  1. Mitt is delivering a pretty hypocritical speech about Trump right now.
  2. Triple 9 was decent. Some good action and it had a few nice twists.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 11:19 AM) Yeah boxing movies seem to do well, but they also are kind of an outlier in how accomplished directors take on boxing movies. The 1 on 1 aspect and the training journey is ripe with material. It's also just a lot easier to film then a football play. Ya come to think of it Im struggling to think of many recent sports movies I liked that werent boxing (Creed/Southpaw/The fighter). I suppose Foxcatcher might qualify but as you mentioned I liked the 30 for 30 about Dupont better than Foxcatcher. I also kind of liked Million Dollar arm but I certainly wouldnt call that a popular movie.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 11:09 AM) Sports movies as a whole are a dying breed, I think likely because the 30 for 30 format is largely feeding that audience. Watching crappy movie recreations of sports moments aren't holding up to actually watching the footage with context added by those who were there. Had Rush come out 10 years earlier, probably does much better. Miracle was the last sports movie I remember anyone seeing en masse. Creed seemed to do pretty well for a sports movie.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 1, 2016 -> 09:48 PM) Rockets You can throw the Bucks in there as well. Then the Bulls.
  6. If someone who is financing a movie doesnt want to put different types of people in their movies thats their prerogative. If it offends you, grow up and dont support the movie. Im assuming all of the people condemning hollywood in this thread are equally upset when the fantastic four used Michael B Jordan as the Human Torch? I cant even imagine the outrage if they decide to cast Idris Elba as Bond.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 06:39 PM) I don't really think it would be that hard for him to make a bold statement. He did so back in 2009 and now he is just grasping at straws for whatever delusional reason he wants to share. The guy is a big fat liar. His first 10 responses when confronted with his lies are lie back or just call the other person a name. Its disgusting. Politics is disgusting and Trump is taking it to a whole nother level. Would anyone want there kids to emulate this sort of behavior? And this is supposed to be the leader of the free world? I like Ben Carson's common quote of bringing the government back to the people. The essence of what is wrong with this country (and by the way, there is still a hell of a lot right about it) is our current political system and how it works from a campaign funding perspective and the sheer bribery. Look at DC and how much money is made by the government (look at average home prices and you'd think you'd be in silicon valley not the government). Ya I totally agree about campaign funding. Also, I didnt want my post to sound like me coming off as a Trump supporter, it was more venting about how terribly I think Cruz and Rubio have handled this circus. I cant imagine how bad we look to the rest of the world right now.
  8. Im not a huge Trump fan but the David Duke stuff is beyond ridiculous. Now you have Rubio saying things like "Look how small his hands are, and you know what they say about guys with small hands..." Ted Cruz saying hes involved with the mafia. Its funny (and kind of sad) watching these guys sinking to Trumps level out of desperation. Every media outlet and good old boy republican has been attacking him nonstop for days and he just keeps climbing in the polls. It might not help him with the base republicans but some of the stuff he said in the last debate will likely help him with undecideds. He was defending planned parenthood and saying they do great things to help women, and then was getting attacked by Cruz for saying if he was President nobody would die in the streets because they couldnt afford health insurance . Cruz then accused him of "wanting free healthcare for everyone." Its just mind blowing how dumb Rubio and Cruz are.
  9. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 10:49 AM) Teams spending tons of money in free agency doesn't always translate to getting better. Most of the time it's the opposite. We dont even need to play the season I guess .
  10. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 10:37 AM) Sure they can get better, but so can Vikings and Packers. It's not like those two teams are aging teams, both very young as well. Of those 3 teams the one thats most likely to improve would be the Bears considering they were the worst of the 3 and have the better draft position and more cash for FA. Im pretty sure you dont have to tell everyone that the Vikings and Packers could get better.
  11. Was it some kind of a joke for them to add a scene in American Crime Story where Robert Kardashian is telling his kids that being famous is meaningless and hollow and you should always choose to be a better person and good friend instead of being famous?
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 23, 2016 -> 10:47 AM) Why I'm more worried about Marco Rubio than Donald Trump Rubio and Cruz are both pretty terrifying for me.
  13. This season was pretty bad. None of the challenges were interesting and the final seemed like it was thrown together at the last minute. Also, they need to set up the final where we know who the winner is when they cross the finish line, not waiting for mtv to announce it. Also, I dont think they have a strong enough crop of young people to keep the challenges exciting. All of the stuff with CT, Wes, Johnny Bananas, Kenny etc. None of the newer kids on there are as interesting.
