  1. Let's all tilt back a pint for A.J., whose quick thinking to force the situation resulted in a win for the Sox!!!
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) Blackjack McDowell just made a great f***ing point, one that I meant to make this afternoon. Everyone will b**** about the call tonight, but Cabrera got away with an illegal slide to break up that DP last night that gave the Angels the 3rd run. Cabrera came out of his slide and rolled into Iguchi. That's an illegal slide, and theoretically, it should have been a DP. While I agree with you 100%, that situation didn't result in a run for the Angels. That would weaken our "they got some breaks with calls, too" argument on that particular instance. Glad we won, just pointing that out.
  3. It wasn't as black and white as the announcers were making it seem. There is definitely room for interpretation in the replay as to whether the ball hit the ground or not. It was definitely a close call. My instincts tell me that we caught a huge break. Now, if Joey Cora doesn't send Aaron home for the first out in the inning, I believe the score becomes 2-0 and we have a different flavor of game entirely. All in all, we'll take it.
  4. Let's get it started off on the right foot! Take Game 1, ChiSox!
  5. I hate to say it, but the way Marte looked last night, I would have no problem leaving him off the ALCS roster and letting McCarthy on. Otherwise, let's not fix what's not broken. EDIT: How about that repost I just made? Sorry. [blush]
  6. What a performance by El Duque! There was a whole lot of joy at Monk's Pub yesterday. That was a great game, and it sure is sweet to sweep the Red Cubs.
  7. I saw that, too. I thought to myself, "Hmmm. Who's the better team? The team that had 99 wins? The team that won all three ALDS games?" Let's face it, Tim, if the Red Sox were truly the better team, don't you think that they would have managed to win even one of the games against the White Sox? Wakefield, STFU. Go home and cry in your chowdah.
  8. Well, that settles it. My boss is already gone for the weekend. I'm gonna go over to Monk's Pub and watch the rest of this game. Let's make it a White Sox winner!
  9. I didn't think we'd get out of there so easily. So now we come back and pile on some more. At least those were solo shots.
  10. Ground out. No harm done. (Jeez. This is how far behind MLB.com is....)
  11. Too many walks, Freddy. Find the strike zone!
  12. MLB.com is too frickin' slow. They're stuck on "In play-outs recorded"
  13. At risk of sounding like Tim McCarver, it's bad to walk the leadoff guy.
  14. This is like the beginning of the Tenacious D CD. "So far, off to a bad start."
  15. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 01:34 AM) Why don't voices from God ever tell their recepients to do something completely outrageous--like taking a s*** ontop a table? /obscure? Wasn't that George Carlin? "Why doesn't God tell people to do things like take a s*** on the salad bar at Wendy's?"
  16. Let's go White Sox! Get the job done before the rain comes!
  17. I got shut out for game 1. I asked for 4 tickets. Maybe that was a mistake. I don't see myself getting more luck with any subsequent attempts.
  18. Awesome! Can they do it again in Boston on Friday? Tune in and see! I predict another close one.
  19. Even my fiancee was talking about the treatment the ESPN booth was giving the Red Sox. After Ramirez lined out to Rowand, the booth was gushing about what a good swing he put on the ball. My fiancee said, "Jeez, want to slurp him a little more, guys?" Sports knowledge and appreciation. Two of the several reasons I'm marrying her!
  20. That win felt fantastic!!! Graffanino-wned, then Tadahito-wned! As Hawk would say, they're in the catbird seat now.
  21. QUOTE(mreye @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) 10 - 4! 14 - 2!
  22. Drink more. That oughta do it.
