Even before the cubs won last night, the White Sox owned the title of worst pre-expansion franchise of all time. Now we are even deeper in the whole My reasoning is that we have appeared in fewer World Series than the cubs, and the Red Sox are better than both the Sox and cubs, because the Red Sox are usually competitive, until they meet up with the Yankees, while the Sox and cubs are historically losers (with the exception of a few decades).

as much as I hate the cubs, I am glad to hear baseball's tv ratings are way up. The Braves - cubs game 5 got a rating of 12.7. and rated a 10 in NYC, the New York Giants game got a 12. So a huge local NFL game narrowly beat a division series game with no local teams involved. Last years game 5 involving the braves only scored a six nationally, and the world series last year only got a 17 nationally. Hopefully the cubs ratings only continue for 1 more round, then the Marlins can bring in the underdog ratings in the world series. :fthecubs

Sorry dude, you've bashed gays a lot. Equating being gay with killing people seems to me like you got a problem... but don't take my word for it. here's the proof. Bmr's comments on April 30: a gay guy can have a date as long as the rest of society doesnt have to see it or hear about it. More on April 30 It is NOT okay to be gay. It sets horrible example for children and it disrupts the main reason you are on earth, which is to create. With your outlook on things, in a few short years, its going to be okay to kill. Bmr: May 1 Change is good unless it destroys lives, society, and the way of life. Being gay does all 3, no matter how much you or anyone else wants to deny it. I dont have a problem with one individual person being gay, but youre never going to get me to think or say its ok to be gay, because it is not. Uh ok lol. If Society as a whole just agrees that its okay to be gay, eventually, we will be a totally f***ed up society, and eventually cease to exist. Again, I dont have a problem with one individual being gay, but saying it is okay is destructive. Okay i guess i have to spell it out. The more gay people, the more death. The more gay people, the less birth. Is that so hard to understand? I dont hate or even dislike gay people. I simply realize that promoting that it is okay will eventually destroy society. Its not NATURAL to f*** a monkey or stick your DICK in another guys ass. If people would stop doing things that are unnatural, like f***ing a monkey, pounding some guys ass, and sticking needles in their arms, Aids would not spread as it has. Wow, it looks like you just pinned BMR in a corner with his own words. I don't think the website was disrespectful, but we should all show a little decency in what we post, just like Molto and Murcie said. That way we can avoid these kinds of problems.

Any opinions on Isreal's attack on Syria? Personally I think Isreal needs a new approach, obviously this you strike we strike plan has not helped them a bit. I don't think this wall/buffer zone that is being assembled will help either. Isreal needs to make peace, they shouldn't try to put their problems behind a wall. I am glad Syria's response was a complaint to the UN and not an attack on Isreal, obviously someone over there has some brains.

Why do you hate the Yankees so much? We should all hate the Yankees, they are the second evil empire behind the cubs.

Where ya been sox4life? it seems like you haven't been around since your spurs gave my Nets a flogging in the finals. Welcome back. I agree some good movies have come out recently, I really enjoyed Pirates of the Carribean. I also just bought the 20th anniversary edition of Scarface, that movie kicks major ass.

Dumbass If I ever do anything involving a wild animal I will have a gun at my side. If Roy has a shotgun with him he shoots the tiger in the abdomen, it is taken aback in pain, it is then shot again in the head. and nobody would be in the hospital right now.

