QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) No you didn't say that, but you were talking about how $9,000 was not that much compared to other diamonds. If your husband thought $9,000 was too much money, he would not have bought that engagment ring for you. No matter how much money I make and how much I love my future wife, I don't think I could ever spend that much on a ring. I just see no point in wearing jewlery and obviously see no point in spending that much money on jewlery. If you take a walk in a jewlery store you'll be very shocked to see how much diamonds sell for. That's all the point I was making. As BS said, it's all relative. And if you wouldn't mind, I would appreciate it if you got off the subject of my husband's spending habits.

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 08:27 PM) Well although $9,000 may not seem like a lot to you, I was just thinking about how the adults that I work with make only about $10,000...in an entire year. And that's how much your jewlery costs. It's some shocking juxtaposition. LMAO... now I said it wasn't a lot of money. Good grief. :rolly

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) I'm sure the White Sox got a pretty good deal on these rings and while it may cost you $20k if you wanted one just like it, it didn't cost JR and friends 20k each to buy 432 of them. Diamonds are a tricky business. I know when we went to insure my wife's engagement ring it was appraised over triple what I paid for it. I never told her what I paid, so I actually wasn't persona non grata for a week or so. I hope to God my Acct. Rep didn't get one, I don't think he's worked a day in his life, but I'm sure he did. I actually heard him paged at the park today. I guarantee he didn't answer it. 300% mark-up on 'em baby... Of course they didn't pay that.. "the value" is the key phrase. And LMAO @ the comment about your rep.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) It's all relative. A blue collar worker may think $2000 is a hell of a lot for a diamond ring. $2K is a lot of money regardless of what color you collar.

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 08:15 PM) You have jewlery that costs around $9,000??? I'm sorry how much you might enjoy wearing it, but that is ridiculus. My engagement ring, which I wear every day, and enjoy very much, was more than $9K. $9K is not at all a lot of $ for diamonds. Take a walk in the mall and look at a few.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 08:10 PM) Damn, even if the 3 rings cost a combined 60K (obviously I was way off) the Sox should still easily raise half a million for charities which is great. Its cool JR went all out on these babies. Very awesome indeed. I hope this donation is tax deductable...
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 05:26 PM) Wait, I don't get it. 3 rings are all that he's giving out and those 3 rings cost probably at most 9,000 total (Plus MLB pays something like 1500 per ring and anything over that the team is on the hook for). So they will raise 800,000 less the 9000 in costs which would be 791,000. Obviously there are probably some other expenses that go into it, but if they sell all the tickets they should raise half a million (minimum) for White Sox charities. Pretty cool thing No way they cost combined 9K. I have jewlery that cost in that neighborhood and that ring was 3x the size of my ring. The estimates are rumored to be approx $20k EACH.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 11:20 AM) Hey, did anyone ever buy anything from the Soxtalk store on cafepress? Or was that like Core of the Core, where people talk about buying a ticket and no one actually does? I did. A few polo's and some tank tops.

QUOTE(Brian @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 10:56 AM) Nice writing for Paulie. He is so angry to find out that his mom wasn't his mom, that he has anger for that kid because he heard how much his mom loved him. I've been waiting for a few seasons to see Paulie get a good storyline. Agree. He's been needing something for a long time. Ribbie... where's the analysis..?

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 08:24 AM) Maybe it's because I saw it on a female's hand that it looked kinda feminine. LOL.. next time I'll have Jim model the hardware..

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 07:45 AM) I liked the rings. I would have preferred platinum, but that will do. I would have prefered plat also. 56: I have a habit of being in the right place at the right time. LMB: It does look "eggy" now that you mentioned it, but in the flesh there's nothing "chicky" about it . It's actually more flat on the finger then it looks, and it is way heavy.

Love it!!!

QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 09:13 AM) Its not raining downtown but man it is not exactly warm. Cold and pretty windy...but the storms are supposed to bring a warm front. I'd rather it be 20 with no rain.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 1, 2006 -> 06:08 PM) The saddest part was that she was about to play an April Fool's prank on the fish. She was going to pretend to feed her, but leave the cap on the fish food. Then she looked at Fishy, and said to me - "Dad, Fishy looks weird - is she dead?" My heart broke a little right then. Ugh... bless you parental units.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 1, 2006 -> 06:05 PM) Yeah, we're going to clean out the tank, let it sit for a couple days, then get her a new fish. This experience now has her questioning the mortality of her pet cat. Oh boy... I was a mess for weeks after I had to put my Sam to sleep. I dred routine visits to the vet now.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 1, 2006 -> 08:52 AM) My daughter's fish died today. First time I had to console her over a dead pet. It was really sad. I feel so bad for her. Awww.. It's been a bad week for little critters. First QP's hampster, then your daughter's fish.