  14. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Feb 16, 2016 -> 09:22 AM) They weren't doubling or tripling. Prior to the ACA, I (healthy young person) was paying $130/month for health and dental through Blue Cross Blue Shield, with a plan roughly equivalent to a "silver". When the ACA went into effect, that plan became $390. So I went to the health market, where the cheapest option was $200/month for a "bronze" plan far worse than what I had before. Luckily, I got a job status change around this time and picked up coverage through my employer, so I didn't have to take any of those options. One of my in-laws (a fairly healthy young person with low-moderate income) has been on an ACA plan, but this year her rate doubled. She makes slightly too much (by working 3 low-wage jobs) to get enough subsidies to make the plans affordable, so she's going without coverage and paying the $695 penalty. Awesome. Her boyfriend is in the same boat. I'm glad the ACA has been good for people with really low incomes and the sick, but as far as I can tell, it's been complete ass for everyone else. Both my brother and roommate are opting to pay the fine because its cheaper than the insurance and they cant afford it. My brother has been a waiter in California for over 10 years and now he says its nearly impossible to find a full time waiting job because of it. Its good to hear that it allowed some people to get help who otherwise wouldnt have been insurable but I just dont get the praise Obamacare gets from some people when there are so many people who are being punished with a fine because they cant afford health care, especially considering they could afford it before.
  15. I honestly havent met a single person who says Obamacare has helped them. Mostly you hear people complaining that their job cut their hours or that peoples premiums have went up.
  16. Sanders supporters posted a video claiming all kinds of fun Clinton polling corruption.
  17. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 06:15 PM) In my gut, I believe Steven Avery is innocent of this crime. But, I also don't think it will ever be solved. I don't think anyone in Manitowoc County gives a rats behind about the Averys and as far as they are concerned, case closed. And it's a shame. There are just too many "ifs" to not go back and interview other members of the community. I mean, if Steven Avery did kill her, then he's already in prison, but Bobby, Chuck, Earl, Scott, shoot even her ex-boyfriend or roommate...none of those people were even thought about. Well, maybe they were as a formality, but not seriously. I'm outraged by the system. He's at least got Kathleen Zellner from Chicago representing him now. From what Ive heard about her, she is exactly who you would want for a situation like this.
  18. The Edward Edwards conspiracy theory tied to this is pretty interesting. Some pretty crazy coincidences.
  19. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 07:38 PM) I have finally accepted that Patrick Kane isn't a good person. He's great at hockey and makes the Blackhawks good, so for now that will have to do. Not ready to call him a sexual predator based on twitter posts. Give the Buffalo accuser a lot of credit. She did all the right things from a procedural standpoint. Ya fabricating evidence was a brilliant move.
  20. So I guess the Republican thread has simply turned into Gawker in 2016.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 02:14 PM) Yeah, this is where I'm worried about a screw up. We have 3-4 cities we are in in China. Some we are staying at a friends, so we booked a hotel we plan to cancel. It's a lot of paperwork to have, and we are also flying out from a diff airport we are flying into. I do NOT want to go 3-4 times due to missing paper work. It sounds like they have gotten much faster though, which is great. Ya the process is pretty quick if you have all of the paper work. All we brought for hotel info was printed out confirmation emails from a hotel we booked online and they said it was fine.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 01:37 PM) There is an embassy 2 blocks away. I have passport pictures and have printed out computer typed application. When I got my Chinese Visa in Chicago about 2-3 years ago they needed a copy of your round trip tickets and proof of where you were staying for the entire trip. They actually shot down most of the people who were there for a visa because they didnt have the right paperwork. We had everything we needed and it ended up being fairly painless, picked up the visa's in four days I believe.
  23. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 09:38 PM) I'm so ready to be at Sunday's game. Fly out tomorrow morning. It's so cold in Chicago. How did I ever handle it? It was over 40 today in January. Its pretty much spring.
  24. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 04:51 PM) I hope this gets covered the same way the other story did from almost 10 years ago. Very important stuff. It was important enough for the liberal media to jam down our throats for months when Palin did it. Now that a democrat says something equally as dumb its just not important...
  25. QUOTE (Tony @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 05:36 PM) THIS IS REAL. That video kind of reminds me of when they first get to North Korea in The Interiew.
