  1. I really hope Kjerstad and Ortiz wasn't the O's offer ?
  2. fangraphs has Iriarte as the padres best pitching prospect. 61 overall... but neither made keith laws list. O's still could've easily beat this trade but meh time will tell I guess this thread was a fun one?
  3. notable prospects? has to be 2 of Thorpe/Lesko/Snelling Riiight???
  4. this is the perfect time for the O's to finally offer Kjerstad and Norby for Cease ?
  5. "And unless a case is made that the investment yields a long-term return for the taxpayers that we can justify in some way, I haven’t seen that yet." Is he suggesting they should also propose opening a migrant camp on the 78? ? of the $50B in his budget I wonder how much of that actually "yields a long-term return for the taxpayers"
  6. a lot of people seem ignorant to how the world really works. At the end of the day, JR and JB are on the same team. Billionaires look out for other billionaires... you're also forgetting that the newest Sox shareholder (30%) has assets worth over double JRs and didn't just buy in to stay at 35th when a prime location is available. The money is already there but JR is doing his due diligence to squeeze as much juice as he can. the most interesting scenario to come out of all this seems to be the bears building on the north parking lots. A perfect storm is brewing where everyone wins.
  7. O's might as well pay the premium now instead of at the deadline. They had the extra leverage of always being able to offer Ortiz at the break for the best SP but got lucky when the brewers gave up early.
  8. just when I thought I was out they pull me back in pushing through an UCL tear has to suck knowing on any pitch it could snap
  9. if none of those teams could've outbid the O's offer for Burnes I doubt any of them had a serious offer for Cease...
  10. this seems like a win now trade. There's still 2 great SPs left to choose from to build a .500 team.......?
  11. seemed like a really bad trade until I looked at DeLoachs stats and realized hes our new backup LF/RF lol. a 35+ grade but did pretty well in AAA ?‍♂️ Berroa has nasty stuff with no command but selling on Santos was probably the right move edit: did not see the fletcher trade ?
  12. holy s%*# what a nasty trade. Brewer fans should be pissed bravo O's GM, good job
  13. We've all accepted that cease will degrade into a 33 year old cease for the 2024 season. that's why his value only tops out at a joey ortiz 1:1 trade.
  14. I fully support the O's trading Mayo for Luzardo ? gotta pay that premium to force the marlins out of a wildcard position.
  15. We're sitting on cowser as the current (rumored) main piece and you want to downgrade to westburg? no shot. I see the O's moving forward with Kjer as their LF/RF and eventually cashing out on cowser. Getz still wants Mayo tho...
  16. Jones is too risky with his already destroyed elbow. Lets just wait for snell to sign and the O's offer Mayo ?
  17. cowser will not replace hays in LF until 2026. So you're willing to hoard 3 best case 50 grade RFs for an extra 2 years instead of building the best AL team in 24/25? okay Face it, Mayo and Kjer have no place on the orioles and your GM is just going to waste their primes...
  18. most of us here lived through 2005 and are content knowing there will never be another white sox team to top them. The O's on the other hand have a chance to build their best team since Ripken started his streak... but they're balking over giving up their 2026 1B (Mayo) or 2025 RF (Cowser) and 2026 DH (Kjer)
  19. I'd rather enjoy watching at least 25 Sox games this year with Cease then settling on players that will make little impact over 6 years ?‍♂️
  20. I've accepted that the O's are just staying put and getting the best rental they can for Ortiz at the break (if they're still in it)
  21. Ortiz has zero value to the sox since he's just a 3 years younger nicky lopez ?
  22. this is the proposal all the yankee fans are saying is an overpay everyone forgets to add in the ~$35M you're saving by not having to pay cease $30M a year
  23. the sad part is If the O's (2nd lowest payroll in MLB) signed Snell or Montgomery and traded for Cease they'd be pennant favs for the next 2 years. Instead we're arguing about Cease's value for players that are blocked until 2026 ?
