Tell us more about Gooch's relay throw. Objectively, did he have a chance to make a good throw to first and turn it? -
GAME THREAD: Devil Rays @ Sox, 7:05pm
Balance replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in 2006 Season in Review
Despite the, (ahem), quality of this week's opponents, this remains a pretty huge week for the Sox. They can't win a playoff spot this week, but they sure as heck can damage their chances for a playoff spot by losing more than 1 or 2 games. Go Sox! -
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 28, 2006 -> 12:24 PM) I love college. I miss college. Ten year reunion coming up in May, 2007.

I was at the game also. When Crede hit into the DP with the bases loaded, I think my head exploded. I did start to feel better after he and AJ went back-to-back, though.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 10:34 PM) I have a feeling that there's a lot more people who feel sick now. There are indeed. And I am among them.

Perspective - the year after a playoff appearance is always a dissapoi

They make the postseason in consecutive seasons in NY a lot. Atlanta, too, at least for the past 15 or so years. Why not us? Why not with a team that is allegedly better than last year's team? -
This has to happen. It just has to. We have to do something differently.

I feel absolutely sick. I don't know any other way to put it.

QUOTE(ChiSoxCE2005 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) go yard... take one out of the park. I know. I just couldn't get up the hope again.

Words cannot describe how much I hate the f***ing Twins.

Glad I'm not there tonight. The beer is cheaper at home, and I can pretend it's not actually happening....

QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 09:28 AM) I have a few reasons I would line it up Dye, PK, Thome. 1. Pods and Iguchi suck against lefties. But if you hit Dye #3 and Thome #4, the opposing manager will just intentionally walk Dye at times and keep his lefty to face Thome. Putting Paulie #4 kills that idea. 2. PK is a better contact hitter behind Dye. I don't want Thome's strike outs in the #4 hole any more than I want them in the #3 hole. Plus, PK lives for that 4 hole. 3. The #5 slot is the middle of the lineup. We hit best last year when a lefty occupied that slot (Everett). 4. Thome's HR damage should come with more men on base. Having JD and PK ahead of him is going to maximize that impact. Plus, with men on base, the shift becomes less available. 5. Putting Thome #5 also puts Crede #6 and AJ #7, where they belong. That just makes too much sense not to do it. Let's just tell Ozzie....

I've been discussing doing a full-season split, too, and I would be thrilled to do it in the Club Level. Of course, I realize that no one here knows me (and vice-versa), but I think having a set of clearly-defined, written rules could make something like this work. If you're looking for another person to join a group to split some season tickets, please consider me as well.

Well, I just sent in my non-refundable playoff ticket money, so I guess I'm in. I wish I felt better about it, though.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 11:37 AM) Well, it happened. Brian is serious about trading in his Maurader he just got in February. He loves the car, but with the chance the gas prices are going to continue to rise rather than stabilize, he wants to get a 4 banger (likely either a Ford Focus or a Cougar I-4 if he can find it). I just hope he can be happy with the lack of get up and go most 4 bangers have (which is why I pretty much refuse to ever own one again - with all the highway driving I do, a 4 banger will make me lose it when I get passed, left right and sideways lol). Not all 4-cylinders are boring. You just need to get the right car. That's how I roll!

Why do they always have such trouble with the crappy teams?

QUOTE(Beltin @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:51 AM) So was last night classified as a sellout? I saw in the box score the attendance was 35,690. That sounds far from a sellout but I thought Hawk said it was. He also said tonight was sold out. I am confused. There were some significant portions of the upper deck last night that were empty. Not like in years past, but the farthest-out sections had some definite vacancies. I would be surprised if last night was considered a sellout, but who knows?

Well, at least the weather was nice. Last night's result was a huge disappointment, and makes today and tomorrow's games must-wins.

Seat Locations Available for Post-season
Balance replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 11:44 AM) I just took a look, and we have WAYYY better seats for the World Series than ALCS....... BTW, are the invoices really due the 31st? That kinda jumped up on me.... I was surprised, too. I haven't received anything in the mail yet, either. -
I've never caught one. I've scarcely ever been close. Of course, this year, my seats are hard for anyone except Thome to reach....

It's going to be a beautiful night for baseball, and I'm a-goin' to the game! Go Sox!

White Sox 1917 Throwback Jersey[2001 Edition]
Balance replied to nitetrain8601's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 03:10 PM) I want to get those White Sox sunday Jerseys they were in 2001. They were an upgrade of the 1917 ones I believe. I always liked those jerseys and wanted to get one but I didn't have a job at the time. Now I have loot, but I have no idea where to get it. Looks like this: They're available at the Cell. (Lower deck fan store, behind home plate. I think.) I was going to buy one, but they were too pricey. I think they wanted $225 for one, which is just more than I want to spend on a jersey. They are sweet, though.
