  1. Brian's defense in CF is pretty damn fantastic. I'm willing to let him struggle at the plate so long as he's getting the job done with his glove. And to this point, that's what he's doing. It's to the point where if BA is out there in CF, I expect any ball hit in his area code to be caught. I definitely can't say that about any other outfielder on our team.
  2. I hope he can turn the Royals around. What good is having a doormat team in the AL Central if they play the Sox tougher than any other team?
  3. I thought that sounded familiar....
  4. QUOTE(That funky motion @ May 28, 2006 -> 03:59 PM) 2.5. Apparently I was a day early on that. Oops. It's 1.5 now.
  5. I look at it this way. The Sox aren't playing anywhere near as well as last year, yet they still have the second best record in baseball and (assuming Cleveland holds on today) are only 1.5 games back. If the Sox start to click better, look out.
  6. As far as I'm concerned, the Tigers are for real until proven otherwise. All last year, people were saying the same things about us that a lot of posters here are saying about the Tigers now. That said, I'm really looking forward to playing them head-to-head again. I think that's going to answer a lot of questions.
  7. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 26, 2006 -> 11:03 AM) Ah, I'd much rather be shot dead by a plain ol' nut-job. :rolly j/k. I was hoping it was somebody's car backfiring, but 4 ambu, ances on teh scene doesn't make it sound that way. The man has a point. I didn't mean to be that dismissive. I was just saying that this isn't something to treat as a terrorist attack.
  8. I just wanted to get in on the first page! Also, there's no game tonight, so I don't know what I'm going to be doing.
  9. These Royals might prove to be the exception to Hawk's rule that no matter what you do, you're going to win 60 and lose 60..... Of course, it's very telling that we've dropped a couple of games to them. The Sox need to show no mercy and put the Royals away for the rest of the season.
  10. I bought a #30 Magglio Ordonez jersey in 2000. Now, it's an expensive closet decoration. I'm considering buying an old classic jersey, maybe one of the 1906 or 1917 versions, and not putting a name on it. At least then the player would never be traded or leave via FA....
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 25, 2006 -> 12:09 PM) I've noticed it still works, if you just write the word green or red. Just select a color, and replace the color code with the word of the color. For example. Thanks. I'll try it. Um..... Dusty Baker is a great manager. Hey, it works! Thanks!
  12. I have some red-green colorblindness. So the new format for coloring text makes it pretty hard for me. If I want to make something green, I can't really see which color is red and which is green in the little box. Any way we could re-implement the color coding with the words for colors instead of the number codes? Or at least have a label? Thanks.
  13. You can put 'em in the jail.... YES!!!
  14. Great to sweep the A's, who have had our number for a while....

    1. Record game with TiVo. 2. Wait about 30-40 minutes while watching something else. "Pardon the Interruption" and "Robot Chicken" do nicely. 3. Watch the recorded Sox game from the beginning. Fast forward through all commercials. 4. By the time you catch up with "real time," the game is about over, and you didn't have to watch any commercials for Red Roof Inn or Miller Lite.
  16. Yo hablo Pablo! That game was a great win. Kudos to Mack, AJ, and Pablo. Don't forget Bobby Jenks coming through in the clutch. And what's a ballgame without a rodent delay?
  17. From what I've heard Hawk and DJ say about Garland, much of his success last year came from his ability to pitch inside. Lately, I haven't seen him try to get people out inside. I wonder if Cooper agrees with Hawk and DJ.
  18. I think we need to send some cameramen up to Detroit to invade Kenny Rogers' personal space.
  19. Exactly. Zambrano practically does the Macarena after striking someone out, but he can't take someone celebrating after homering off of him? Hypocrite.
  20. I just don't think Juan has done very much to protect his job this season. I don't think you can say he's played well enough to keep Cintron from getting some more consistent ABs.
  21. Ozzie said the right thing there.
  22. I read the column today, and I find it rather amazing how Mariotti was able to reach the conclusions he did. It's almost as if he wasn't watching the same game we all were....
  23. I hate to pile on, but it's getting to the point where we can't look past how bad Uribe has been at the plate. I was at the game today, and from right center field, I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on his 8th inning misplay. However, when I saw the play on TV, it's clear that he had plenty of time to make a good throw to first base. If Juan makes that play, the Sox still have a 2 run lead in the 9th. And I'll take my chances with that situation every time. I'd love to see some more Cintron and even Ozuna at short; Juan is not getting it done with the bat or the glove. Maybe a little pine time will help him get it together.
  24. If AJ gets even a fine, much less a suspension, it would be a horrible injustice. He didn't do anything wrong. Well, unless you count the vicious head-butt he gave to Barrett's fist.
