  1. QUOTE (farmteam @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 09:25 PM) Anyone watching the Frozen Four? Minnesota-North Dakota with a real good one going on. Because Indiana doesn't have a D1 hockey team, it's the only sport I root for the Gophers in. I am, good game here. Saw the first one as well, Union/BC. Got kind of crazy at the end, Union pulled it out.
  2. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 11:45 AM) I think Chirs Kuc heard you asking, lol: Chris Kuc ‏@ChrisKuc 10m Jonathan Toews could begin skating tomorrow. #Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said Toews & Patrick Kane will be 100 percent for playoffs. First of all, skating has nothing to do his shoulder/collarbone/whatever. Second of all, LMAO, sure thing, Dr. Q. Again, all media pandering at this point. 100 percent for playoffs = unknown % for playoffs but high enough to play.
  3. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 11:33 AM) I guess the wording on my original comment was confusing, but I agree that neither of them is 100% and won't be until they give those injuries their proper time to heal (offseason), I meant 100% of the regular starting lines back on the ice. Either way, I'm not saying their injuries are minimal or quick fixes, but I do believe both of these guys will be on the ice come game 1,theres no way Toews will say no to playing, how effective they'll be is tough to gauge but we'll find out. I don't doubt Toews will most likely play in game 1. I think he'd probably play in game 1 if it was today, unless something's actually broken or whatever. The term resting implied that they were close to ready, but Q is just giving them these games off just to be safe, just to give them some extra time. I don't think that's the case. I think Toews' injury was probably pretty significant, yet he'll suddenly be "ready" on the date of game 1. But who knows? Maybe he won't. All the other stuff was media pandering as to not cause panic, and not telling anyone else how significant the injury is. None of it is a pat on the back for Q resting them or playing it smart, they are/were both broken so he couldn't use them anyway. Either way I don't have a great feeling about round 1, be it the Avs or the Blues. Really hope I'm wrong, I just get that 2011 & 2012 vibe going right now based on injuries/depth and how they've been playing the past month.
  4. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 11:21 AM) Dude, you act like i'm questioning his toughtness, the guy is a fierce leader. But why wouldn't you give the guy as much time as you can to heal? him missing the last 6 games of the Regular season would literally not make or break the season. No, we all know he's tough, that was my point. Guy would play through anything, but it doesn't mean he's guaranteed to be 100% or near healthy/effective. I agree with giving them time to heal - since they are injured - but you are making it sound like they are at 99% and we may as well just give them a ton of time off just for the hell of it. Guys want and need to play, especially when it's meaningful. Taking 2-3 weeks off and then jumping into game 1 isn't that easy. It's not a video game. I just don't see where it's guaranteed he plays game 1, or really, that he's back to 100% for game one. I did LOL when they said basically announced "both out for regular season but back for playoffs," as if we'll really believe the injuries aren't serious, and are magically only thinks that knock them out of the rest of the regular season. They were never going to be straightforward with the injuries when they don't have to do so. Even if Toews was out 6 weeks, they would have had the same message. Toews right now can't play, Kane hasn't been able to play. If they were near-ready, they would have been playing. 1st and 2nd were still within reach as of 2 weeks ago, and the Blues have completely s*** the bed. Even if you gave up on 1st, they were virtually tied with the Avs for 2nd/3rd.
  5. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 11:18 AM) right. Beyond weak.
  6. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 11:13 AM) See post #1167 Patrick Kane is skating and practicing and Q has said Toews would be playing if it was up to him Like I already said, If Toews NEEDED to play he would be playing, but he does NOT NEED to play until the playoffs Patrick Kane was not declared day to day,he was pronounced out for the rest of the regular season, his injury being more serious than Toews Once again, refer to post #1167 Mr.almighty hockey expert Toews would play with one leg, so that doesn't really tell me if he's anywhere near healthy or not. This is from a guy who played right through a concussion, then returned to the playoffs earlier than he should have, and admitted it later.
  7. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 11:15 AM) I'm done feeding you man, stop trolling me Then stop posting straight-up nonsense.
