  1. braves can still trade for cease... AJSS is the prize, grissom is basically a worse joey ortiz
  2. his HR rate doubled in 2023 but other than that he's solid #5 on a 4th place team? hope he rebounds to his 2021 self
  3. Looking at the orioles depth chart its clear their GM wants all 3 of the stud prospects we need a package built around starting for them in 2025. I'm fully prepared for the rumored AJSS+ return unless the dodgers can top them. Hes the ace of half the league and the #2 on the other half...
  4. at this point it wouldn't surprise me if Getz is asking for Mayo/Cowser + Kjerstad throw in eloy too if it gets a deal done
  5. have to wonder what the dodgers offer for cease is/was. TB got one of their best SP prospects and a player that could be a sox RF starter for 1 season of a 120 inning pitcher... With mlb-ready Sheehan,Stone, and Grove available they still have enough ammo to get cease but without Pepiot it doesn't look as attractive. Sox still in a position to trade their ace to fill their 2/3/4 SP holes for the next 5 years.
  6. and he doesn't start fist fights with other teams?
  7. What a bust. Might as well add to payroll to fill 1yr holes and try to build a 3rd place team.
  8. cease was ranked #17 in fWAR but #28 in xFIP. worst case its safe to say hes a bottom third Ace. I overvalued Gios value at the deadline but the dodgers need to give up 2 SP here. Trading 2 years of an ace for around 10 years worth of #3/4s seems fair (Pepiot/Grove/Sheehan/Stone). Outman just has too much value stored up. The play was to trade for him last off season. I'd like to imagine 2 of those 4 SP are already in an offer and Getz is waiting for someone to top it
  9. f*** this franchise until JR is gone I'll always rep the thomas and konerko eras tho
  10. guy puts up 18fWAR for $40m over his sox career and they cut bait after 1 bad season with holes at SS/2B. oh well, at least JR gets more money for his parking lots.
  11. this just tells you how broken bWAR is vs fWAR for pitchers. Kopech sucks but a real pitching coach could probably fix his (and the teams) control issues
  12. kind of feel bad for him. its only been 7 games since he was traded but I think he pitched himself out of a 100M+ contract
  13. time to turn around the franchise building around Robert/Cease entering 2024 would be any competent GMs dream
  14. pay him his 15M next year just to be an ambassador for the team. people like liam don't come around that often.
  15. easy D. He got talent back but nothing really helps the Sox compete in Cease/Roberts prime years. Thought for sure he'd be able to pick up some MLB ready SPs (with 6 years of control) to field a reasonable starting rotation next year for a .500 team. Otherwise why not do a proper rebuild?
  16. sox just got their catcher for the next 6 years and all it took was a 4.85 xFIP reliever? great move his scouting is all over the place (30 hit tool?) but a 75 overall rank and 50 FV from fangraphs is good enough for me
  17. So the angels decide they're going for it and in a couple of hours pull off this trade? Sounds like no other team had any serious offers on the table. A great trade on paper but one that doesn't help the current core. Such a pity the Dodgers had no intention of acquiring Gio.
  18. the difference is the McCaskeys own a beloved $6B franchise while Jerry owns 20% of a $2B franchised that's only known for their logo. Jerry doesnt care about the taxes he just wants "white sox owner" on his tombstone. thats worth more than the extra $20M in taxes he saves his kids .
  19. I'm not getting my hopes up for any good returns after seeing what the Royals got for the best RP available a month before the deadline. (Chapman 1.4 fWAR for the Rangers ranked 20 & 35 prospects) Have to imagine if hahn was offered a top 50 for gio, he'd be gone already.
  20. Wonder what the Dodgers offered hahn for TA when Lux got hurt. Imagine if it was outman. ?
  21. kopech proves himself as an average 5th starter a move to the pen looks to be in his future where he only has to focus on 1 inning of work luckily the clevinger drama worked itself out and 1-4 looks solid
  22. if this is all for a better fan experience why not allow the use of HGH for special cases throughout the season? like for injury recovery and for players over 30 I don't care about timers, robo umps, or larger bases but having the average players prime be between ages 25-30 is so boring when the league can easily extend it by 5 more years professional sports overall are far behind the science here
  23. still cant believe the Sox passed on both Wacha and Chafin for pretty much .75WAR valued contracts. After losing the #5 and closer spots it just seems asinine. Jerry pretty much accepting this is a 3rd place team.
