012 -> 01:14 PM) The chewing is related to the development of her teeth and gums...it has nothing to do with the chronology of her being adopted by you...(Edit: I should say most likely...it is possible it is a reaction to stress, but given her age, it probably is her teeth and gums) Her baby teeth might be getting ready to fall out or her gums may be aching...it's just part of having a puppy. When you catch her chewing on something she shouldn't be, tell her NO and take it away. Replace it with something she IS allowed to chew on, and when she does, say Good Girl! Repeat forever and ever. Eventually she should be able to learn what is off-limits and what she is allowed to chew on. And DO NOT buy toys shaped like an object you do not want her to chew on....such as a dog toy shaped like a shoe...then she will think your shoes are toys...I've never understood this one... Also, learn from your mistakes and take as much temptation away from her as possible...when you leave put things up high or in an enclosed room she has no access to. Yeah, we've been trying to say no every time we catch her, but aren't able to keep an eye on her 24/7. We hate putting her in the cage during those times (other than sleep time) because she goes absolutely bonkers in there, and she's been better about potty training etc. We put things in other rooms or up high, only things near ground most of the time is furniture, and no moving that. We were thinking about setting up a play pen area with a dog fence or whatever to give her room to roam and be out of the cage, but not be able to get to furniture. Thoughts? Would that work? Or just strictly use the cage for unsupervised times?
-
First few weeks no chewing issues, now she loves chewing on the ends of furniture, including table legs and stuff. WTF? She has like 12 toys. How to stop this behavior? I'm going to get some more larger bones in hopes those will curb it, not sure what else to do.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 11:46 AM) What isn't applicable? The show is just a showcase of various events in these characters' lives. There's really not a plot like Breaking Bad or Lost or something like that. In fact, that's what is so amazing about the writing of the show - you have absolutely no idea what's coming week to week. None. And yet you still want to tune in to see what happens next. I feel like you could have showed me a minute summary of season 1, and I would have been good going into season 2. It just seems like a lot of time wasted, because every week is something COMPLETELY different. Again, I'm still watching because it has been interesting.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 08:23 AM) Mad Men has really, really hit it's groove. Poor Sally grew up really quick. Last night might have been the tipping point for me with "The Killing". It's apparent they are just planning on introducing more and more bs and more and more characters that have had zero weight on the show thus far, while also pointing to different characters as the killer and building up huge evidence as to why it was said character before squashing it again. I think it's pretty clear the killer is going to come out of nowhere, and I feel like everything I've watched leading up to each moment is of zero consequence, because they seem to just be throwing darts at the mystery dartboard. I feel like this season has been interesting, and I will continue to watch because no use stopping now. But I feel like so much stuff in season 1 is completely irrelevant now, I almost can't remember any of it, and I don't think I need to do so. There's so many characters now it's ridiculous. Hopefully when it's solved we can piece stuff back together and the show will turn up genius. But I know there's no guarantee that happens, I'm just hoping.
