Pete Rose is an asshole, he doesn't get sugar coatedbut people still love him, including myself, and would come out in droves to see him inducted. Barry Bonds is an asshole the media hates him with a passion, and his potential steroid abuse gets 1,000 times more publicity, and he gets booed wherever he goes...still, he fills seats.

And how many rings does Sammy have? As I stated earlier, the cubs have not won because their front office is full of idiots. Lets look at a few examples: 1) decided that Frank Castillo was a better value than Greg Maddux. 2) thought they could win with only sosa and henry rodriguez at the heart of their order 3) until now have never pursued stud starting pitching But it is impossible to debate that filling seats does not bring in money, because it does, and it is impossible to say that buying players is one way to win a world series (just take a look at the yankees, they have bought 4 in 7 years)

Don't think for a minute that Magglio would not exist if we had Sosa. Magglio has the athletic ability to play left field and if Sosa were are right fielder, Magglio would have come up in left field in 1997. Good players work there way onto major league rosters, and magglio is a good player and would still be on the team. Hell maybe he would even play center. It is impossible to say that you don't want anymore home runs, its like saying I don't want a nicer car, or I don't want more money. More is better, period, and I am a baseball purist, I would trade Lee, Magglio, Crede anybody for good pitching, but I know that you can not have too many home runs. Lets face it if you were asked if you could take back the 1992 trade, you would take it back. And if you don't you shouldn't be a white sox fan because it gave our biggest rival, both on the field and in the war for fans a hall of famer.

thats because the front office is full of idiots.

ok look at it this way... Attention brings fans, fans bring money, money brings players, players bring rings...there you have it, the easiest way to win in major league baseball

Reasons to want Sosa on your team: Despite all the bull s*** you mentioned and the numerous dumbass things you failed to mention (fake charity, Rick Reiley incident) nobody outside of the White Sox nation seems to notice or care. He fills seats like a circus Whether he cheats or not he still hits home runs. he is at the point in his career where he wants a ring. I hate Sosa, I hate the cubs more than I hate sosa, but living in Chicago for 14 years will do that to you. Despite my hatred for Sosa, if he was on the Sox I would love him. Anybody that would redo the Sosa-bell trade needs to rethink their opinion.

offense is so, so. 20 pts. But had first and goal and had to settle for a field goal. Defense is not looking to good. Hopefully they pull it together in the second half...GO BLUE
-
Yeah. That guy we've had to settle for in RF the past 5 or 6 season really blows. :fyou STFU Lyons..... you tool I know I would pass on a guy that became popular nation wide and would have brought the White Sox nation wide attention.

I completely disagree with what you are saying. I hate Sosa now, but I wish we hadn't traded him to the cubs and I wish more that he was still on the White Sox. You are not thinking and need to have an IQ test if you agree with the trade we made. Bell had a nice season in 92 but did jack s*** in 93 so he was worthless. Sosa, meanwhile has put up great numbers (if he was on the sox I wouldn't care how many steroids he was on ) and fills seats. The White Sox were very popular before the strike, and we could have a bigger share of Chicago right now if we had kept sosa. Frank and Sosa on the same team would be huge.

I have been looking for a list of players who will be free agents this winter...so far I haven't found anything except a list of the best at every position, I know the stars that will be free agents, but I want to know everybody who will be a free agent. Can anybody hook me up with a link or tell me a good site to find what I am looking for?

The Braves can hit this guy. I have a friend who is a die hard Braves fan, and he says the Braves can get around on Prior, but he also says that Sheff has been trying too hard, and is popping the ball up a lot. Sheffs swing is fast enough that if he gets in a groove, its bye bye cubbies pitching.

does this board have enough people old enough for woodstock to enable this thread to take off? I know there are a few baby boomers here, but will it be enough? By the way woodstock '99, does not count as woodstock, nor does woodstock 94, or anyother failed reenactment.

I always take postseason experience. In addition to that Maddux is familiar with the beer garden.

Gary Redus lmao, I know I would pay money for his jersey at least he stole a lot of bases.

FITZGERALD, Ga. (Oct. 2) - An Army sergeant on leave from South Korea claimed the $150 million jackpot in the multi-state Mega Millions lottery. Army Staff Sgt. Tirrell Moore, next to wife Danielle, discusses his winnings. Stephen Moore, 30, had been visiting family during his 30-day leave when he bought the winning ticket at a convenience store. He said he was out with his brother Tuesday night, and when he returned he found his wife, Danielle, waiting for him. ''She came out the door, and I thought I was in trouble,'' Moore said. ''She said, 'Guess what, we won the lottery!''' Moore, who works as a chemical specialist, chose the cash option for his winnings and was awarded $88.9 million before taxes on Wednesday. ''I told my mom to go ahead and quit work,'' Moore told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He said he also plans to build a new home for his wife and two daughters. His mother, Annette Moore Crawford, said she'll keep her job as a clerk at a hardware distribution center, but she said she wouldn't mind having a Mercedes-Benz if her son wants to buy one for her. She also wants one more thing - her son home. ''(President) Bush needs to call my house and tell me my baby don't have to go back to Korea, that he can stay home,'' Crawford, 47, told the newspaper. Moore has been stationed in South Korea for nine months. Fitzgerald is about 180 miles south of Atlanta. He deserves it

This should be green right? He makes Harry's last couple of years look vintage. Lord, Harry was pretty bad toward the end there, suddenly infield flies were being called gappers.

I am catholic and I believe so, but to be sainted a certain number of miracles have to be attributed to your name. For example somebody on their deathbed will have to pray to the Pope, and then if he gets better the pope gets a miracle to his name.

I think it is McNabbs history and versatility that keeps him out there. If this was Quincy Carter, forget about it, he would be benched. But McNabb has played very well the last 3 years and deserves a million chances. Not too mention his versatility makes him a big play threat even when he is playing poorly, not many guys can say that. Its the millions of dollars they have invested too him. Well 100 million or so to be exact (Although that ain't all guaranteed). good point.
