  1. http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation...g?event_id=2200 Big Jim still out on top.
  2. The Sox are still on pace for 99 wins, and that is after this horrible stretch. I am not too worried. Detroit is 1-5 in their last 6 games, and if not for their 15-1 stretch before that, the Sox would not be 2.5 games out.
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 02:43 AM) Can we try sending Uribe and Anderson to him? Classic, they can also wear the funny hat and wristband.
  4. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 06:36 PM) Myspace has to be the biggest waste of space on the internet. No way man, that site is awesome dude. A Myspace account is a must for all teenagers, or adults who are stalking teenagers.
  5. In JD's last 162 games dating back to early last year: .294 BA (595 ABs) .367 OBP .578 SLG .945 OPS 97 Runs 44 HRs 119 RBIs 31 2Bs 14 SBs Those are some pretty nice numbers to go along with some stellar defense. Definitely underrated.
  6. Tom Emanski >>> Greg Walker I wonder why McGriff never got anymore commerical deals, because he was very convincing in that commercial, especially with that imposing wrist band.
  7. QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) Mark Buehrle Jose Contreras Freddy Garcia* Bobby Jenks Joe Crede Tadahito Iguchi* Paul Konerko Jim Thome Jermaine Dye* A.J. Pierzynski*** The game is in Pittsburgh so no DH. Ozzie doesn't care if he gets roasted. He is going to put the best team on the field, so you have to figure there will be at least 7 Sox on the roster at a minimum.
  8. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 31, 2006 -> 11:00 PM) Keep It Simple Sox fans Platoon Paul and Jim, keep everyone else in their spots. Move on. I agree, use match-ups to drive the lineups.
  9. From the poll I would say bullpen is the greatest need, but overall I would say some consistency. It seems like Ozzie is overmanaging this year and the frequent lineup changes don't seem to be working. Another pressing need right now is a win.
  10. Uribe batting anything higher than 8th would be wasted ABs. I am just hoping his struggles this year are not associated with coming off the juice. He might not have the strength do to his leg kick anymore. Juan try some Creatine.
  11. He should get 200 wins as long as he stays on winning teams. Right now he is 4-2 with a 6.25 ERA. He needs to take a page out of Westbrook's book and throw some more sinkers.
  12. Hard to beat 8-0 with a 2.18 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 2 SHO. Then throw on 53Ks and only 9BBs in 82.2IP. The surprising stat is that teams are actually batting .261 against him, so if this stays true, his other numbers will eventually get worse.
  13. Pujols hits game winning 3-run HR in bottom of 7th with 2 out. That was his only hit of the game.
  14. QUOTE(Dawgs @ May 29, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) How is this a total fluke team? They have been shutout 4 times this year, and now in back to back games. It is hard to win when you don't score. 25% of their losses are by shutout. That is a bad sign. They have had a great run, and yet they are still only 1.5 games up. These next couple weeks are critical for them. They are not flukes right now, but in a couple of weeks they might be.
  15. Today he passed Jeff Bagwell for 30th on the All-Time HR list. Next up Carl Yastrzemski with 452. Congrats Jim!
  16. 2 Hit shutout ! ! ! Great game, lets keep the pressure on. Tigers lose to the Yanks.
  17. Paulie career vs C. Lee 3 HR, 10 RBI, .333 AVG (24 At Bats)
  18. I think Jon is capable of pitching better than what he has so far this year, but we will probably never see his 2005 production again. What worries me is that he has not even faced that many good lineups, and yet he is still giving up a ton of hits, HRs, and runs. 2006 KC 5.1IP 9ER (12th) DET 5.0IP 7ER KC 6.1IP 1ER (12th) SEA 8.0IP 3ER (11th)) LAA 7.0IP 5ER (14th) KC 7.0IP 1ER (12th) MIN 5.1IP 7ER (9th) TB 7.0IP 2ER (13th) OAK 6.1IP 4ER (10th) TOR 6.0IP 5ER (Batting Rank in parentheses) Besides for Detroit and Toronto, Jon has pitched the rest of his games vs the bottom of the AL in hitting, yet he still posts a 5.50 ERA vs those teams. In his last 22 Games dating back to August 2005, he is 7-8, with a 5.10ERA, and 1.40 WHIP. He also gave up 29 HRs in those 22 starts. He will get better but he will probably end the season with a 5.00+ ERA and a WHIP around 1.40.
  19. The Tigers have a tough stretch of games coming up, so we will see where they stand on June 11th after 4 games vs the Yanks, 3 vs Bos, 3 @ Sox, and 3 @ Tor. That is 13 straight games vs winning teams. Later in the month they get 9 more games vs winning teams in interleague play (Mil, Stl, and Hou). For the month of June, that is 22 games vs winning teams. If they are legit, they will still be in 1st on July 1st.
  20. I wouldn't send him down yet. He still can be used as a defensive replacement. If Mack is hot, leave him in and use BA as a late innings defensive replacement. The problem right now is not the Sox hitting, it is still their pitching. In 13 of the 17 losses, the opponents have scored 5 or more. In 9 of those losses they scored 7 or more. Regardless how bad the team is hitting, they are not going to win many of those games when the opponents score that much.
  21. They are very similar in the stats you listed, but some others are very different: Buehrle: 19 CGs 757 Ks 297 BBs .261 BAA Zito: 9 CGs 989 Ks 490 BBs .227 BAA Also, Zito had one great year in 2002 (23-5, 2.75 ERA, 1.13 WHIP) that pads his stats a little, but since then he has gone 42-39. Buehrle was 19-12 in 2002, and he has gone 51-34 since 2002. So they are pretty similar but they got there different ways. Mark is much more consistent.
  22. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 24, 2006 -> 08:26 AM) I'm glad they do though. I love watching the guy hit. Baseball's boring when they're just pitching around people constantly. It's kind of like what Wilbon says on PTI, how the game's sissified because of all that. The pitchers just need to learn how to keep him in the park. I agree that he is exciting to watch, but you would think he would be getting the Barry Bonds treatment and see less good pitches to hit and a few more walks. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 24, 2006 -> 08:58 AM) There's nothing you can do. Edmonds and Rolen are too good of hitters to allow a lot of BB to Pujols. Would you rather pitch to Pujols or Edmonds/Rolen? I would take the latter who have a combined 9 HRs in 265 ABs compared to 23 in 154 ABs. I wouldn't call Edmonds a good hitter either, at least not this year (.248 AVG, .739 OPS). I am not talking about every AB, but there seems like there are numerous situations where Pujols is up to bat and a BB would be a better scenario than a 2-run HR by Pujols, and he hits one.
  23. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 24, 2006 -> 04:32 AM) Not that Joe Crede and his high .280ish average would care. Thome started out at 3B, so put him there and slide Crede over to SS.
  24. QUOTE(Shamrock4Life @ May 24, 2006 -> 07:51 AM) in my honest opinion, pablo's bunt was stupid. if the A's field that right we might lose that game. but sometimes stuff works out for you, and it did there with pablo. If the A's field the bunt it is still a tie game. It was a risky play that paid off. Either way it is risky whether you make the play or not, but I wouldn't call it stupid.
