Adam LaRoche retires
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:01 PM) Change is fine, but if you have given your word, that should mean something. Has anyone credible confirmed KW guaranteed LaRoche's kid access 100% of the time? There is a big difference between telling someone the clubhouse is family friendly (which never changed) and guaranteeing 100% access every single day.

Making this public is bad parenting no matter how this really went down.- 2016 Republican Thread
I wonder how many more votes this will end up getting for Trump.- 2016 Republican Thread
QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 07:55 PM) Owned. f*** the police. Run me over, I'll smash your car in and aim for your skull, loser. Ya sounds like the Trump supporters are the only problem lol- 2016 Catch All Thread
QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 01:20 PM) I do it often as well as buy from hot bar and salad bar. Marianos FTW Ya thats what I do too. Their hotbar is so much better (and cheaper) than Whole Foods.- 2016 Catch All Thread
Just a heads up for anyone who may not know, most Marianos have grill stations in the meat department and you can have them grill your steak, fish, chicken, sausage or w/e they have there for free of charge. Its nice to get a seasoned and grilled 1 lbs NY strip for like $8.- 2016-2017 NFL Thread
Id really like the Bears to go after Ladarius Green when Bennett is inevitably gone. I love his athleticism.- 2016-2017 NFL Thread

Far Cry Primal is just ok so far. I really think they needed better combat, maybe something similar to the Assassins Creed games, instead of just running up to someone and stabbing them in the head with a spear 10x till they die. It is kind of fun riding around jousting people on a sabretooth tiger though.- 2015-2016 NBA Thread
In an 82 game season its pretty meaningless to try to label the greatest upset of all time. Especially since there are absolutely zero consequences for the loss.- MMA Thread
The Rousey vs Holm rematch should have happened before Holm vs Tate, but it didnt. Assuming Ronda beats Tate again it will set up a nice rematch anyway. If Rousey tries to dodge Holm again her legacy is gonna take an enormous hit.- 2016 Republican Thread
Also, now I really want to hear what is on those New York times tapes.- 2016 Republican Thread
I dont think anyone looked particularly good tonight. Kasich was ok but he kind of just says the same thing over and over. I think hed do well if he got the nomination but doubt it could happen. Rubio and even Cruz to a degree seemed ok until they started trying to turn the debate into a circus by constantly going at Trump. I actually think Trump looked pretty bad, Rubio really got under his skin. Trump could have been worse though considering this was a coordinated effort to take him down.- 2015-16 NHL thread
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 05:58 PM) I said the team with one scoring line wasn't a contender. I was 100% correct. The team has been reconstructed since. Still waiting on your answer about Seabrook's defense. They say the best defense is a good offense.- 2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 04:26 PM) I didn't misinterpret your posts as defending David Duke or his ideology. I'm pointing out that taking a cheap shot at Hillary for embracing "a former KKK member" has the effect of distracting from Donald Trump's base of support among white supremacists. Even if that wasn't your intention, that's what that does, and that's clearly the intention of the people distributing the image macro in the snopes article you linked; "Donald Trump, the guy who has enjoyed the support of white supremacists since he kicked off his campaign with his "Mexico is importing rapists and murderers" speech, isn't racist, Hillary Clinton is the real racist!." Which is again not necessarily what you were intending to do, but that's the message those sorts of false equivalencies convey. It's used as a shield from criticism. The same sort of excuse-making comes up all the time whenever conservatives or conservative ideology is being accused of racism in some form or another; Republicans freed the slaves! Democrats ran Jim Crow! Democrats filibustered the Civil Rights Act! Robert Byrd was in the KKK! All true, but all irrelevant to current ideological alignments and often lacking historical context and developments since then. If the discussion shifts to "Hillary Clinton's relationship with Robert Byrd," it's no longer about David Duke supporting Trump's campaign in 2016. Thats fine and Ive admitted I made a mistake by posting the link without doing more research. Im fine with whatever s*** I get for that part of it because it was my mistake. As long as its clear that I it in no way was trying to defend or make excuses for Duke or the KKK, which it sounds like you understand at least.