Ah, watching that ball sail into the left field bleachers was a true joy, as i stood clapping surrounded by thousands of thousands of Cubs fans. Most confident and relaxed i've ever felt at a baseball game i think

Hawks ask Caps about No.1 pick

Well, since this is a two player draft, like i said, getting one of those 2 picks is going to be tough to come by. I like the idea of getting Ovechkin. But giving up as much as you said is A LOT. Especially considering our piss poor record of drafting...if we have very few high picks, we'd HAVE to come through on them. And quite frankly Dumas and Co. couldn't find talent if it was skating in front of them. We need as many picks as we can to just hope to get lucky (hey, remember dan cleary? ty jones? superstars...) I'd be willing to swap picks this year, give them a good prospect and then like a 2 and 3, one this year and one next...and give them the option to swap picks next year with us. I don't know if that's exactly fair, but i don't really wanna go beyond that. This draft isn't very deep. It's not terrible, but next year is much better. God damn draft lottery...can't get one of two guys i want. As far as the pick goes, though we have a lot of depth at D in the minors, i still think we can go with Barker there. He's slated to be a 1/2 dman and i've heard nothing but great things about him. We can always move one of our d prospects in the future anyways. Plus, i like building from the net out, so you can never have too many defensive prospects in my eyes. I think he's the consensus #3 pick from all the scouting stuff i've read. You mentioned vorobiev. Throw Yakubov in there...they were drafted in the same round, same year anyway. Boh of them are pissing me off. They've shown me nothing, especially Yakubov. These guys were supposed to be studs...right now they are barely 4th line material. I'm trying to remain patient, but they've been given every opportunity to succeed and haven't done much with it. There are other guys on this team passing them by, who weren't as big of prospects as they were. But hey, should i be surprised? Hawks draft picks that don't pan out? If you think Hawks in 02 was good (ya i was there for both games), try the Stanley Cup finals against Pittsburgh. Or any Chicago Stadium game that mattered in the early 90's. I was at the Cup finals, and about 200-300 games before it got torn down (we had season tickets til they moved to the UC and my family became so busy we couldn't make nearly all the games). I tend to ignore people who say "hockey is stupid" or "who cares." I feel sorry for them, they don't know what they are missing. Sure now it sucks, but i know what it once was (and what it will be again?) Oh yeah, and the contract given to Sutter is complete bulls***. This team is going nowhere fast with him behind the bench. I was pissed for days after that was announced. He's terrible with young guys, terrible. Here's my article from the all-star break of this year, i'm sure you never saw it but you'll appreciate anything Hawks related: http://www.chicagosportsreview.com/localop...iew.asp?c=94500 -

Hawks ask Caps about No.1 pick
IlliniKrush replied to EvilJester99's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
CWSGuy, the Hawks are actually my #1 team...no not just hockey, all sports. I am as die hard as they come Let me know when the puck drops on the next NHL season, and we'll hit up some games. BTW, it's 8 bucks with the student ID And to get Ovechkin, i bet the Caps would ask for Ruutu in any offer. Hell, i know i would. Seabrook and a possible exchange of next year's pick probly wouldn't be good enough. -
Any of you gamble on sports online? Anyone recommend any particular online sports book to use?

Unless it's in the Eastern Conference finals against Tampa, where he was invisible.