NEW YORK (Oct. 5) - A tiger and an alligator found in a Manhattan apartment were sent to an Ohio wildlife preserve Sunday while their owner recovered from bite wounds inflicted by the more than 400-pound cat. Police said Antoine Yates, 31, would face reckless endangerment charges after he gets out of a hospital in Philadelphia, where he fled. He was listed in good condition. A team of animal control officers, police and Bronx Zoo workers removed the animals from Yates' fifth-floor apartment in a Harlem housing project on Saturday. Wes Artope, director of the city's animal shelters, said the tiger, an orange and white Siberian-Bengal mix, had been kept in the apartment since he was a 6-week-old cub. The 20-month-old tiger now weighs at least 425 pounds, Artope said. ''He's huge,'' Artope said. The tiger and the 5-foot-long alligator, both in good condition, were taken first to a local shelter, then to a Long Island animal sanctuary and then to Ohio, Artope said. ''Clearly this tiger should not have been in any place in New York City outside of a zoo,'' Mayor Michael Bloomberg told reporters Sunday. Yates was taken into custody Saturday night at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, where he was being treated for lacerations to his leg, police said. Authorities believe he went to Philadelphia after checking out of a New York hospital on Friday with bites to his arm and leg. Officers first responded to a call on Wednesday that Yates had been bitten by a dog, but police said they later received two anonymous calls saying Yates had actually been bitten by a large wild animal. Residents at his apartment building told responding officers that they had seen the tiger. Authorities used a camera to monitor the animals in the apartment before shooting them with tranquilizer darts. 10-05-03 17:24 EDT Somehow none of the neighbors alerted police earlier that a tiger and alligator were in a housing project apartment

surprised this hasn't been mentioned LAS VEGAS (Oct. 5) - Roy Horn, the illusionist of the Siegfried & Roy duo who was mauled by one of his tigers during a show, was able to communicate with doctors but still in critical condition and on a ventilator Sunday. The mauling could mean the end of one of the Las Vegas Strip's most popular shows. Its employees were encouraged to look for new jobs, and officials said that even if Horn recovers it's unclear whether he would ever be able to perform again in the rigorous show. MGM Mirage officials said Sunday that it might take another day or two before doctors have a prognosis for Horn, who was bitten in the neck and dragged off stage. The performer underwent surgery late Friday and Saturday at University Medical Center. ''There has been no change in his status, which quite frankly is good news,'' Mirage spokesman Alan Feldman said Sunday morning. ''Considering the trauma he has been through, no change in his status is a good place to be.'' Horn, 59, was heavily sedated but able to respond to voices and touch, MGM Mirage Resort chief executive Bobby Baldwin said. ''We are guarded, optimistic,'' Baldwin said late Saturday night outside the hospital. ''We are pleased the news isn't worse than it is.'' It was halfway during a Friday night performance at The Mirage hotel-casino that Horn appeared alone on stage with a 7-year-old, 600-pound white tiger named Montecore. Horn told the tiger to lie down. When it refused, Horn tapped the cat on the nose with a microphone to get its attention. The animal grabbed at Horn's arm, causing the entertainer to stumble. The tiger then lunged at Horn, who tried to beat the animal away with the microphone. Audience members said the tiger dragged Horn off the stage by the neck. The attack barely missed severing Horn's carotid artery. Horn and longtime partner Siegfried Fischbacher have been a Las Vegas Strip staple for years, performing their magic show to sold-out crowds. The shows, with their signature white tigers and lions, are among the best known and most expensive on the Strip. ''For more than four decades, I have had the great privilege of standing at the side of this remarkable man, and I will continue to do so during this very challenging time,'' Fischbacher said in a statement Saturday. Feldman said late Saturday the show was closed indefinitely. He said 267 show employees met at the Mirage hotel-casino, where hotel managers encouraged them to find new jobs. Montecore was quarantined at the hotel, officials said. Feldman said the animal had been used in the show for several years. Siegfried and Roy signed a lifetime contract with The Mirage in 2001. The German-born pair perform six shows a week, 44 weeks per year and have been onstage in Las Vegas for more than 35 years. 10-05-03 19:11 EDT

Twins are better defensively and the yankees are old...but it has become quite clear that the Yankees are the better team.