- 2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 03:57 PM) You admitted that it was just an attempted shot at Hillary. It doesn't change anything about Duke, but it does attempt to change the discussion about the role white supremacist support for Trump is playing by making a false equivalency. If you want to take a shot at me for incorrectly trying to take a cheap shot at Hillary thats fine. I should have read more about it before I posted it. But trying to say Im downplaying the KKK or David Duke is complete bulls***. Ive gotten s*** from white supremacists my whole life because of my religion and it is really offensive to have someone try to make it sound like Im defending them by twisting my words. You misinterpreted what I said and even though Ive explained it three times you keep going back to the same thing.- 2016 Republican Thread
Im just glad I dont have to listen to Ben Carson beg for people to attack him so he gets time to talk this time.- 2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 03:37 PM) Well, like I said, next time read your own link. David Duke is an active white supremacist, holocaust denier and Trump supporter. Robert Byrd was in the KKK 70 years ago, repudiated that past, and was an advocate for civil rights for decades afterwards. Both things are clearly stated. Dragging out Byrd's corpse as an attempted "gotcha!" on Clinton is in effect downplaying what David Duke stands for and what the white supremacist support for Donald Trump indicates. It doesn't mean that you're trying to defend those peoples' actual views, but you're attempting to deflect criticism away from those points of view and the people who support them. Byrd's membership in the KKK in the 1940's gets brought up frequently as a shield from criticism for modern-day racist policies and ideologies. Nothing I said was meant to downplay Duke. I was using Duke as the bench mark for being a piece of s*** and as I said tried lumping Byrd in with him and then admitted I was wrong about Byrd. That doesnt change anything about Duke though. I never said or implied that Duke wasnt so bad because of Byrd did I?- 2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) I'm sorry, but read your own f***ing link next time before JAQing off. It made it very, very clear why that comparison was a dumb one to make. Your words aren't being twisted. You're attempting to downplay how terrible modern and active white supremacists are by "just asking questions" that your own links tell you are dumb questions. The only way to make it a shot at Hillary is to downplay just how awful of a human being David Duke is in the year 2016 by trying to compare him to 2000's-era Robert Byrd. No, I incorrectly thought Byrd was as bad as Duke. I think theyre both pieces of s***. Also, I generally try not to post personal things on message boards but as a Jewish man I have many many reasons for thinking the KKK is just about the most reprehensible groups of people on the planet, I just never thought Id need to explain it.- 2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 03:05 PM) first post, this page: Republican thread: GOP Presidential frontrunner acting as if he doesn't know who David Duke is and that he'd have to "look into" white supremacist groups before distancing himself from them. Im honestly not trying to get into a snarky debate about this. If you want to paint me as something Im not on the internet go ahead. Admittedly I probably should have done more research about Byrd beyond him formerly being in the KKK. I was genuinely curious why it wasnt brought up since it seemed like a reasonable comparison. I dont appreciate my words being twisted to try to make it sound like I was defending either of those guys and especially not the KKK. It was clearly a shot at Hillary and not in defense of anyone.- 2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) lol "I'm just askin questions here!" I think both Duke and Byrd are/were assholes so not sure why you guys are trying to make it sound like Im defending them. My point is that if theyre going to spend hours upon hours blasting Trump for taking too long to condemn a former clansmen , which he has already done in the past, then why isnt it fair game to mention Hillarys relationship wth Byrd? I personally dont think either situation is a big deal but simply asking the question is not defending anyone, which Im sure you know.- 2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) It was inevitable that "but Byrd!" would make an appearance. Yes, David Duke really is different from post-KKK Robert Byrd as your own link makes pretty clear. The attempted downplaying of the KKK and David Duke is pretty disgusting. Well if you find anyone who is downplaying that let me know.- Shooting in CO at Batman premiere

Is David Duke really that different from Robert Byrd? Former Klansmen who claimed they werent affiliated with the KKK in decades, both got into politics after being in the KKK. http://www.snopes.com/clinton-byrd-photo-klan/ - Adam LaRoche retires
