  1. More than any other coach, we need to make sure that Cooper stays with the Sox. Our pitching has been the most important part of our recent success.
  2. I trust that Ozzie won't tolerate these guys letting down for the Cubs series. And, of course, for the small matter of the games that remain this week. The D-Rays won't be a cakewalk.
  3. Way to salvage the split! We didn't want the Twinkies to think they had a chance in the AL Central this year.
  4. Go get 'em , Sox! Don't let the Twinks think they have a chance this season!
  5. Details? Before I risk clicking on a link like that, I wanna know something about it....
  6. As the weather improves, even the weekday crowds at USCF will get larger and larger. It's just a lot of fun to see the Sox play!
  7. Indeed. This club has what it takes, and KW will get us the pieces we need.
  8. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 8, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) We're holding up ok without JD at the moment, so the Sox should give him as much time as possible to make sure that he's definitely 100% recovered from his injury. ^^^^^^^^^^^^ What he said.
  9. I always thought it sounded like some of the music from Gladiator. Whatever it is, I like it. (And now it's stuck in my head.)
  10. More on Ortiz being on the ballot at 1B- Hafner is listed for the Indians on the ballot as well. Hafner's a DH, too. On the one hand, I want to write in Thome. But on the other hand, I don't want to take away votes from Paulie. Where do you think we ought to focus our votes for Big Jim? Of course, with the season he's having, and with Ozzie managing the AL squad, Thome will make the team even though he's not listed on the ballot.
  11. Crede certainly deserves to be in the running. Even though in theory it's a defensive award, in practice a player's offense gets factored in. Crede's offense is getting better all the time. He'll never put up A-Rod numbers, but that shouldn't matter. He throws some leather over there, and in my opinion, this is the year he should win the Gold Glove.
  12. QUOTE(rventura23 @ May 6, 2006 -> 11:22 PM) I do not like the new helmets Those look like they are from the prop department of "Back to the Future III"
  13. I had a great view from section 102. Crede hit it and I thought to myself, "hit well, but not well enough." I thought for sure the center fielder would have an easy play on it. But then, he jumped up against the wall. A split second later, I saw the ball bounce on the warning track (6-8 feet from the wall) and bounce into the stands. It was a huge surprise to me that the fireworks went off. Ground-rule double was the right call.

    WOW

It was a beautiful day for a ball game! (And I was well-sunscreened this time; I needed it.)
  15. Glad for the win, but I'm surprised that we're not seeing any "what's wrong with the bullpen?" panic threads.
  16. I keep track of how many miles my RSX gets per each fill-up. Depending on how much city or highway driving I do, I get around 26-29 miles per gallon overall. The only way gas prices are going to come down is if the global demand for oil goes down. I honestly don't mind that gas prices are going up because it's creating an incentive for people to drive less, buy more efficient cars, and concentrate on conserving more energy. If you really want to see change, make gas $8 per gallon. Let's pay what the Europeans pay for gas, then we'll start conserving. Until then, there's no incentive for us to truly change.
  17. The woman herself said that it was too dark in the room for her to see that the man in the room wasn't her boyfriend. How, then, is he supposed to see that the woman wasn't his girlfriend? His subjective intent was to have sex with his own girlfriend. The woman he wound up having sex with didn't object until afterward. I believe that if he had realized he was in the wrong room, he wouldn't have initiated sex. If I were on that jury, I would have a hard time voting to convict him.
  18. http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-bride21.html Apparently, a 45-year-old Oklahoma man placed a sign outside his house stating that he'll pay $1,000 for a virgin bride of between 12 and 24 years of age. And he's wondering why he's catching flak from his neighbors.
  19. A hidden gem for watching sports in Vegas is the Monte Carlo sports book. It's not too large, but not too small, either. Very, very good wait staff, you never have to wait very long for a drink. And you can place a small wager or two and drink for free (make sure you tip at least a buck a drink, though). As far as eating is concerned, if you're looking to stretch your dollars, eat at any of the buffets. All you can eat, get yourself stuffed and not be hungry for several hours for about $15 or less, depending on where you go. I want to go to Vegas now!
  20. Even though this misfortune befell the Cubs, I feel pretty lousy for Derrek Lee. He's certainly one of the "good guys" in the game, and I hate to see anyone get injured like that.
  21. Thome's on-base and run-scored streaks continue!
  22. That's what the doctor ordered. El Sweepo! Now, bring on the Twinks!
  23. I'll have to try and follow this one from the office today. GameCast or GameDay or whatever they're calling it these days. The Sox have to beat up on the lowly Royals.
  24. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:51 PM) Craig Monroe singles on a line drive to center fielder Brian Anderson. Carlos Guillen scores. Craig Monroe out at 2nd, center fielder Brian Anderson to catcher A. J. Pierzynski to second baseman Tadahito Iguchi to shortstop Alex Cintron to second baseman Tadahito Iguchi. Were they playing hot Potato or what? Just your standard 8-2-4-6-4 putout.