  8. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 11:13 AM) See post #1168 Patrick Kane is skating and practicing and Q has said Toews would be playing if it was up to him Like I already said, If Toews NEEDED to play he would be playing, but he does NOT NEED to play until the playoffs Patrick Kane was not declared day to day,he was pronounced out for the rest of the regular season, his injury being more serious than Toews Once again, refer to post #1168 Mr.almighty hockey expert Says who? Mr. Hawks fan since 2010?
  9. BTW, I think it's far from a guarantee that Toews is ready for game 1. And if he is, he's not 100%. And you clearly don't know what day-to-day means in hockey. That could mean 6 weeks. You can't arbitrarily say "out for regular season" and then oh no worries, totally back in time for playoffs at 100%. Yeah, right. He's not resting.
  10. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 06:24 AM) If Toews was absolutely necessary he'd be on the ice.but he's not, because the Hawks would rather have both those guys rehab their injuries as much as they can. They are not meaningless games, but not crucial either. So we don't have to agree and to each their own man. You're right, we don't have to agree on guys being injured = "resting", in your opinion. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 07:59 AM) I saw Kane at Palace Grill. He didn't appear to be limping or anything. He's just starting to skate, so we know he's not 100% but it's a good sign. But he hasn't been "resting" for 9 games.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 07:30 AM) Spartan spur fan and Adrien Payne companion, Princess Lacey died. Awful. She looked healthy on TV. Did a good job hiding it. Wow, absolutely terrible.
  12. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 03:33 PM) yea....no. Day to Day means Day to Day in any sport, the only reason it ran through the end of the season was because there were only a few games left and the way the standings look the Hawks won't get much better positioning than where they are currently at. You don't sit players for weeks on end before the playoffs for "rest." Maybe a game or two at the end, but that's about it. This isn't coach Q being smart. If they were healthy or close to healthy, they'd be playing. They are still playing for home ice advantage, it's not like these games are meaningless on top of it. The guys were both fairly significantly injured, the end.
  13. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 12:38 PM) I think it's a real possibility the Hawks are close to 100% by next week, Q did a good job resting his 2 star players and I like the benching of Saad since Morin has been stepping it up,providing a much needed spark. Resting? What?
  14. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 01:06 PM) Personal interaction with him when I lived in Memphis. He acts like your best friend ("hey buddy", slap you on the back, etc), but I always got the feeling it wasn't genuine. And he's cheap and didn't tip anyone at our country club. I'm an overtipper, and worked in the service industry during high school/college. I can't stand people that don't tip, especially those who make millions of dollars a year like Cal. On the other hand, Tommy West (who was Memphis' football coach at the time) would sit there and talk with you for 20 minutes. Genuinely great guy. I always got the vibe that he's "fake nice"
  15. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 12:32 PM) Bernstein is the biggest tool out there. I guarantee you what happened was 20 years ago Bernstein was being an asshole and Coach K told him to stop or that he didn't like something Bernstein wrote or whatever, and for 20 years Bernstein has held a grudge about it. That's just the way he is. Coach K could be the biggest asshole in the world, I have no idea. What I do know is very few of his players or assistant coaches ever talk bad about the guy. So I tend to believe the lack of any evidence of this issue is more telling than a lone DJ from Chicago who used to be a Duke student in the 80's. And again, even if he is a prick, so what? He's ruled over college basketball for 2.5 decades now. I think he has the right to run the program as he sees fit. And if it's holding out a top 5 lottery pick because he feels that's the best way to win, so be it. I feel icky defending him or Duke so I have to go take a shower now. From what I understand, he wasn't part of the story. You're wrong on this one. Dan hates people that deserve hating I.e. going to town on Penn st etc. Hes also hinted at other stories, but again, from what he says it didn't have to do with him. Hes connected and in the media, but take stupid shots all you want. Hes also FAR from the only person that has said or heard bad things about him.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 12:00 PM) Pssh, Bernstein saying that means Coach K is a freakin' saint. I mean yes, Coach K is obviously synonymous with Duke, but can't the same be said for MSU and Izzo? Or Boeheim and Syracuse. Or in the past Knight and Indiana? When you're at a program for decades and you're successful, how can you not be the most famous/important person there? You may be joking - but no, it really doesn't. Dan generally hates people for good reason, and the way in which he talks whenever Coach K comes up lets you know it. He was pretty close to him for a long time and knows much more than we do, so that works for me. Plus you listen to the guy talk about Duke, the ACC, etc, he's just a prick. Boeheim is right there with him, though for once I was on his side with the Ennis comments.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 09:11 AM) I've never heard of a former Coach K player complain about him. And those that are still famous are 100% pro-Duke and pro-Coach K. I really hate being the person to defend him or the school, but what evidence do you have of this dictatorship? Just because he won't succumb to me-first players? QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 09:27 AM) I'm not saying that he treats players like crap or that it's a miserable experience there. It's just that he IS Duke basketball, and there is nothing more important that him, not the school, the town, the players. His basketball record speaks for itself, so people buy into it and accept it. There are reports about him threatening to ban campus newspapers & organizations for daring to criticize him or anything he does. LittleHurt, you obviously have heard Dan Bernstein talk about Coach K. Dan went to Duke and would have every reason to love Duke and Coach K, but he absolutely cannot stand him. That tells me enough right there, in addition to the stories he's told on air, including the one you referenced.
