Sox get Mike MacDougal for Tyler Lumsden and Daniel Cortes
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) If MacDougal stays heatlhy I got no problem cause I've always liked his arm, but I want to know what exactly his arm troubles are and you got to hope/think the org thinks its past em. Good point. I'm just a little too excited! My enthusiasm is contingent on MacDougal being and staying healthy.

White Sox close to acquiring Soriano
QUOTE(soxpride77 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) Why flip Soriano? If we can sign him, why flip him? We are going to draw more fans than ever this season, why wouldn't we sign him. Soriano is one of those players that are coveted. While his defense isn't great, everything else about him is. I'd see Soriano as an upgrade over Pods. Still a defensive liability, but a definite offensive upgrade.

Possible trade for Carlos Lee?
Lee? I don't see that happening. Remember how he was moved out of here because he didn't fit the "Ozzie Ball" mold? He's not the kind of guy who will slide hard into second base to break up a double play....

Sox get Mike MacDougal for Tyler Lumsden and Daniel Cortes
I like the MacDougal deal. Our pen is now, all of a sudden, full of flamethrowers who are locked up for the long term. I don't miss prospects who haven't proven themselves at the major league level. If we give up McCarthy for Soriano, we'd better be able to sign him after this year. We can't lose BMac for a rental.

Back In Victory Lane
Something's gotta change, right?

Slumpbusters
I'm going to try wearing my #30 Ordonez jersey to the game today. Even if it doesn't bust our slump, maybe a little bad luck will rub off on the Tigers....

Sox v. Rangers, Gamethread
Leaving for the ballpark soon. Have there been any pregame warnings or anything like that?

What Time is it....SKIN TIME WOOT
The skin looks great! Kudos!

Federal deficit appears on track to fall below $300 billion
Do the budget numbers include what we're spending in Iraq? As I recall, those expenses were conveniently kept separate from the overall budget picture. Just a little wave of the Magic Accounting Wand.

Immigration rally draws only 10000 in Chicago
I was really only aware of the march because the Heartland Cafe in Rogers Park had a sign saying that they'd be closed for the march. Notable lack of news on this one.

The 12 games will bring us back
May it be so!

Are 5.5 games surmountable?
Of course the lead is surmountable. But the White Sox need to improve their game, and dramatically, before that can happen. I don't see the Tigers falling off in any significant way.

"Seasons Over" "Sox Are Done" "First Round &a
What is it that they have to say at the end of all those investment commercials? Past performance is no guarantee of future success? Last year was last year. There are some legitimate reasons to be concerned at this point, this year. The Sox simply need to start playing better in every facet of the game, or else the doomsayers will be right. I, for one, hope that they can turn it around. I know they can. But I think we can all agree, the Sox have to increase the quality of their play.

Keepin' that Motown Mojo = Sox @ Tigers
Tonight's tilt is a tough test. Tame the Tigers!

Ponson to Yanks
How desperate are those guys?
-
Hawk and DJ
There will always be people who hate Hawk. I'm not going to agree with those people.

Garcia/Garland to the mets?
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 11:03 AM) Am I the only one who thinks it'd be silly to get rid of a starter for bullpen help that, really, we don't need? You're not the only one. That proposed deal sounds like a significant downgrade for the ChiSox.

We Play Detroit 13 Times Second Half
This is a very exciting time of the year! Filled with anticipation and.... um.... excitement!

Bill Simmons Top 40 NBA Trade Value Index
Simmons was fairly down on the Ben Wallace signing. He thinks Wallace is basically Tyson Chandler with 2 more rebounds per game. I don't agree, but Simmons usually knows what he's talking about in the NBA.

I'm finally off of the Podsednik bandwagon (long)
Seems to me that, more often than not, Scott is doing what this team needs him to be doing. I'm not saying he's the best leadoff man in the game, but I don't see him as a liability that is costing the Sox games, either.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
And thank you, Jay Payton, the A's just beat the Tigers in 10!
-
Which one worries you more?
I voted for the starters because they're just not performing up to their abilities thus far, and it's a lot easier to fix a bullpen than a starting rotation. The bullpen has been solid lately.

Gamethread 6-29-06, Sox vs. Pirates
Not pinch-hitting for Jose in that situation is simply inexcusable.
