  1. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 09:40 AM) Boston, Foreigner and REO Speedwagon come to mind as groups that were also played to the point of overkill. Also Journey. Bad Company also.
  2. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 09:32 AM) i will defer to your knowledge here, but various quotes down through the years have led me to believe some teammates weren't always behind him. that's probably true about every player on every roster, though. Paul and David Wells. Paul has a history of loose lips without merit, and Wells is an idiot. Of course guys you spend 200+ days a year with you get frustrated with at times.. but when push comes to shove I've seen a lot of them happier then pigs in s*** that Frank is/was their teammate.
  3. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 09:26 AM) everyone knows what kind of guy frank is. that's been clear for a long, long time. he's not a great clubhouse guy, and he's not a great teammate. True thing is.. his teammates love him. This isn't an issue with them. It's an issue with Kenny - an issue BTW Kenny created 3 years ago.
  4. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 09:04 AM) I do that stuff all the time. If I didn't do it, it would never get done. You're a bit past the target age I'm referring to Yas..
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 08:57 AM) Hey I'm actually somewhat skilled to the point where I can adequately do all 3 of those things! Sexist Ahh the sniff test, mac & cheese, and paper plates
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 08:53 AM) Ok I can go with that. It just seems more like he was cracking jokes during the interview, and went a bit over the top a time or two. I think we've all done that at some time or another trying to be funny, so I'll let it slide. But you can't be dissing women like that too often, this isn't 1955 and plus, most of you bite. Stuff like that, we (at least I) can take. And it's to silly to believe. Like you guys would do your own laundry, cook your own meals, or do your own dishes..
  7. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 08:45 AM) Aww come on Steff! I think honestly he has a dry, stupid, and sarcastic sense of humor that doesn't come across well in print. However if he keeps this up, I will tend to come towards your side. I think the dishes comment was hysterical. From talking to him I know he's got an off sense of humor... but I don't think the comment was necessary, and if I was a mother I wouldn't find humor in it. It makes her sound like she's taking advantage.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 08:36 AM) I think I am going to totally shock some people, but I will applaude him. He was the face of this franchise for 16 years, for better or for worse. He put up some incredible numbers at a time where not everyone was juiced up, and everyone knows that all of his numbers are for real. How many other of the leading hitters over this time can you really say this about? I'd be shocked and disappointed if you didn't.
  9. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) Wait till Steff sees reads this thread. Move over Willie Harris. Brian Anderson is her new whipping boy. Not even going to bother. I'm sure his mother will beat his ass when she sees the comment about her not chipping in for the TV's. No sense in making an issue of it.. he made himself look like a bigger idiot then I ever could.
  10. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 08:20 AM) lol I find it funny that people took this whole thing and turned it into what would Mark Buehrle do if he were to leave the White Sox. Most all of the Thomas apologists in this thread had nothing more to say so they had to switch things to some hypothetical bulls***. Pretty sad if you ask me. And the ring leader was missy from TP.. :rolly There's some sad in this thread, that's for sure.. can you recognize your roll?
  11. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 10:10 PM) Had they listened to my bottom line, the conversation would be over. Your bottom line doesn't mean anything against others opinions. If you recognized that, this conversation would be over.
  12. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 09:51 PM) Do you really think that Buehrle would ever be in the same situation as thomas? The answer is NO. There is no debating Buehrle and thomas. This has nothing to do with the ace. I guess we'll see when it comes time for Mark's next payday... Never say never...
  13. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) You obvisoulsy haven't either. Touche'... QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 12:29 PM) Meh. Doesn't bother me. I'll just remember that he was the best hitter in the long history of our team and move on. :rolly
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 08:38 PM) So was I. After an egg becomes an embryo, it is capable of growing, but not capable of survival on its own. In fact, some embryos wind up being created but not successfully implanting themselves in the proper spot, and thus wind up not surviving. Hard to call that murder, IMO. Just like it's hard to call the tens of thousands of frozen embryos which are created and destroyed at fertility clinics murder since they're simply not viable on their own. Oh, I agree with you on that aspect. I was leaning more towards when the personal decision is made as to when the egg becomes a life. I haven't read all the posts in this thread.. anyone have a stance on eptopic (sp?)pregnancy...? When that is terminated, is that abortion also?
  15. QUOTE(vandy125 @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) I usually do not hear that when talking about abortion. A lot of people will not make that distinction. It seems to me that many people do not think of a fetus as life. That is why they are willing to say that abortion should be legal until such and such arbritrary point that they think is the beginning of intelligible life. That is what my point is referring to. I think that destroying even a fetus is a very grave matter because it involves life. Many people do not go that far. Right. Which is why I said the argument is a personal one.

    Films

I know I've mentioned this before, but I just watched Friday Night Lights again... Love it.
  17. QUOTE(minors @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 12:53 PM) Because his crimes are DP crimes and his Religion can not have any influence on his decision. If he chooses not to use the DP because he doesn't think it fits the crimes is completely different and I have no problem with only when he invokes religion as his reason. Getting a bit ahead of yourself, aren't you? He hasn't done anything yet.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) Yes, but it's also scientifically proven that if you put a fetus on a chair in your dining room and make it dinner...it won't live through dinner. Was that the question...? If it was I apologize because I was referring to the debate over when the egg becomes a "life".
  19. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 09:55 AM) Compliant with the laws of the state of California, he believed this man deserved the DP. Now, however, his religious outlook has changed and that should not be the deciding factor. Religion is not supposed to be part of the equation as per the US Constitution. This, my friends, is really what separation of church and state means. EDIT: This is a prime example of where separation of church and state is truly applicable. Which is why I commented that it might be a good idea if he stepped off the bench on this case. Regardless, the law does not state that he has to give the death penalty. That appeared to be the question/point. That in itself has nothing to do with his beliefs.
  20. QUOTE(vandy125 @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 08:43 AM) I always hear "Who are we to tell someone what to do?", but I am wondering, who are we to decide when life begins? Where do we make that distinction? What happens when we are wrong? What circumstances are you referring to? And wrong about what? It's been scientifically proven as to when the fertilized egg becomes a fetus. The argument after that is a personal one.
  21. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) Sounds kind of where I am on this topic. I, myself, do not believe in having abortions (except in cases of rape and incest), but I would not stop some one else from having one if they, themselves, are okay with it and can accept all the consequences that come with it. Who am I to force my beliefs on to them? I agree with you QP, though I would extend the criteria past rape and incest. Had my step-daughter not interrupted her first pregnancy she would be dead right now. As well, serious questions have arisen relating to Joey's birth as well. That child suffered a tremendous amount of pain... as well did we. Compelling argument on both sides.
  22. QUOTE(minors @ Feb 25, 2006 -> 12:37 AM) Then that judge needs to be removed from the bench he took an oath to honor the laws in that state. By deciding not to give someone the DP even though his crimes are DP crimes, just on the grounds of his or her religon is not following the law. It is his duty, awarded to him, in compliance with the laws of the state to consider the DP... not an automatic to sentence him to it.
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) wow, some of you people are unreal, this starts as a funny thread and moves into an argument over corporate policy? wow. LOL.. Why the wow? Typical day at Soxtalk.
  24. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 04:39 PM) Must be the different industries were are from. My industry is specifically impacted by this. And it's not the way you've presented it.
  25. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 06:08 PM) If the sox traffic was causing the same type of issues that our cubby fans were doing with opening up hundreds of sessions and it impacted connections to the mainframe, sure. Oddly the same people who were doing these types of activites are the same people that complain the loudest that the network is slow. OMG.. LMAO!!!
