QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 08:31 PM) I doubt it. Are you using one of the black Motorola ones? Those are awesome and almost never drop out so I would be surprised if that's what it was. More than likely it's your signal strength that's the problem. Both times where I had my modem going in and out, that's what it was. Back at my old apartment complex, it kept dropping my signal every time I started using a lot of bandwidth, like playing a game or loading someone's Myspace that had music on it or something which obviously was annoying as hell. Eventually, after a couple of visits, I found that the problem was the wiring that needed to be upgraded. The place I was living in was built and wired for cable, but this was way before anybody had ever heard or thought of digital cable boxes and wireless internet, which used a lot of bandwidth. So underground, they had the older, thinner cables that would get taxed out at my 3 cable boxes and cable modem all asking for bandwidth at the same time. They upgraded the cables outside which took a while since they had to get a contractor to go underground, but at least they (Comcast) didn't charge me for the time I was using crappy internet. Now, you'd think Comcast would go upgrade all those at once so they don't have to deal with the problem, but I guess they're looking after their bottom line and that'd cost too much to do all at once. Right now, I'm also using cable internet (not Comcast b/c of come contractual thing that I don't know much about) and I was having signal issues for a while, but it's because I was splitting my signal between this computer and the TV behind me. I had to disconnect it from a TV, it didn't work with better splitters. I guess my cable runs too long for it to do that so I'm gonna buy a signal booster and see how that works out. That sounds exactly like what it might be for me. I dont have the black modem but I bought a different one and had the same results. I notice that if Im on AIM and have my SlingBox going or on certain pages is when it has the problems.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 08:05 PM) It's definitely my modem. It goes on and off, not the router, unless the router causes it to go on and off. Mines doing the exact same thing and when I got a new modem it kept doing the same thing. Im assuming it has to be something with the service. Ive tried everything and even when I unhooked the router and ran the internet directly through the modem it did the same thing. Its pretty damn annoying.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 07:02 PM) Our problem with Comcast is the modem. It goes off sometimes for no reason. All a tech has to do is come out and fix it or change it and they no show twice. I also see lower prices for high speed elsewhere. I mean is there much of a difference with the cable high speed and DSL? I'm not even totally sure what DSL is. It sounds like you might be having the exact same problem as me. About 3 weeks ago it started, my router will just reset every once in a while. Sometimes every hour and sometimes every minute where I have to sit there and keep refreshing. My recent problem with Comcast was the only one Ive had and Ive used them for about 7 years. When the problem started I called and they said it was my modem and that I could go and exchange it at a store if I didnt want to wait for an appointment. It was a Saturday and I asked them if my local Elmhurst location was open and i was told it was, which it wasnt, no big deal though. Next I call back and they apologize and say to go to the Schaumburg location, about 20 minutes away. I get there, wait in line with my old modem, get to the counter, no problem she gets me a new modem. Messes with the CPU and takes it back saying they cant give me one there because it messes up their inventory. So I go in the parking lot and call and they apologize again. They say they cant come out for an appointment till the following Sunday, at this point its Saturday, but he lets me in on a little "secret." If I buy one from Best Buy and complain they will refund me and I wont have to rent theirs anymore. So I go and buy one for 70 bucks or so. Take it home, activate it, success. For about 2 hours, then the new one has the same problem. Call again and set up appointment for 8 days away. Take off work so I can be there for sure because I need the internet. Obviously they dont show up, they did however keep calling and saying they were on their way and actually entered into their computer that they finished the job. Then, 2 days ago I pull into my driveway and see a Comcast van there. The guy gets out and yells at me, seriously. I didnt even have an appointment, then I figure, if hes here, let him fix it. Nope, hes late for his other job and we know how they dont like being late for other jobs. I checked my bill online and saw they charged me for not being there when they showed up and I talked to a supervisor on the phone and she hung up on me. Im moving soon, so I think I might have to find another company. I love the cable but Im not dealing with that s***.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 11:39 AM) haha whats funny is that rodgers is gonna get murdered for every loss, every INT, every mistake....i think its safe to say that rex wont be the most scrutinized QB out there anymore Especially now that Eli has a free pass for life.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 08:47 PM) two chicks at the same time You dont need three hundred million to do two chicks at the same time. I would hire a film crew to document the rise and fall of a new money millionaire so I could sell my story after I went broke and hopefully make some money with it. Then I would buy a fleet of H1 Hummers and me and my friends would drive around and go to gas stations and fill them up all the time and laugh at everyone struggling with gas prices and possibly even have gasoline fights Zoolander style.

QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 03:00 PM) John Madden just collapsed in happiness. Really, this is just getting old. The Packers have all the leverage here, but they'll come out looking like ass-holes if they don't do anything, considering how loved Farve is. My guess is, eventually, he'll get traded or released, and either the Bears or the Panthers (don't know, Delhomme and Moore is a decent 1-2) will sign him. I dont think he would ever sign here. Maybe Minny because that rivalry isnt as strong as ours but I dont know if Favre would want to do that to the Green Bay fans who have loved him for years.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 03:34 PM) I think its hilarious that Farve has not even missed training camp or a preseason game and everyone is pissed about his retirement? It seems to me that the Packers wanted a 100% final commitment at the end of last season. It seems that Farve was burnt out after a long season and when pressed decided that he didnt want to do it 1 more year. Now its a few months later. Hes had time to sit around and realizes that maybe the decision he made a few months ago was not the right one. To me it sounds like the Packers completely screwed themselves when they basically forced Farve's hand when they wanted to know what to do with Rodgers. Instead of giving Farve time and letting him weigh things out (every year Strahan and other vets do the exact same thing) they forced him to make a decision without really fully thinking it through. Im sorry but if Farve wants to play he should be able to, and if the Packers dont want him anymore, thats fine too. But that seems to be the real reason he retired in the first place, because he didnt feel like the Packers wanted him back. As for potential Farve landing spot.... Atlanta Falcons? I know he lives in the south and they could use a veteran QB while Ryan develops. It would also be a huge move for the Falcons to make fans start to forget about Vick, because Farve even in this stage of his career would be a huge fan favorite. Some what like Montana in KC. You dont see why people would be pissed if he announced his retirement and then forced his hand to come back? Not even Rodgers? The team needed to move on since he was gone. They needed to change the offensive philosophy, personnel and the overall attitude of the team. Losing an icon like Favre isnt something that can be turned on and off easily. There is a huge difference between what the team would be doing depending on who was at QB and it takes time to adjust.

QUOTE (Soxy @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 08:48 AM) I have an unusual name--but I'm told it's a very popular name in Greece. I really hated having an unusual name when I was younger--but I think it's something you grow into. I feel the same way. When I was younger I hated having an unusual name. Days with substitute teachers were dreaded. As I got older I began to like it though. I was able to go through life being easily associated with only three letters so that helps with people knowing and remembering you. -

I would bet my life that not one person on this site knows anyone that has the same name as me, spelling included. -
I know a guy on the left coast and he let me in a secret. A "soon to be gone lane" is actually a "merge lane." It does however become gone so I can see the confusion of it not being in the name. Basically, it disappears and they expect you to "merge" with the other cars. Those sons of b****es.

Watching two guys talk about why one of their molestations was worse than the other was enough for me.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jul 6, 2008 -> 07:00 PM) LOL at Cub fans banking on getting him. I won 50 dollars. I saw a thread on here talking about him going to the Brewers and my brother the Cubs fan bet me the Cubs would get him but the only way I won is if the Brewers got him. Im a fan.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 6, 2008 -> 12:00 PM) Also further proof that selecting All-Stars never has, and never will make any sense. Dont get me wrong, I love Crede, but this isnt the year he should be at the All-Star game. His defensive numbers are just atrocious, and the fact that Crede is known for being more of a defensive player should exclude him from the allstar game. JMO of course Is that cookie supposed to be the monster from cloverfield?

Correction, we dropped the warranty so its roughly 1850. Home run BA!

QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 5, 2008 -> 06:05 PM) Iam gald it worked out for you DB.You have to be careful with that no interest for 36 months though, sometimes they wont charge you that interest for the 36 months but if you dont have it nearly payed off by the end of that they will charge you all that interest at once.I know bestbuy does that s***. Ya, well have it paid off in about 2 months so were not worried about that. Were only financing 900. Im closing on a condo in a little over a month so were trying to get all the stuff like this out of the way because Im gonna be broke after that.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 5, 2008 -> 02:10 PM) Thats why you ask them to break out the Blue Ray or another player. If you can bring your own DVD maybe like Batman Begins or something with good dark colors to see what it looks like. They always have the same demo DVD that has lots of bright colors with slow transitions. You want to see the entire spectrum if you can. ya, the Blu ray was what sealed it for us. They had the HD spliced throughout the main wall of TVs and most of them looked like s*** so I asked him to hook up a blu ray and he put it on the two tvs with that Mother Earth DVD and we both liked the picture of the Samsung much more. So we just ordered it on Amazon for $2100 we got 52" Samsung 550, 3 year warranty, wall mount and a cable. They also gave us 36 months 0 interest which was better than what Circuit City offered. I know people make threads asking about this stuff a lot but you guys literally just saved us a good amount of money so thanks. My friend was ready to go and buy from Circuit City today and the TV alone would have been close to 2200. I owe all you guys a beer.
-
QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Jul 5, 2008 -> 01:12 PM) Amazon's at $1800 on the Samsung, plus no tax. Something to weigh against the financing offer. Ya, I checked that out. It would be pretty dumb not to get it online. Ill probably go check them out in person and then order it.
-
Thanks guys. Im gonna go check them out soon. So far Samsung seems to be the consensus.
-
Me and my roommate are getting a TV and were torn between these two. The price difference isnt really an issue. Or if anyone knows of something better for around the same price. Sony Samsung We arent 100% committed to Circuit City but we were going to finance some of it and they have a deal on that now so we prefer to shop there. If a good deal arose we could charge the difference though. Thanks for any help.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 4, 2008 -> 11:56 AM) I'll just throw an obvious one out there: Favorite all time Sox players. That one would be too predictable though, it would be unanimously: Jose Valentins mustahce Frank Thomas Dan Pasqua Damaso Marte
