D-Backs Cubs Series thread
This is from a Yahoo article on the Cubs Curse. "The Arizona Diamondbacks, of course, don't mind all the negativity surrounding their opponent. Said impish outfielder Eric Byrnes: "Bartman and the Billy Goat, I consider them teammates."" Stupid Cubs.

Bobby Freakin Jenks
I voted YES. Jenks had a great year and it shouldn't matter that he did this with a team that sucked. He deserves some votes just to recognize what he did. With 40 Saves on this team, just imagine what he might have done with a good team.

THIS DATE IN WHITE SOX HISTORY: SEPT 19/COWLEY no no
QUOTE(StatManDu @ Sep 19, 2007 -> 01:27 AM) SEPTEMBER 19TH 1984: Steve Christmas’ three-run pinch-homer in the seventh made the White Sox merry in a 7-3 win at Minnesota. Christmas’ blast came with the scored tied at three and with Greg Walker and Roy Smalley on base with two outs. Hmmm. The only homer Steve Christmas ever hit.

Chi Sox vs. K.C Royals
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 17, 2007 -> 07:35 PM) His OPS is up to .726 I honestly want them to lose, but I can't help being happy as ever when they win, or as in this case are winning. It's depressing as hell when they lose, as much as I think it would be for the better.

Great Falls vs. Billings
QUOTE(SoxAce @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 10:01 PM) GF won 8-1 Gallagher, Paiml, and Inouye with nights. Paiml has been on an absolute tear the second half (.366 in August and 10-15 so far in Sept.).

Great Falls vs. Billings
QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 11:02 AM) Actually tonight is not the first playoff game, the playoffs open this coming Sat. night in Great Falls vs. the Helena Brewers. The GF White Sox have three games remaining in their reg. season schedule. Oooops, my bad.
-
Great Falls vs. Billings
Projected starters are Kyle Lotzkar for Billings and Anthony Carter for GF. Carter (4-3, 4.15) has gotten better and better as this season progressed. June: 9.00 ERA in 3 starts. July: 4.56 ERA in 5 starts. August: 2.08 ERA in 6 starts.

Gio Gonzalez...classiest player in the organization
QUOTE(Calderon @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 11:10 AM) Gio currently leads the Minors with 185 strikeouts, 12 clear of Montgomery Biscuits' starter Jacob McGee. Nobody has more than one start left, but will the playoffs count towards the MiLB strikeout crown? (Not that I think there's an actual award, it'd just be a nice distinction for Gio). That is pretty awesome for a 21 year old in AA. BTW, Egbert is pretty high up on the K-leader list too with 162.

You knew it was coming....
QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 10:40 AM) The next insightful thing Mariotti says will be his first. He's a newspaper "shock jock", whose only intent is to rile someone up. Praise comes from him like frozen glue, while complaints/criticism/stupid nicknames flow from him like diarrhea. He is to be ignored and avoided. Well put.

Who would you like to see fired the most?
Greg Walker, plain and simple. Whereas a part of me wouldn't mind seeing each and every one of 'em fired, Walker leads the way for me due to the fact that all the others have their good points. With the Sox batting a mlb dead-last .243, next-to-last in runs scored, tied for last in OBP, etc., etc., the hitting coach has got to pay the price. With a 7th best HR total, how can we be 2 or 3 from the bottm in RBIs? Greg Walker, be gone!
-
AAP: Jim Gallagher
Jim Gallagher continues to tear it up at Great Falls. Now batting .335 with a .421 OBP. He's walked 31 times and has just 33 Ks in 224 ABs. Also, he remains error-free in the outfield. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...&pid=518706

Ricky Brooks
I know that picked as high as he was (95th overall), more has been expected of Brooks. But at least he has quietly done pretty well as a reliever in high-A ball. G 15, IP 18.2, H 21, ER 4, HR 0, BB 7, K 14, ERA: 1.93. I'm sure as a starter he's done, but maybe he'll have a future in the White Sox bullpen.
