  1. QUOTE(sin city sox fan @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) I think after that home run though he should have a lot of potential for endorsement income in Chicago. If he goes to NY or LA, that probably doesn't exist to the same extent. Not exactly a hometown discount.....but it could be an advantage. Well, that and the fact that he'd pretty much be the King of Chicago along with Ozzie, Joe, and the pitching staff. Maybe that would carry some weight....
  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) Is this the thread where I talk about how awesome it was to be at both games this weekend? Get this man some hot cocoa, stat!
  3. I wonder if we're going to be eligible for a "hometown discount." Because I don't know if we're going to match some of the offers that are sure to come out of NYY, LAA, etc...
  4. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 09:22 AM) he looked out to me. Too bad it wasn't an Astros runner or we would have seen 73 replays, from 9 angles, and super slo mo close ups. I had the benefit of TiVo last night. I replayed it over and over again. If you do the frame-by-frame replay, Iguchi's hand is back on the bag before the tag touches him on the elbow. So I maintain that he was safe. I agree 100% that there would have been replays ad nauseam if that was a Houston runner.
  5. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) iguchi wasn't safe. Yes he was.
  6. I think Bobby probably was a little tired after going 1 1/3 innings the night before. That was my main worry about bringing him in last night. He absolutely needs to show the curve ball more. If all you throw is straight heat, Major League hitters will solve you.
  7. I usually like Greenberg and Golic on ESPN 1000 in the morning, but I just couldn't stand the way Greenie was harping on the Jermaine Dye HBP call. To hear him say it, that one call was the reason the Sox won the game. I've had enough of it. We're in a position to call him on it. Let's nominate Greenie for his own "Just Shut Up" award on ESPN 1000 tomorrow morning. Here's where to go: http://espnradio.espn.go.com/espnradio/story?page=justshutup Here's the e-mail I sent today: Greenie, this one's for you. To listen to you this (Monday 10-24) morning, you'd think that the Jermaine Dye HBP call cost Houston the game. That's the home plate umpire's call. The first-base and third-base umpires are 90-100 feet away; they won't have any better view of it despite what you seem to think. But the national media, and you especially, are so focused on the purported "bad calls" that the White Sox are receiving that you are missing the story! You don't hear the White Sox or their fans complaining that Pettitte balked when he picked Iguchi off of first, or that Iguchi was, in fact, safe. You don't hear the White Sox or their fans complaining that the three "hit by pitch" calls in Game 1 were dubious at best (including the one on Bagwell where he made absolutely no effort to avoid the pitch). No, you don't hear that. The story is that the better team is winning all these postseason games! Greenie, quit complaining about the calls. Stop trying to make it sound like the Sox are only winning because the umps are blowing calls. Mike Greenberg, JUST SHUT UP!!! If that doesn't work, try sending an e-mail at http://espnradio.espn.go.com/espnradio/story?storyId=1113601
  8. The Rowand/Anderson reaction shots are fantastic. I'm stunned. I can't get this grin off of my face....
  9. Fox pregame says the game will start on time. I hope the weather holds. Let's get another White Sox Winner!!!
  10. I can't believe that this is happening! The Sox are in the World Series, starting tonight! I've got the beer and snacks stockpiled.
  11. QUOTE(Allsox @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 12:25 PM) Even if they did a lottery, people would complain about that as well.... But they would realistically not have as much to complain about. A lottery would be the fairest way to do this.
  12. This is complete garbage. I didn't even get to request any tickets. I just got hung up at a blank screen. Oh well. I didn't expect to get any.
  13. DEVIL CAT!!! DEVIL CAT!!!
  14. Hey, you guys are right. I have heard this song before. Just like a record, it spins around and around, and when you reach the groove in the center, you never go anywhere.
  15. I hope that the story is not true. That picture was just hearbreaking.
  16. You know who we absolutely need to throw some more money at? Don Cooper. We need to keep the Yankees' grubby mitts off of him. Pay him whatever he wants. He's under contract through 2006, but we can't afford to lose him. He's working wonders with our pitching staff!
  17. The Angels are a classy team, and they are showing it in the way they're carrying themselves. You might hear the media pointing at the umps, but you won't see Scoscia or his players doing it.
  18. You won't see me spending over a grand on tickets. If that means I have to watch from a sports bar, then so be it. I have a wedding to pay for!
  19. My dad grew up on the South Side, and I was therefore raised as a Sox fan. Ever since I've been able to afford it, he and I have an annual tradition of going to a Sox game on Fathers' Day (or as close to it as possible). This year was very special. We went on Fathers' Day, the Sunday game versus the Dodgers. We sat down along the left field line, three rows from the field. Pods caught the final out right in front of us (almost in our laps). There's just something special about our Sox this year. I'm glad my dad and I can share it!
  20. He's gonna give me a heart attack, but that's a White Sox Winner!!!
  21. Balance

    oh my god

    During the early part of the game, I didn't even let myself consider the fact that if the Sox won this game, it would mean they're going to the World Series. I just didn't want to let myself get my hopes up. Then they score first. They fall behind, but tie the game against the vaunted Angel bullpen. Then they take the lead late. The White Sox are going to the World Series!!! I don't know what to do with myself!!!
  22. This doesn't seem real. Is this real? The White Sox are the 2005 AL Champs!!!
  23. Let's leave no doubt about this game. No controversy, just a good, solid White Sox Winner!
  24. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 10:36 PM) Um...yes it did. I was thinking about a different play tonight. NM. My mistake.
