  1. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 05:12 PM) So since we are going to be trotting out a jv rotation next year, why don't we just move the team to Montreal to make the White Sox a complete bush league team. Can't wait for Bingo Night at the Cell....
  2. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 05:09 PM) Okay, I've cooled down. Sorry for my explosion, but I am livid. It's ok, we are all friends here, but the knife down.....slowly....
  3. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 05:06 PM) Williams is trying to avoid that with the trades he is making now..... Great, we'll have pitching but can't score runs....
  4. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 05:03 PM) And McCarthy wasn't going to be the magical band-aid that fixed it all, so let's not pretend that it would be. I never said he was, but he would of been our best option to win now when we have the team built to do it.
  5. QUOTE(RX Bandits @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 05:03 PM) you said everything i did not want to type. my god face it people, you cant know the winner of this trade until years after. In a couple of years we will be in a rebuild mode instead of a "win now" mode which we are in right now. Don't you get it? This trade does not help us now when we are actually a contender.
  6. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:59 PM) McCarthy has not started for an entire season for the Sox. Assuming that the tolls of the 162 game season as a starter wouldn't possibly hurt him (a DL stint), who's to say that he'd suddenly turn all that untapped potential you see into his supposed ace material? You question that the other starters are going to be able to carry the ball (despite having proven over entire seasons that they can) yet with no sample size from which you can cite, you demand for us to take the leap in over a chasm of logic to believe that just imputting McCarthy into the rotation is automatically going to mean that he'll have it all put together. And this is just as feasible as the situations you thought up -- what if McCarthy puts up an ERA the wrong side of 5 for the entire season? He got traded while he still had an upside and we got a lot for him. Although I really thought the Cardinals would have bitten at the McCarthy for Pujols straight up deal. I was going off his extreme post that McCarthy would be nothing and that everything is okay with the Sox, when it is not.
  7. QUOTE(Wanne @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) No...point being a lot of people thought Matt Thornton was total crap...as well as people in the Mariners orginization and fanbase...having the same opinion of Thornton that you do of Floyd. That's the point I was making. Having watched Floyd pitched since he was drafted by the Phillies and living in the area, I've seen enough to make that decision, like a lot of scouts have, as well to the point that he was a throw-in player in a trade now. QUOTE(RX Bandits @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:54 PM) I never said people cant have the opinion that I don't, however, my ARow point is that ARow really wasn't that good, he is just a guy. Hell I think hes a great guy, I would buy him a beer if I ever saw him at a bar. But my point is that KW does not get attched to players that end up screwing him over. I think that is a quality characteristic of a GM. I guess what I am trying to say is that Brandon has a great spring training, and last year he looked real bad out of the bullpen for a while. Doesn't make up the fact that we get hosed in this deal, you can get more for McCarthy then this.
  8. QUOTE(RX Bandits @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:47 PM) but how do you know BMac can start?!?! I dont think he has enough different pitches to be a solid every 5th day starter. your argument is flawed because I can reverse all of those arguments into positives. that is the only name that comes to mind, but even when boston was on top, foulke was still kinda bad. I'll give you half credit for it, but Foulke was never very dominant for a long period of time after leaving By what you just said, what if McCarthy wins 20 games and Denks never makes the big leagues. Turn a negatives into positives. And yes I know McCarthy can start because he's start for this team. If we were going to trade McCarthy, this wasn't the right time to do it.
  9. QUOTE(Wanne @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:42 PM) I'd like to go back and see how many people said this about Thornton too. Totally different situation. Your banking on a garbage pitcher to be in the top of your rotation to a middle reliever in a non high profile trade in Thornton.
  10. QUOTE(RX Bandits @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:42 PM) IT'S A 5TH STARTER!!!!!! Really, it's not like BMac was projected to be a #1 this year or anything. Moreover, I dont believe he would have ever been a #1 exactly. I lean more towards the "something that the fans dont know" sort of thinking. It's a step back because you know Count is good for a DL stint or 2. Is MB going to rebound? Will Vaz every find his stuff back from his Montreal days? Will Garland even be on this team? Too many questions marks when you had a guy ready to step into the rotation with not much of a drop off.
  11. It only takes one bad one to start. We are getting ripped everywheres for this one. A true head scratcher by KW.
  12. QUOTE(RX Bandits @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:32 PM) im still waiting for someone to name a pitching prospect that the white sox traded and then that prospect became good. has not happened in the last 20 years at least, and therefore, I have every reason to believe the white sox are right again. If not then KW just started that trend now...
  13. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) Thank you X Box GM, I will forward this to Coop and KW Go ahead, Philly has been dying to get rid of him for years. He got lit up in AAA, they still brought him up, got lit up in the NL, they brought him back down to AAA, got lit up again. And now he is still getting lit up in Winter ball. He's done and Kenny bit on him.
  14. People! Gavin Floyd sucks! He will be out of this league in 2 years, book it! He is not the present nor is he ever going to be the future. I've seen him pitch for years and doesn't even deserve a shot in our bullpen.
  15. Danks kind of rhymes with Jenks....
  16. Can't wait till we trade Dye for a bag of peanuts....
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) Well this trade isn't cutting payroll. I know that, but that statement was brought up in this thread...
  18. Didn't KW come out recently and say that they are not cutting payroll? So if that is the case, the money has to be going somewheres. If not, KW will get grilled for it.
  19. And if were counting on Gavin Floyd to be our 5th starter, then were are servely screwed. Having watched Floyd pitch for the Phillies, he is a brutal pitcher who will get lit up at the Cell. If KW thinks he's our answer, then I'm afraid were done on December 23rd.
  20. Anything less then signing Zito will be a disapointment at this point...
  21. Well, no reason to re-up my MLB.TV, there not going to be worth watching anymore.
  22. Damn, no Widger, the key to the 2005 playoff run... yes I am kidding...
  23. Jared Weaver had a Cards jacket and hat on to root for his brother....haven't heard a peep from the angels about it.
  24. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 12:49 AM) Have any of you actually seen Gavin pitch? People need to stop acting like they know everything. Almost all of us hated when Freddy pitched last year. He couldn't throw 90 mph, he had a lazy attitude, he got in trouble for smoking the reefer, and he made $10 million. KW knows more than you. All of you. I have and Gavin Floyd sucks.