Another one of my favirote memories was at the end of the 2000 season. The Sox were playing Texas, and it was my dads birthday. My mom and I surprised my dad by having his birthday put up on the score board. Then, the Sox killed Texas, and Texas's David Shelton played all 9 positions in the game. Last year, I went to cooperstown and Shelton's jersey is enshrined there, so I took a picture of it...I wish I had the ticket stub to put next to the picture. I was also at the game in 2000 when the Sox and tigers got in the brawl. My aunt and I were just walking back to our seats when the fight broke out, it was fun to watch and even funner chanting detroit sucks. Not to mention that the Sox killed the tigers to advance their record to 12-6.

Even if sosa left the sox as a free agent, that doesn't mean he would be a cub. And I would rather sosa be on some team other than the cubs.
-
gotta disagree - one of the happiest days of my life was when we traded him away and I have never once regretted trading him away I regret it for 3 reasons: 1) we traded him to the cubs 2) Larry Himes said he would be good, and while working with the Sox Larry Himes was never wrong (see: McDowell, Fernandez, Bere, Thomas, Ventura, Cameron, Durham, traded for Alvarez, Sosa, Johnson) that is a s***load of young talent that he was right about. 3)He has put up hall of fame numbers since he left. And nobody can say that he is the reason the cubs haven't won, because his numbers have always been good, and being a jerk does not affect a team enough to cause that team to lose 100 games, as Billy Bean said in his book, team chemistry means nothing.

Once again who is to say Lee is out, how do you know we wouldn't have taught Magglio how to play center, and Lee is still in. Or how do you know sosa wouldn't play centerfield, he was certaintly capable before he started putting on weight like a sumo. How do you know we wouldn't have traded Lee for some good pitching (remember Lee didn't come out of nowhere, he was listed as one of baseball's best hitting prospects). Sure Lee and Magglio are better than sosa right now, Sosa is older now and losing his bat speed and is running out of ways to cheat, but trading sosa is just dumb . And by the way, my argument is the same now as it was when it started so how can you say it is sinking? You may not agree with my opinion, but you can not say it is sinking when it is exactly the same as it was before.

Brian Virgil was our punter around 1980 or so and he was the only UM player that would never have been welcome in my home - he single handedly lost us the OSU game his senior year - but this year's punting team make Virfil look good - all of them - wtf is wrong with them both games we lost are squarely their fault - and they may cost us more games before they are through What the hell are they doing in that formation? Its like all the linemen are supposed to run down field and cover the punt returner right away, leaving those 3 guys placed in front of the kicker as the only line of defense. It is the stupidest thing I have ever seen. Our recievers had a small case of the dropsies yesterday, and that's combined with John Navarres terrible case of the 'bad ball' he had 1 strong accurate pass all day and that was Edward td. Everything else required the recievers to make circus catches. Massaquoi also had a bad game, he has to catch that pass at the end of the first half. If he catches that we might have gone into the locker rooms with a 10 point lead instead of a 3 point lead. Lloyd Carr has to learn how to give a half time speech, right out of the locker rooms we have an extremely quick 3 and out. Carr is not looking to good this year as a coach, we look undisciplined on the field, we don't look motivated on defense, and we can't get control of our special teams. I would really like to see Gutierrez next week, but I can't imagine Carr benching Navarre, they have come to far to give up this early in the season. Though my dad thinks that Navarre must have pictures of Carr with other women, or else Navarre would be seated on the bench . I am already hoping for next year when it is Gutierrez and Underwood, rather than this lackluster lackadazical Navarre Perry combination. Perry has shown us he can pound weak defenses, but he is only good for a big play or two against big ten defenses. And yesterday he had his biggest play called back. Hopefully Underwood is quicker and can get around the tackles faster than Perry. This is the worst Michigan team that I can remember. I thought this would be the next 1997, but so far we are worse than 2001, and any other season I can remember since the lean years of Collins, Dreisbach, and pre1997-Griese.

I don't think sosa is a god anymore like the media plays him out to be, he was good for 3 seasons a baseball god for 1 season in my book. :fthecubs
