Seems to me like MB did the right thing. He risked getting tossed by doing it. I don't think he deserved to be ejected, but he did the right thing and backed up his mates.

Surgery to remove the dog's vocal cords? That's horribly cruel. What kind of twisted f*** thought of that?

QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:50 AM) The Trib gave Farmer and Rooney credit and then stated something about how the cub broadcasters could be so low (they used the term surprising or shcoking or something like that). They (Trib and cub fans) really are full of themselves go to Around the Horn to get the rest of my cub rant. I agree. And of course the Trib is going to question this. They own the Cubs; they own WGN. They pay Hughes and Santo.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) Should we call you Neil now? I basically agree with what you said. But I can see the other side of the argument as well. If the American Flag transcends all other symbols as a representation of America then burning it is equivalent to saying "death to America". The action in & of itself is not an act of treason but if it were to inspire acts of civil unrest or disobedience then it can be. With respect to treason if there exists a more substanitive cause other than flag burning then the courts should recognize the act of flag burning as admissable evidence supporting that cause. In short, whether flag burnig is considered a harmless act or indicative of treason should be decided on a case by case basis. Treason? That's a very large stretch. Are you saying that if person "A" burns a flag, and person "B" starts rioting, then person "A" has committed treason? It seems to me that you'd be holding person "A" responsible for the actions of person "B", over whom he has no control. That doesn't seem like justice.

Nice article. The best reason NOT to burn the flag is because we have the right to!
-
Well, we needed a bat before, and this just cinches it. I hope KW can pull off a good deal.

I think injuries were the story of 2000, and the relative lack of pitching and defense. I feel a lot better about this year's pitching and defense. However, especially with Frank's injury, I would like to see the Sox add another quality bat. But they're few and far between....

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 01:35 PM) Iron Chef is the f***ing s***! I am going to battle my sister this wekend in an in-home Iron Chef! Need a judge? I've always wanted to be a judge on that show....

The guy in the pictures looks like Chairman Kaga from Iron Chef....

For me, it's the car bomb. Other than that, I've never tried a mixed drink that contains beer.

Sounds like she could have used a little therapy. Found a pic-

If it ever gets built, are people going to call it "the big screw" or "the drill bit"?
-
1. Using "joo" in the future will hopefully avoid misunderstandings like that. 2. Let's not get too excited about beating KC again. They're in the basement. Act like we've been here before.

screw this "who do you want to win the WC" talk

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:21 AM) Bring on Oakland. Bring on WHOEVER. Sorry folks, but just winning a playoff series might cut it for some of you, but it doesn't cut it with me. I want a WS appearance, at the very least. This team might be able to do it. It might not. But I wanna know. I wanna know if this team is for real. Bring on whoever is the toughest. Bring em all on. I don't want to pussyfoot around a bad matchup. If we can't beat Oakland, we don't deserve to go the WS. If we do beat Oakland in the playoffs, that would feel pretty good. My stress level will undoubtedly be lower if we don't have to face them, though.... I don't care who we beat, just as long as we win a World Series in my lifetime. And preferably this year! -
Hmmm. Bulletin board material.
-
I think there were a couple of missed ball-strike calls, but no more than a usual series. I don't think the officials were a factor for either team.
-
All right, strap it down! Let's get another W!

QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) I mostly listen to Hawk and DJ, but when I cannot get to a TV, Farmer and Rooney do a great job as a broadcast team. I could not agree more with the point that Farmer and Rooney are a consistent stream of information. There is a ton of value added when they broadcast. Good luck down at UIUC Law! (I'm class of '00)

I'm almost as much of a newbie as you, but welcome!

QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) The Sox finish with the best record, we play the lowest record team not in our division. The odds of us facing an AL East team are slim. This is why they need to make me commissioner of baseball.
-
I would put our bullpen against anyone in baseball.
-
I've got the TiVo, so the time difference between the TV and radio is too large to use Ed & John as the audio.
-
If it were up to me, we wouldn't have to play a team from the AL West at all in the playoffs! But that's just me.
-
Here's hoping that we won't have to get out on the ledge after this game. I'm going home. Enjoy, everyone!

I'm officially over it. Let's all be friends!
