  1. From the Trib today: From KFFL: From Rotoworld:
  2. I loved Thome's monster bomb in the rain on opening night!
  3. Phillips tonight picked Dodgers vs Yanks for the World Series.
  4. Maybe I should get my money back for MLB.TV this year.
  5. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 05:58 PM) I think the point your missing is that Toby Hall made the White Sox much better in their weakest area, hitting left handed pitching. Most catchers are right handed hitters hence the need for a Toby Hall is not that great. The Sox needed a guy to in those games when they faced Lee, Sabathia, Santana, etc, would give them a better shot. In games when they face right handed pitchers (80% of the time) this move is meaningless. Also the next time AJ twists an ankle trying to hit a LOOGY, remember this. His batting stats aren't impressive at all... http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/players/playerpage/127172
  6. If you don't like Javy then you go out and make a deal. Or wait for waviers to pick up someone from a team with 3 good catchers like the Phillies. Your all acting like the season hinges on Toby Hall. Like Javy, theres a reason why he was traded for nothing from Tampa to LA and then LA wanted nothing to do with him.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 05:50 PM) You didn't get to watch Widger and Alomar play a lot, did you? Name one player, off the top of my head without making a trade: Javy Lopez Secondly, I've seen them play enough, I have MLB.TV and watch almost every game. How many games was Hall going to play in a week, the max, 1. Therefore, it is a lost, but it's not the end of the world, calling for Ozzie head, etc. You people need to relax a little bit. Not the end of the world.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 05:46 PM) Good to know Kenny Williams just guaranteed $3.8M to a dime a dozen player. No, it's not as big a loss as losing a starting position player but to just write it off as a meaningless injury just seems foolish to me. I'm not writing it off, what I'm saying is that there are the same players out there as Hall that can do the same things. And yes, KW overpaid for a backup catcher.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 05:44 PM) Wow....I'll keep this post in mind over the course of this season when our back-up catchers are hitting .200 or lower. I'm sure they will when they play once a week.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 05:40 PM) Correct. Back up catchers are so unimportant. I'm sure Hall agreed as well, that has absolutely nothing to do with it. back up catchers are a dime a dozen. I'm sure KW can lure Javy Lopez here or a player like him. Its not as a big deal like losing Tads, Crede, Dye, etc. for the season. Too much overreaction for a back up who was marginal at best.
  11. a 12 page thread about a back up catcher? You guys are nuts. BTW, your a fool if your blaming Ozzie for this. I'm sure Hall agreed to play first base instead of been forced into the situation.
  12. Here to Juan, for staying some what of a decent player so we dont have to see Cintron play everyday...
  13. Thorton and Mac are untouchable according to KW. Any Lieber is just brutal, no one wants him and the Phillies can't find any takers for him especially at $7 million for this season.
  14. Until there is an actually source to anything about any trades, not just BA, why bother speculating....
  15. I have been saying it since we got Floyd from the Phillies, he stinks! I've seen him for years since I am in the Philly market living in South Jersey, and he hasn't impressed at all since the minor leagues. He is a complete waste of a roster spot and I still can't believe he is the best (along with Gio) we got for Garcia. Thumbs down to KW.
  16. QUOTE(bigruss22 @ Feb 18, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) can you shut up now? he brought us a world series trophy, and the team is still very competitive and jsut because teams like the cubs and giants raise the market value for players and the sox cant afford to chase players vs. the Red sox and Yanks and other big spenders means we should fire him? cmon, no general manager would somehow be able to lower the asking price of these players, and KW has a plan and if JD, Beurhle, or Guch arent in them then so be it, KW is committed to winning and so far has had a ton more success than alot of other people No I will not shut up. KW has been horrible this offseason. Poor trades for Garcia and McCarthy. Trading Cotts for nothing. And now unwilling to even talk about extending our up and coming free agents. Sure we won a World Series, but I don't want to be a one and done team. And at this rate, why would any good free agent want to come here and why would any of our players want to resign with a hard nose, small market approach. Overall it's not get business to get your own players, and your fan base upset.
  17. Can we fire Ken Williams now? He is going to kill this team for years to come.
  18. i think, as of right now, it will be extremely difficult for this team to make the playoff. He completely downgraded our pitching staff, Thome is a year old, Pods is coming off an down year, Dye and Crede are only one 1 year deals, Urbie is a huge question mark and Brian Anderson still can't hit. out of contention? Sad but true. KW gets an F for this offseason.
  19. Look I have nothing against Gavin Floyd, I've never met him nor do I really care to. I am just trying to warn everyone that he isn't a good pitcher. Most people here have him pinned as our future number 2 starter. There is a reason the Phillies gave him up. He was a thrown-in player in the Garcia trade. Check the numbers, he is all hype and has not, as of right now, shown that he is even an option for the pen. All I am saying is don't get your hopes up on this guy because he has been a major bust so far. He is not even in McCarthy league as a pitch, talk about giving up the long ball, I think he's worse at it the BMac.
  20. Once again, Gavin Floyd sucks and shouldn't be counted for future plans.
  21. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 05:21 PM) ... At least this wasn't a salary dump. If BMac were to have done well, we would of "eventually" gotten a payday, so it was a future dump.
  22. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 05:19 PM) From KW Press Conference: It is hard to even believe anything KW says anymore. Look for a Garland trade Dec 26th.
  23. QUOTE(Wanne @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 05:13 PM) Another thing I think KW is reaching for a little here besides stockpiling for the future...that one or two of these guys steps up like it seems like the youngsters in Oakland have in recent years or Bonser in Minny did last year. It could happen. Have a little faith my brothas. Your really reaching with that comment there...
