  1. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 07:56 AM) Yeah, that's true....sorry. I just hear so much s*** about stuff like this from smokers. I should say "why do some smokers have to be so bitter". It's just I've already had 3 family members taken too soon because of their smoking habit, so it's a sensitive subject for me. I'm just razzin' ya. I know you didn't mean it in an attacking way.
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 07:42 AM) No, I tell them I'll get them thrown out if they don't quit being f***ing gross and smoking in my face. And I'll be the guy making sure they "enforce it". *Sighs* why do smokers gotta be so bitter, you still have designated ramps to slowly kill yourself. Generalize much...?
  3. QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 06:52 AM) I'm conflicted. I am a non-smoker, so on that level I like this. However, my first real memory of going to old Comiskey Park was the smell of cigar smoke from the older guys I'd be walking behind. So second-hand cigar smoke reminds me of baseball. I feel bad for smokers these days - they're made to feel like some kind of lepers, yet they're taxed ass over appetite by lazy politicians who'd rather slap another tax on cigarettes than try to figure out how they're wasting all the money in their current budgets. It's not fair to them. I'm a weaning smoker (down to maybe 2 packs a week and more often then not I am just holding it because I'm chewing gum and I can NOT smoke and chew gum at the same time - ick), and I like this. I do agree that smokers are treated like lepers, but it IS a nasty unhealthy and non-smokers shouldn't have to breath in the second hand smoke. The argument that it's unfair to both sides has merit, IMO.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 11:01 PM) Only a year and it will be effective in Cook County too which will be great. Chicago is Cook County..
  5. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 11:30 PM) What night are you working, again?
  6. QUOTE(rangercal @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 08:03 PM) are you kidding me? 5,000 a month since 97 is not enough to buy that ? Let's do the math here..... 5,000 month = 60,000 a year = 480,000 over the last 8 years. I don't entirely feel sorry for the girl. I agree she should meet her sisters. But damn, they are probably just after more money. Point is noted... however don't blame her for the child support laws in this country. His offspring, ALL OF THEM, are entitled to the SAME financial advantages. His other kids have been being supported on an average of $13 MILLION a year. Also, she didn't ask for any more support. She asked him to help out with a car and college. HE'S the one asking for money back. And you don't feel sorry for her...? You don't feel sorry that her father - whom she seems to want a relationship with - won't give her the time of day? What did she do to him? Nothing. If he's got beef with the mother so be it. There is no reason to be a jag to the daughter. Stand up and be a man and take responsiblilty for your actions. Being a parent goes far beyond writting a check despite what some asshole men in this country think.
  7. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) I am glad as well. Now, I wonder if my mom will ever attend a game with me again... She can still smoke there, just out on the ramps in designated spots.
  8. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) $70 bucks. That is outrageous. Don't even bother going then. They are all a rip to get into and drink at.
  9. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 03:56 PM) maybe LOL.. I'll let those who may have more experience answer then. If all else fails, Scores on North Ave and Mannheim isn't in the city... but it'll serve the purpose.
  10. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) What are the best places to go to in or around the city? It seems like we need to visit an fine establishment now that we are 18. What did u guys do once you turned 18? Are you referring to a strip club?
  11. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) That said, we did get $125 a piece for our extra Opening Day seats in the upper deck on Ebay. Shame, shame on you...
  12. QUOTE(WCSox @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) I'm pretty sure that Pizza Hut sold beer in the past, but I'm not sure about now. I don't even know where there is a Pizza Hut..
  13. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) WOW... What a s*** guy... God forbid a guy who makes 16 million a year pay for his daughter to have a car and go to community college... and then sue the mom for money when he should of been forced to pay more in the first place... What an asshole.... And that's why I'm on the mother and daughter's side. The mother could have taken his ass back to court and gotten waaaaay more then $5k a month all these years. CS is a % of GROSS income. I honestly hope the judge wakes up on the wrong side of the bed and does whatever he can to make him pay for opening this can of worms.
