No problem with the slow response, I just wanted to make sure that the thread wouldn't die before you got a chance to see it. Sounds like you had a good time at the big house, then again I think it would be impossible not too. As far as the game strategy goes, I think we should have used Massaquoi a little more than we did. I think we threw to him 3 times, 2 catches and 1 drop, that is all that I can remember about Massaquoi's game. Based on the few times he has been thrown too this year he looks pretty good. Not as "sure handed" as Joppuru, but more athletic. Dropping balls has been the theme this year for Edwards, I enjoy watching him play so much, he is fast and is a big play waiting to happen, but if he keeps dropping balls, I have no problem with Avant and Breaston stepping up, they seem to be just as fast as Edwards (even faster in Breaston's case). Tabb also has impressed me in his limited PT, and Bell and Butler are consistent veterans. I was also glad to see Gonzalez get a few plays, one would have been a huge play except Gonzalez dropped the ball. In the backfield, I am on the David Underwood bandwagon, I think he can run wide better than Perry, but I think Perry can take over a game if the line isn't stacked against him, and if he can hold on to the damn ball. This game against Iowa will set the tone for the rest of the way IMO. Go Blue!

As much as I like magglio I think that if we are going to retool, Magglio should be traded. San Fransisco would be perfect for Magglio, The Giants have an old CF (Grissom) and Jose Cruz Jr. is a CF by nature, so they could move him over and put Magglio in Right. Then we could get a nice package from SF, hopefully a package that would include Jerome Williams. But, if we are not going to retool, then we should keep Magglio and trade Koch, just to get him off of the team.

Speed is overrated, especially in a first baseman. A power guy shouldn't be hitting infield grounders anyways, thats not his purpose on the club. David Ortiz is a hell of a ballplayer and proved that with Boston this year. He is a good obp% guy and I would love to see a guy with his tenacity on the Sox, the only problem is he will probably be playing with the Red Sox next year. Brad Fullmer would be kind of a pointless addition, you could get an up and coming guy that would put up equivlant numbers at a cheaper price, so I agree with your Hell No to him I guess. Speed won't win ball games, getting on base will, so we should focus on getting some solid line drive hitters this offseason, and not worry about trying to find speedsters.

Things that were never promised under the New Deal are now "expected" to be paid for, i.e. prescription drugs, college tuition, etc. It created the "Lazy American." I'll give you that it maybe was good on it's face , but it's snowballed into a huge mistake. Mr. Republican, and YAFer? , I must totally disagree with your assessment of the New Deal, totally and categoricaly I am wondering if you are poor and a true beliver or some from money who disagrees with the New deal. I ask not to fight and have conflict, but to get a fuller picture. I am white collar but working class, from working class, in two professsons (clergy and law) with a masters degree and much expeirnece in social work. Just to share my demographic picture as I ask for your. Was raised by generations of republicans. You proclaim yourself a Republican - I am a democrat, Again, not to conflict - we all speak out of our experience and I have shared mine, am wondering as to yours to further know and repect one another. Then after that look at Americas financial situation cerca 1933, then write us up a plan on how America can deal with that financial situation. Any plan to bail a country out is going to call for some 'outside of the box' thinking. Though you may disagree with how FDR did it, the fact is he did it, and though you may not like our current state here in America, we still are the greatest nation in the world.

I believe WWII, and rain pulled us out of the depression. The new deal brought many programs to this nation that I think made it a better place and helped modernize many parts of the country, but it could and did only go so far. The war really got the industry booming again, and rain brought crops back to our nations heartland.
