  1. I think it's pretty much the truth, sports are about people and the "why" or "how" part.
  2. Why do they get more money? Because they are a form of entertainment. While it's unquestionable soldiers are more important to my life than Paul Konerko, i am not about to pay to watch them shoot the enemy. Good points in that post though, Tex.
  3. Some of the media questions are ridiculous, but a complete boycott of the media is also, well, ridiculous. While i understand where LaTroy is coming from, a boycott is a bit drastic i think. He should just use this as a "warning" to the media, and from now on if it gets out of hand, all he has to say is "i'm done with this now" or "next question" or something of that nature. I don't know if not talking at all is the solution to the problem. How many guys have attempted to boycott the media an entire season and done it? Seems a lot of guys boycott the media only to come back eventually. If LaTroy flourishes as a closer, he'll want to talk about it in a few weeks.
  4. Who gets lefties out before the 9th inning?
  5. It's in HDTV now, though i don't have it so i don't know how cool it looks. Regardless, the studio looks like it's from another planet, or from the year 2050. Wow does it look really, really weird...even all the graphics are strange.
  6. Dan Pohlman, who went to my high school - Barrington High School (also home of Dan Wilson), got drafted by Texas in the 15th round. He is at NW, and dropped football to solely play baseball now. That's pretty cool.
  7. Pretty good game, really picked up in the last 15 minutes...after Calgary got their goal on a ridiculously completely made up call. Saprykin checks Pratt into his net, Pratt gets a penalty. Can't expect anything less out of Fraser and McCreary. Richards and Fedotenko were clutch all playoffs, good to see Richards took home the Conn Smythe, he was my pick. And now no NHL hockey til.....................................
  8. But that effects both teams and can't be changed in-game. It's completely different than this situation.
  9. Enjoy the game everyone, i'll be on late to talk about it. Go 'ning in a thrilling game...
  10. Upon further review, the point has been taken away from TexSox
  11. Well right now it's pick your poison. They all have had a terrible series. I hope Fraser and McCreary just put the whistles away and let them play. Fraser loves dictating the game based on the score, it's lame. I better not notice them tonight, AT ALL
  12. And what is Colon doing now? Fans accepting not spending? What should we do, stop going to the games? Oh wait, we already do that Yes, we are in Chicago, but a high percentage of people in this city are cubs fans. This makes us more similar to a mid market team than it does a huge market team like NY. We are nothing close to the Yankees in that respect. If you are trying to tell me that the Yankees are good because the fans put pressure on Steinbrenner, and therefore they would have signed Colon and Ordonez, etc...i don't know what to tell you there, that's just BS This city can support a better team if it wins, and fans start supporting the Sox in return. Until then, we have to deal with this budget that isn't as high as we would wish.
  13. Brad watson and kerry fraser were scheduled to work game 6 in calgary, but were bumped back to game 7 according to the press notes for tonight's game, watson is out for tonight, and bill mccreary will ref his third straight game along with fraser
  14. I was eating, and I threw a fork down the hallway upstairs after ball 4
  15. goldmember, when you get a chance could you put IlliniKrush in my signature instead of "koch this" if it's not too big of a hassle? I want to save everyone from looking at koch any longer than they have to. Thanks.
  16. Actually, it would have been a hollywood ending if the fastball in the dirt went to the backstop. Sandy made the stop, allowing the walk to take place.
  17. Of course i want this team to win. But your earlier posts led me to believe that they should just spend spend spend and lose a ton of money in hopes of winning a world series. You said "i don't care if we lose money and win a WS." That's nice, but there's no guarantee that if you do spend money (and go into a hole) you'll win the world series. It's not reasonable, because if it doesn't happen the organization will just keep going backwards. You can only work with the amount of money you have, hope to turn a profit, and put a winning team on the field at the same time. Also, your yankee reference makes no sense. Of course fans don't care what the payroll is, it's not their money. It's not yours; and the things you are saying are unrealistic (not to mention that Colon in here woul be a HUGE waste of money right now). Oh, and point for your Steff comment.
  18. You are missing my point. It's not OUR money. Hell, i'd rather have them spend spend spend and win, go for it. Reality is they can't, and i understand that it's not reasonable for the Sox to lose money.
  19. The draft is not an exact science, Brando We are years away from having a consensus on how good of a pick it was
  20. Way to nitpick, is that your first post of the day?
  21. And seeing as this will probably be the last NHL hockey game until....(2005? 2006? there is world cup later this year), please enjoy it
  22. Or are they baseball players pretending to be football players?
