BrandoFan hits on an important reason to loathe the Cubs. What's good for them is bad for us, so you root against them. Whether or not you realize it, you do care about what they are doing over there. They care about we are doing as well, but not nearly to our extent, since they have the upper hand right now.

Somehow Mariotti is responsible for this.

Oh man, this is nowhere near a sport, these guys are absolutely comical Since when does something being hard (to do at a fast rate or in large quantities, etc) make it a sport? I can't type 200 words per minute...does that mean that someone who can type 200/min can claim that typing is a sport too?

I do care if the cubs lose because i absolutely hate the cubs. That doesn't mean i care about what they do more than i care about the Sox winning, but that's what people like to play if off as, concerning Sox fans. I hate the Cubs because of the Cubs fans. All the people i've grown up with, and everyone in my extended family are all Cubs fans, and they piss me off. They are so arrogant, cocky, and act like the Cubs are America's team and that the Sox don't exist. They never shut up about the Cell et al. It gets real old. Last year i had to listen to so much crap because they were in 1st, made the playoffs, etc. That was enough reason for them to just bash the Sox left and right, trust me. I loathe the Cubs and all their bandwagon jumping fans, who littered my computer screen with messages day after day last fall at school. 90% of these were complete bandwagon jumpers who watched maybe 5 games all year and would not stop with the Sox crap.

Complete bulls*** If you tell a cubs fan the cubs won OR lost, the first question they ask is "Did sammy go yard?" or "Did sammy hit one?" This was especially true before the past 2 seasons

Mike Smith will get his money
IlliniKrush replied to IlliniKrush's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The Hawks were wrong here, Smith deserved the money regardless of the type of job he did. That's pretty obvious, you can't say "oh we aren't paying you because we don't feel like it" -
SWUNG ON BELTED!!!!!!!!!!!! Caught.

Uribe...he couldn't hit for jack in Coors Field???? Then hits in a 'normal' park? That's just ridiculous. I thought hitting .250 would be a stretch
-
A minor league deal wouldn't hurt He could be done, he could just suck, or he could just need a change of venue
-
This just isn't right... Thoughts and prayers go out to him and the families involved May you find happiness in Heaven little hero

Greatness resides in Chi town baby.....
IlliniKrush replied to sox-r-us's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
If it's "best team", it's the Miracle on Ice team without a doubt. It didn't say most talented. That 80 team defined the meaning of team, they were a team in every sense of the word. No doubt they weren't as talented, but what they pulled off as a team was far more remarkable than any of the 'dominant' teams. That's why they should be #1 or left off the list, depending on the scoring standards, you know? -
Here's someone who's not too fond of what
IlliniKrush replied to Wise Master Buehrle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That's definitely false, the fans on field incidents got plenty of publicity, but i don't think that was good publicity. -

The Miracle on Ice team either has to be first or not on the list. I heard on the official list that gets revealed tonight, they are #7 or something. First or off the list, there's no in between. -
It works for me, but i'll post it here, sorry cw: ******************************* Man allegedly in al-Qaida plot to bomb Ohio shopping mall Suspect got terror training in Africa before returning to carry out attack, indictment says Nuradin Abdi is charged with conspiring to bomb an unidentified shopping mall in Ohio as well as with immigration fraud. NBC News and news services Updated: 1:42 p.m. ET June 14, 2004 WASHINGTON - A Columbus, Ohio, man has been charged with participating in an al-Qaida plot to blow up an Ohio shopping mall, Attorney General John Ashcroft announced Monday. advertisement "The American heartland was targeted for death and destruction by an al-Qaida cell," Ashcroft said at a news conference announcing the four-count indictment of 32-year-old Nuradin Abdi, who originally is from Somalia. A four-count indictment returned by a criminal grand jury in Columbus and unsealed on Monday charges that Abdi conspired with admitted al-Qaida member Iyman Faris and others to detonate a bomb at the unidentified shopping mall in the Columbus area after he obtained military-style training in Ethiopia. Immigration document fraud also alleged Abdi also is charged with fraud and misuse of documents by claiming that he had been granted valid asylum status in the United States. In fact, prosecutors say, he obtained that refugee document under false pretenses. There also is one count each of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists and conspiracy to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization, in this case al-Qaida. The charges against Abdi, who has been in custody since November on immigration-related violations, were handed up by the grand jury last Thursday. Each count of the terrorism related charges carries a maximum 30-year sentence and the immigration charges carry maximum penalties of 25 years behind bars, Ashcroft said. A government motion seeking to keep Abdi in detention says he returned to the United States from Africa in March 2000 and was met at the airport in Columbus by Faris. Those two and other unidentified coconspirators were involved in the alleged shopping mall plot, prosecutors say. Secret travel to Africa charged One of the immigration charges contends that Abdi concealed his true destination when he applied on April 27, 1999, for a U.S. travel document. He said he was going to Germany and Saudi Arabia to visit Mecca and relatives. In fact, “as the defendant well knew, he planned to travel to Ogaden, Ethiopia, for the purpose of obtaining military-style training in preparation for violent Jihad,” the indictment says. The training allegedly included use of guns, bombs and guerrilla warfare. Faris, 34, is serving a 20-year federal sentence after pleading guilty last June to providing material support to al-Qaida. Faris, an Ohio-based truck driver originally from Kashmir, admitted plotting to sever the cables supporting the Brooklyn Bridge in New York and to derail trains in New York or Washington. Neither of those plots came to fruition. Faris had received instructions from top al-Qaida leader Khalid Shaikh Mohammed for what might have been a second wave of attacks to follow those of Sept. 11, 2001, investigators say. Mohammed, the alleged mastermind of the hijackings, is in U.S. custody at an undisclosed overseas location. © 2004 MSNBC Interactive

Busch stadium is alright, i think the atmosphere is pretty cool though. Fans are passionate, knowledgeable If you want, you can get a haircut while watching the game...ya, one of the things you can do at the ballpark Also, they have this really large beer, it's like easily twice the size of a normal beer, i think it'd be cool to down one of those (even if it's like 8 bucks or something)
