  1. this is the perfect time for the fanbase to demand hahn and co get fired. plus expect a lot more anti-jerry sentiment at the park this year... signing wacha and keeping this moron away from the team seemed like such an obvious move. angering the MLB or union over protecting an alleged child abuser is laughable.
  2. gross. you'd figure the chisox corp would draw the line at being investigated for child abuse... this investigation has been going on for over 6 months now. dude is toxic to both the players and fanbase
  3. the main difference is he's being accused of child abuse. you don't recover from that. If he's suspended the Sox should void the contract (violated 7(b)1 of the players contract) wait for the grievance then handle it with arbitration or a settlement. If the union wants to stand behind child abusers then so be it... Plus is there even precedence for a team unknowingly signing a player that's being investigated by the MLB?
  4. So if it's true and the MLB rules against him the contract is void... Odds are this will drag on until at least Summer time to start looking for new a #5
  5. how does a team that just lost its closer not take this gamble? Diekmans making more than chapman in '23 ? other than Chafin I don't see any other consistent BP options left
  6. worst case, cespedes will make a solid 4th OF the only thing I see the sox looking for now is a catcher and maybe an extra bullpen arm
  7. SF and NY should be penalized in some way. You can't offer someone you know that has a bum ankle a crazy deal then pull out when the physical shows the obvious. It's bad for baseball. Aside from that... what can the Sox get for Moncada now? Escobar + Mauricio seems fair but most here would probably just take Escobar and the $29m savings in 2024 lol Moncada is a high ceiling gamble for the Mets and worth the gamble for a team looking for a deep playoff run
  8. the astros cheated to win a world series... the worst the MLB will do to the Mets is fine them and take away a draft pick. It just sounds like he violated an unwritten rule. the Sox should see what they can get for Moncada if the deal falls through
  9. I wouldn't be opposed to trading hendriks AND eloy for alvarez + baty then basically start a soft rebuild for 2024 mccann and escobar are garbage tho. would rather have gary sanchez and segura
  10. did anyone even research this? After seeing how Deshaun Watson was handled I think he'll pitch again without much blow back. Wouldn't be surprised if he signs with the Cleveland to be their #2.
  11. Great signing. A lot of people don't realize how shallow the LF talent pool is. Conforto/Profar will end up signing cheaper team friendly deals but I'd rather lock down a 28 y/o top 10 LF for 5 years at a 2WAR price.
  12. Do the past 10 years and this is a completely different looking chart with rodon and anderson. But thats why he chose 2015 I guess
  13. 8M for a starting 2B that can play the corner OF in a pinch. this means JR gave the green light to sign Drury or Segura... right? lol
  14. it'll take at least 4/60 to sign Benintendi since his contract estimate is 4/56 on fangraphs. Buying only his prime years for around 15M per is one of the best OF deals you can make this offseason. I can see the Yankees offering something like 5/80 tho. Conforto is a good plan B. He hasn't played LF since 2018 but he'll be better than Eloy. Profar as plan C and worst case the Sox sign Gallo. Anyone else and they're not taking 2023 seriously.
  15. Hahn had to pay a $4M Sox tax just to have Clevinger sign early. I bet it would've taken at least $20M to get Thor since in LA it'll be easier to pad his stats for a potential huge contract next year. 29/30 GMs would take a 30 year old coming off tommy john vs a 32 coming off his second.
  16. Based on some of the deals given out since this was first announced I'm coming around to liking this deal more and more. After watching some of this 2022 highlights its good price for a #5 and I look forward to rooting for him.
  17. I'd rather trade lynn and hendricks then get creative with the extra 33m saved Both have generous club options and should also return average starter talent If done correctly hahn could fill 2 holes plus have around 60m+ to spend while only losing an aging #3 and closer best case with gio is you'll get around 2WAR in return but won't get any payroll relief
  18. 2 tommy johns and injury prone 32 year old. Surprised Haun couldn't find a better #5 solution in-house... The sad part is clevinger is probably now the #4 ahead of kopech. Still a massive hole at LF, yet Haun spends 1/4th the budget on a gamble lol. But nice of Haun to double this guys retirement fund I guess.
  19. Colas better be the #1 option for RF... Hopefully the war room is now deciding on who gets the best offer between Benintendi, Conforto, Profar, Pederson for LF. But I can also see the Sox saving money by rolling out Cespedes/Eloy in LF for 2023.
  20. So does letting a potential cy young pitcher walk for nothing eclipse the Tatis trade? Tatis turned out to be a $300m cheater while the Sox would've won the division with Rodon ?
  21. Sox just got beat by a better team. Not much you could do.
  22. looking at the schedule, cease is starting against the dians on Thurs... right? They have the next monday off so he'll get the normal 4 days rest for the Tues game against the dians. splitting velasquez/lopez/lambert or even calling up martin for the last place rockies on Wed seems like the smart play
  23. maybe he shouldn't punched a wall then ?‍♀️
  24. can we start the draft pick thread yet? currently #15, a top 10 is within reach considering the sox play elite teams like the twins(9) and guardians(4) 13 times
  25. losing your #5 starter obviously hurts this late in the season but he'll be easily replaced with comparable performance in the rotation
