  1. Thome is due, Cintron and Mack both have hits.
  2. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) 4 runs all with 2 outs. Now that hurts. Count should have pitched today.
  3. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) Westbrook looks really good. Gonna be tough to score today. I just hope we can get to their bullpen as early as possible.
  4. 1st-4th is still pretty consistent. BP having the Sox 14th is just ridiculous.
  5. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) Going off of that, why did we just sign Contreras and JonG to long-term deals when their is no way in the world BMAC should not be pencilled into the rotation (I think this year) but next year at the freaking latest? BMAC is essentially untouchable in my mind. He still has plenty of time before arbitration, and he's ready to be an above average starter in MLB now. Imagine if he can fill out his frame a little and get that fastball up into the mid 90's--he's going to be a beast. His control was looking dominant at times last year, times during spring training, and now in his first outing in 2006. It's hard to be objective when dealing with a player like Brandon, but I think I'm being fairly reasonable in predicting ERA+ from him in the 125 range + 200 innnings next season. I just looked up his PECOTA, and they don't seem to liek him that much. Oh well. Based off the recent quotes from KW, B-Mac is going to be in the starting rotation for 2007, at least he will have a shot in ST. The Sox now have a ton of options, depending on the team needs and contract situations, they can deal anyone of the starting five at the trading deadline or after the season. Someone is going to be the odd man out.
  6. QUOTE(chisoxdavid @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 09:53 AM) Really? I thought a win counted for something in the M#. I guess I was wrong. It can't be 162 because there are only 161 games left. If the Magic number is more than the games remaining, you cannot clinch. If you started the season with a MN of 163 and only 162 games, on paper you wouldn't be able to clinch. The problem is you really can't do it effectively until you have played each team in the Division.
  7. Good stuff. These articles never get old. KW is the man.
  8. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 08:55 AM) 17 out of our last 18 and still rolling! Lets keep it going too.
  9. At the same site they have a game thread for the opening day. These comments remind me of Cubs fans:
  10. http://www.letsgotribe.com What year did this guy watch baseball? Sox had hitters with career years, yet no one batted over .290? Konerko is a pretend star? Back to back 40HR/100RBI seasons and he is pretending? Every type of luck known to babeball? Winning a short post season? Are you serious? The only reason it was short was because the Sox dominated. Would it have been better if the Sox went 11-5? It just cracks me up how people cannot make predictions about their own team without discrediting the Sox. So in a nutshell, he said the Indians were and are a better team than the Sox and they didn't have career years or every type of luck known to baseball. I guess he missed Opening Day.
  11. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/gameday...t=.jsp&c_id=cws Gotta love Anderson's comments about Thome. Also, I like the mentality of the team. They are really out to prove all the naysayers wrong.
  12. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 04:20 AM) This scout obviously paid no attention to Brian the last 2-3 weeks of spring training. Yeah how bout it. He started out slow, but he came on really strong, similar to Thome, and both of them have carried it into the regular season. In regards to trading starting pitchers, I figure the worst starter is going to be on the block, but there will be no rush to move them at the deadline. It will more than likely happen after the season - depending on the outcome of 2006. You don't want to have trade rumors mess with the chemistry of the team before the deadline. Just like last year, sometimes the best move is no move at all.
  13. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 02:44 AM) So we've forgiven him for being a Cub fan, then? He gets 2.5% forgiveness for every HR. So 39 more to go.

  15. QUOTE(beautox @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 02:48 AM) Sign me up, Matt Thorton looked solid, heres to hoping he has turned a corner and makes a nice fit in the bullpen. He did well under the pressure too. Opening Day as the World Champions against your archrivals and he throws 1 1/3 scoreless without a walk. He also had an inherited runner and struck out Hafner. I know it is only one game, but it counts now.
  16. I know if I had tickets, I would probably still be there waiting for Thome's bomb to land.
  17. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 01:32 AM) Holy s***, tonight's homer was the 431st of Thome's career and it also flew 431 feet. Weird stuff. That is really cool, didn't even realize that.
  18. QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 01:20 AM) The best part about Thome is that you can see him acting as almost an assistant coach in the dug-out, showing guys how to improve their stances and swings. I think he's going to help this team to be much more patient at the plate. I'm pretty damn jacked for the rest of this season. That is clearly evident by the Sox 9 walks. When was the last time they did that as a team in only 8 innings?
  19. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 01:14 AM) May this be the first of many. Thome Gooch Anderson Dye McCarthy Thornton YES! Thome homers, Gooch looked comfortable in the 2 slot, BA played like a Vet, Dye was his usual solid self, B-Mac looked great out of the pen, and who was that guy closing out the last inning and a third without a walk? Great way to kick off the title defense!
  20. This was such a relief game: - Sox Win - Pods played - Thome hit a HR - Gooch looked great - Anderson looked great - McCarthy looked great out of the pen - Thornton pitched and didn't walk a batter
  21. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 08:49 PM) s*** i think dads making me go to skool. That sucks. Hopefully game goes to like 5ish so he deff. cant make me go :] How many Opening Day games can you watch when your team is the reigning champion? One day of skool is not going to kill ya.
  22. Not that is matters, but there goes Mark's streak again.
  23. That extra long bottom of the 3rd probably didn't help Mark.