  14. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 02:22 PM) I cannot believe he was trying to jack you for that for club level. For that kind of dough, I expect a seat and a [crude reference to an oral act]. I think you guys are probably right, and I'm this/much closer to showing up Sunday night and taking my chances in the parking lot. You're also right in that dopey Cub fans and the like overestimate how much real Sox fans will pay for something like that. Just as we don't fill the park when the team sucks, on the other hand, we don't start shelling out rent money for one freakin' game because some greaseball happened to scam the tix ahead of us. Have a nice time, scalpers! In the parking lot... Oh, I believe it. That's what he's used to getting for his Cubs tickets. He doesn't know any better. I think you have a good chance of finding a ticket. There's a chance of rain now. Those snobs wont sit in the rain.
  15. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) At the park on the day of the game, I'd agree with that. But there are people dumb enough to pay a lot more than that online. Oh, I know. He said what do I expect them to go for..
  16. QUOTE(Linnwood @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) How much do you expect those to go for? Face value.
  17. QUOTE(chisoxdavid @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) Thanks guys, I guess Im leaning towards the patio. I want to stuff my face at a set price. I dont want to do the whole reservation thing. You need to plan ahead for the patio also. They don't sell tickets to it day of game. It's sold as a group deal.
  18. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 11:48 AM) Pizza Hut sells alcohol? I dunno about them.. but Giordano's, Palermo's, etc, etc.. they do.
  19. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 10:38 AM) Really? I just might try that. $500? You're right--there's gonna be a lot of people desperate to get rid of tix they thought were going to make them some bank. Thanks for the tip. I may be at opening day after all! (Er, night...) This morning the CFO (Cub fan who bought tickets for the playoffs) offered us 2 club level tickets for $250 each. He fully expected us to jump on them from the look on his face when we both laughed at him. I told him I would gladly take them and try to sell (give them away) them for him...
  20. The downstairs of the Club has a buffett for $22.95 (price might have gone up from last year) and it's a huge spread with 4 different food stations (meat, mexican, pasta, salad bar, and a huge sweets table). Upstairs sandwiches are priced well ($6.95 for a turkey sammich - up to $12.95 for a soup/sammich/salad combo). The drinks are the rip. Bottled beer is $5, and mixed drinks are insane. Downstairs this year will likely require advanced reservation. And maybe since they sold out membership there wont be any openings. Upstairs it's "if there is room.. come on in" with the only spots needing reservation are the seats along the glass - and they have a seating fee to watch the game there also (I think it's $5 per seat).
  21. QUOTE(chisoxdavid @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 01:11 AM) Hey!! Talk to the union Mother Nature.
  22. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060328/ap_on_...n_fetus_in_baby ....From Infant By PAUL GARWOOD, Associated Press Writer 4 minutes ago ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Surgeons operated on a 2-month-old Pakistani girl Tuesday to remove two fetuses that had grown inside her while she was still in her mother's womb, a doctor said. The infant, who was identified only as Nazia, was in critical condition following the two-hour operation at The Children's Hospital at Pakistan Institute of Medical Science in the capital, Islamabad, said Zaheer Abbasi, head of pediatric surgery at the hospital. Abbasi, the chief doctor who led the operation, said the case was the first he was aware of in Pakistan of fetus-in-fetu, where a fetus has grown inside another in the womb. "It is extremely rare to have two fetuses being discovered inside another," Abbasi told The Associated Press, adding that he did not know what caused the medical abnormality. "Basically, it's a case of triplets, but two of the siblings grew in the other." The baby comes from Abbotabad, about 30 miles north of Islamabad. She is the fifth child of a woman in her 30s, who was at the hospital to be with her daughter. Her father works in the Arabian Gulf. Abbasi said surgeons removed the two partially grown fetuses, totaling about two pounds, that had died at about 4 months. Other fetus-in-fetu cases have been reported elsewhere in the world. A report in a June 2000 issue of the U.S. journal Pediatrics called such occurrences rare and estimated their rate at about 1 per 500,000 births.
  23. LV... we know a ton of new "fans" who are thinking they are going to jimbo's on opening night and getting $500 for LD tickets (even though they aren't getting near that on ebay or stubhub). If you have the time to wander the lot for a bit might be worth it to come down. Even for the playoffs you could get tickets just over face outside. These "fans" who are looking to make a buck are nuts thinking Sox fans who care about the game and the team are going to pay those prices.

    QUOTE(3E8 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 04:39 PM) Sounds like Gary should have been wearing his welder's mask. LOL.. they spent the rest of the show talking about his bee keepers screen. Gangie also got hit. They said he was sitting 6 feet away from her. :puke