  18. Nope, it's this guy http://deadspin.com/uconn-ra-will-not-tole...-1560355781/all

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 10:28 PM) Krush in 3...2...1... Haha. I'll be honest, I haven't seen anything outside the Sox games this year, and one I was at the game where I'm not going to call pitches from the stands. Couldn't tell you one way or another right now. I guess if I think about it most pitches right on the edge of the pitch trax they've had as strikes, which is a good thing. Sometimes those hit the outside of the box on the pitch trax, but it's called a ball. Early in the season, you're generally trying to get guys swinging and keep the game moving, within reason. Hitters seem to still be ahead of pitchers anyway. Call strikes, and call them often (obviously within reason).
  20. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 08:20 PM) Thing is, I don't know of any other park where you can watch the game from anywhere on the lower deck concourse. People hang out the entire game on the concourse because there are several spots that provide very good views. I will say this, now that I've been to a bunch of other stadiums, the concourses at USCF do feel tight. They should have been designed much wider. Plus, the layout of the food stands is terrible. All the lines jut into the walkway, and there's no where for anyone to go. You've got food lines on both sides of the concourse, to the point where they almost meet. Lot of other parks have better set ups, and there are plenty where you can still see the game from the majority of the concourse. I don't have a great solution, but it seems ridiculous that we're the only park (that I know of) that has this policy. I know a ton of people who can't stand the UD only policy, and I'm sure some people don't go to as many games just due to the fact that you can't get down there whatsoever for all the other amenities. If you bring a family, it'd be great to be able to get downstairs for some amenities, then go sit upstairs. I'm sure some families can't afford lower deck tickets for every game, just so they can use that concourse. Is there even a family bathroom in the UD?
  21. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 07:21 PM) The problem is the lower deck got far too crowded before the rule was instituted. Navigating the lower deck with a crowd 25K+ is challenging enough with the rule in place. I see your point, but no other ball club/stadium has this problem, or has come up with a solution?
  22. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 05:51 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@DanHayesCSN 27s Abreu is rule safe though the replay appeared to look as if Hosmer had his foot on the bag. Get outta here Hayes He's right, his foot was on the bag. The reason it took so long is because the ball came loose. By the time he had possession, his foot was then off the bag. Good call, good review, that's why it took longer than usual. No one noticed the ball, apparently.
  23. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 12:04 PM) Offensively I'll give that statement the benefit of the doubt but what about defensively which has been by far our achillies heel this year. Our Defense aside from the 4th shift is last years championship defense. Keith and Hjarmy look especially off. See: bad hockey. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 03:10 PM) And Corey Crawford f***ing sucks and will make $36 million dollars over the next 6 years. God I f***ing hate it. Dude I meant to ask you, did you want that Crawford jersey in red or white? Sorry for the delay.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 03:58 PM) Looks like he was out when he switched hands. I saw what you saw. But if he believes Alexei helped his arm off whatsoever, he's still safe. I think that's maybe what Robin was asking about. I think Alexei did help his arm come off with some push.
  25. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 03:56 PM) Really sucks not to get actual starting pitching today. It's OK, the bullpen is well rested.
