  1. QUOTE(Soxfest @ May 6, 2007 -> 04:10 PM) Guys just saw Media Whore is back! At the end of the seventh-inning stretch, Yankees public address announcer Bob Sheppard told fans to turn their attention to the box, where Steroid Abuser was standing with a microphone. As the video scoreboard in right-center televised No Longer with Frosted Tips in his Hair, the seven-time Cy Young Award winner made the announcement himself. "It's a privilege to be back," he said. Shrunken Testicles agreed to a minor league contract and most likely will join the Yankees after several weeks getting into shape. Fixed
  2. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 6, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) Josh Fields will be a bust. I am with you on that. Our minor leagues have NOTHING to offer.
  3. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ May 6, 2007 -> 04:04 PM) Anybody else here for getting rid of Erstad and Pods and letting Anderson and Sweeney be the outfield for the rest of the year I would rather lose developing young players I suggest dumping Dye too in favor of Fields or Owens.
  4. Citron should be released. Don't wait til after the game. Do it now.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ May 6, 2007 -> 03:58 PM) I wonder how many bandwagon fans will not renew their season tix next year. If people don't renew them, KW's comments in the paper really seem like the beginning of the end of our World Series afterglow. And it will justify him not spending money. Can't wait to see Neifi Perez starting at 2B next season.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ May 6, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) Our minor league coaches/scouts should be executed for incompetence. Fixed.
  7. OUR MINOR LEAGUES ARE HOPELESS IF GUSTAVO IS OUR BEST CATCHING PROSPECT.
  8. Sweeney should have just went back to the dugout after his hit, cuz he will never score.
  9. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 6, 2007 -> 03:36 PM) CHAT. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?autocom=chat I'm there. C'mon Chat whores!!
  10. One win should not make this thread go away!
  11. Any chance the Mods can get KW to Soxtalk for a Q&A session like they do with prospects. Here's my first question: Bull: We played homerun derby in the second half of 2006 and got crushed. Yet you did not improve the offense. Kenny Williams, what were you thinking? KW: *Silence Bull: Your big offensive acquisition for 2007 was a guy that pretty much did not play in 2006. Was there not any change left in the couch cushions at the Cell this off season to sign a real player to help the team? KW: *Silence ...........
  12. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 6, 2007 -> 03:21 PM) we don't have a replacement for Buehrle Don't you remember from spring training that Andrew Sisco has starter potential?
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ May 6, 2007 -> 03:20 PM) Ichiro is going to get a fortune this offseason. With all of the holes we're going to have in the next few years with our lineup, we'd have nothing left to afford anything better than the 2 million dollar reserve crap we have right now. Ya, I know, but I can dream. Just like I will wake up from this nightmare offense in a few hours, right?
  14. How many homers does Gustavo have in this game? Or has Gustavo decided to take a chance today and try to hit for the cycle?
  15. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 6, 2007 -> 03:14 PM) I think the justification will be that our season ticket base will be down, and that type of salary will be a fantasy for Sox fans, along with getting A-Rod or Ichiro, who would make no sense to acquire if we have to give Buehrle up. If we lose Buehrle, Dye, and Gooch next off season, it will be worth it if we get Ichiro.
  16. Here's a thought: We need to start blaming Joey Cora for our offensive problems. He has not been getting guys thrown out at the plate enought this season.
  17. QUOTE(Soxfest @ May 6, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) I find it funny KW has been quiet lately he knows he has made major mistakes with this team! He's been working at ESPN disguised as Joe Morgan. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 6, 2007 -> 03:12 PM) There will be a lot of pretty good players available as free agents. If the White Sox lose all their guys and don't put much of an effort in landing a big name or 2, and this season is one which does not include playoffs, the residual effect of winning the World Series will be over and wasted. What big free agents do you see the Sox chasing with rolls of change in hand next off season?
  18. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 6, 2007 -> 03:08 PM) Just look for guys that used to be pretty good, but have gone downhill or have been injured and will be available for a bargain basement rate. Unfortunately that is where KW still shops. In that case, Travis Hafner should be wearing a White Sox uniform in 12 years.
  19. Maybe we can coax Mark McGwire into coming back for a half season, like the Yanks have done with that other steroid inflated media whore Roger Clemens.
  20. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 6, 2007 -> 03:05 PM) Probably Mike Devereaux, Cory Snyder, Ellis Burks, Lyle Mouton, Armando Rios, Brian Daubach or Dave Martinez the way we're going. I just wish we had Paco Martin, Warren Newson or even Matt Merullo to throw out in this punchless line-up. Heck, Ron Karkovice would be an improvement, or Joel Skinner even. You forgot Julio Franco. He will still be available.
  21. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 6, 2007 -> 03:01 PM) I think we all underestimated how much Thome's presence means to the line-up, in terms of OBP and forcing opposing pitchers to throw to Konerko and Dye. It's no coincidence that we've gone from the #1 offense in baseball to the worst...and a lot of it's directly traceable to Thome's and Pods' health. That makes me think about what happens when Dye and Thome are gone, because Konerko will be here long after both of them. Who will protect Paul then?
  22. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 6, 2007 -> 02:55 PM) Between the head down, shoulder shrugs and swinging his bat in disgust...man up, Paulie, be the captain!!! Nobody on this team has me more pissed than Pop Up Paulie and his current 5 year deal. He is supposed to be our most fear hitter right now, yet he isn't much passed Brian Anderson 2006 mode.
  23. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 6, 2007 -> 02:49 PM) It's telling that Iguchi is hitting 5th in this line-up. ... and has the second highest avg on the team with a whooping .240
