  1. I will have a few tickets for sale for some of the weekend games this upcoming season. I'll probably have an idea of which games closer to the time I actually receive the tickets. Keep an eye on the "Swap Meet" section of this board, too.
  2. As Stephen Colbert said at the end of "The Colbert Report," No matter what religion you are.... ...Merry Christmas! I laughed out loud at that. Happy holidays, everyone!
  3. This is a good thread idea, so long as each side respects the other and doesn't go around crapping in the other side's thread....
  4. Hmmmmm..... How about "Double Team" or "f*** Her Gently" by Tenacious D?
  5. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) Can anyone tell me what playoff system is employed on your fantasy football league? I have a malcontent on my league who is going crazy because I had an 8 team playoff with no 1st week bye. He was the number one seed and lost to the 8 seed, and the guy is blowing a gasket calling the league unprofessional and such because it doesnt mimic the NFL close enough. Now keep in mind that this is a league that I paid for(60 bucks) and there is no entry fee, so there is no pot. Yet, we had a little mini-bet in the league through the year on rookie contributions, and the same guy won the only monetary award that my league had to offer, which was best buy certificates that i paid for. And I still get complaints. We have a 12-team league where 6 teams make the playoffs. (3 "division" winners and 3 wild cards.) Would I structure my league's playoffs the way yours did? Probably not. However, if the rules for playoff seedings were announced at the beginning of the year, and all teams abided by them, then he has no grounds to complain.
  6. Technically, the bet could be interpreted as the loser having to put "nitetrain8601 is my god" in his sig, even if the loser is nitetrain. Sorry, it's the contentious litigator in me.... :
  7. That game was a f***ing disgrace. The Bulls are not good enough to take the night off, but that's what they did. No defense at all.
  8. Looks like she won't have to worry about paying for college. Full ride, here she comes....
  9. Marvin Harrison owners- Keep an eye on him. He's supposed to have a broken bone in his hand. But all of his yards Sunday are supposed to have been gained after the break happened.
  10. Does anyone know when the Sox are going to release the 2006 promotions schedule? I want to know when Elvis Night, Rat Pack Night, and Dog Day are. I can't find it on Whitesox.com, but I may have missed it....
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) Timing is a b**** sometimes...now I'm a freaking bandwagon fan who looks like they bought tix because they won the WS, when in reality I was planning on buying them this year regardless because it's the first year i can realistically afford to. I feel the same way. But I've got my 27-game weekend plan, and it feels good to have it.
  12. A-J! A-J! A-J! A-J! And, just because I think he's doing an absolutely great job.... Ken-ny! Ken-ny! Ken-ny! Ken-ny!
  13. My fantasy football team is now in my league's "Super Bowl!"
  14. Hey, I know we've debated a lot of the issues that Conyers raises until we're blue in our proverbial faces. But I don't think you can simply dismiss the accusations he makes by calling him a wacko. If you think he's lying, why not show some evidence that he's lying? I think there's enough evidence in the public record to, at the very least, support an investigation into the conduct of which he's accusing the Bush administration. And Cknolls, why is it that whenever there's a serious allegation leveled against a prominent Republican, the best many Republicans can do is to try and change the subject to Clinton?
  15. Southside and Nuke- lots of name-calling, not a lot of substance.
  16. There's a lot of sentiment that the Sox should trade Garland because we are getting the perception that Garland will not stay with the Sox after the coming season. With the depth the Sox currently have in starting pitching, it makes sense to try and move him and get something in return as opposed to letting him go and getting nothing back.
  17. If you want to win, you can't keep things the same just for the sake of keeping them the same. Players age, players reach free agency, players get injured, and so on- the only constant is change. And while we'll miss the players who left; we still want to root for a winner. I think Kenny has made sensible, forward-thinking moves that will strengthen the Sox for years to come.
  18. No question. You sit McGahee of those three.
  19. This isn't really news. Perhaps I'm too cynical, but I'm pretty sure the president knew the source of the leak before, or at least just as soon as, the leak happened.
  20. I think Kenny is taking the right approach. I wouldn't call him a mad man, but he is being proactive. I like the way he's thinking.
  21. No offense, juevos, but the trade you suggested would have been a really lousy trade.
  22. Seems to me that Kenny is getting the impression that the Sox won't be able to keep Garland next year. That's why he made the Vazquez deal. So now, the Sox have a surplus of in-demand starting pitchers. They're not going to use a 6-man rotation. I don't think McCarthy will be used as a long reliever. So, someone's going to get moved. It makes the most sense to trade a guy like Garland if the belief is that he'll be too expensive for the Sox to keep after next season is over. May as well get something of value for him. Despite being at the end of his contract, Garland probably has very high trade value. After all, the team receiving him would be getting a pitcher who just had a fabulous season and is pitching for a new contract. It doesn't make sense to trade McCarthy; it worsens the problem caused by Garland's (assumed) free agent departure. I think that's what the Sox are driving at. If they do trade for Tejada, I would much rather see them trade away Jon than McCarthy. Why wouldn't the Sox want to get a player of Tejada's caliber if they decide to move Garland? The team's financial situation is probably as good as it has ever been; they can afford to spend what Tejada is making. Anyway, this is all my own musing, not supported by anything other than speculation, so take it for what it's worth.
  23. I don't think that there's any way that KW is done yet. There will be another big move. Kenny is basically saying to Jon- Are you in for the long haul or are you out? And if Jon says "out," KW will move him. I trust Kenny and Ozzie to get players who will keep with the philosophy that brought the Sox the championship last year. (And damn, it feels good to say that.)
