    QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) I dont tip cab drivers, is that bad?? Uh hu.
  4. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) Yeah, I said what I said. So what? There is always a lot of credential showing on this board when this attendance topic comes up. Steff is usually the first one to say how far away from the park she lives and how many games she goes to. I admire her and her husbands dedication. And I did NOT make a blanket statement about everyone else's opinion, so stop putting words in my mouth. Note that I said there's a lot of credenial showing and chips on shoulders in this thread. Exactly how does that equate to "everyone else's opinion"? Try getting it straight next time. Jim... shut yer pie hole. The comment was dripping with sarcasm.
  5. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) Did I SAY I missed everyone elses? I understand what everyone is saying here, it's not that difficult. Different people are gonna have different takes on this topic, so be it. Whoopsie.. forgot you need to SEE the green text.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) When I emailed him last week, it did sound like he was going to stop by. He confirmed about an hour ago.
  7. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) Does anyone else think that brooks is gona stop by the patio party to say hi, i think he will, thats just the type of guy he is He says yes.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) Don't worry tonight I have a camera and a couple of baseballs. Umm.. you should bring the glove. We're definitely in HR range. And umm.. baseballs...? You want my autograph, again?
  9. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) Nuke voices his opinions??? When??? LMAO. POTM material there.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) Your wrong...this is what he had to say about the rest of our opinions... :rolly Pffttt.. grumpy old man. Pay him no attention... :rolly
  11. One of the gals over at WSI got a table with nametags set up at the entrance to the patio so if yer interested be sure to stop by and tag yourself.
  12. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) I will be there as well, does anyone want to try and out throw me at the pitch speed on the concorse??? If you want to look for me I will be in the gray Rowand Jersey...I cant wait for some fun at the ballpark and hopefully a white sox winner!!! Jim usually does that when we sit out there... and I bet Wilkes will probably do it also. Just watch out if SS2K goes over there.. he's a little wild with his release..
  13. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) I understood Mike's statement completely. You understood Mike's "opinion" completely... but missed everyone elses....?
  14. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) Do you have the flu? I can't swallow jell-o. Don't know why. . . Hung over something awful. It had fruit in it. Pretty good. I haven't had jello in at least 10 years.
  15. Strawberry jello for breakfast... not so bad.
  16. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) No doubt about it. Should be at least 20,000. Just curious, what would repsectable attendance for playing the lowly royals in your opinions. However many can afford to be there. Going to games doesn't mean s*** in terms of how much of a fan you are. I was as much a fan of the Sox when I lived in Florida. By the definition presented here I guess Jason is a fairweather since he only comes in for the "big games". :headshake And don't even get me started on the likes of Alex and DBAHO - who has NEVER been to a Sox game at Comiskey IN PERSON. Effing fairweathers. Good grief.. we have to hear this BULLs*** from Cub fans... now it's being spewed right in our own back yard FROM our own back yard.
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 09:27 AM) However it is worded doesn't matter. 15,000 people at a game with the best record in baseball in September is embarassing. I don't care if the Stickney little league B-team is on the field, there should be people in the seats. All this does is prove groups like the Tribune Company and Jay Mariotti right. Yea.. it does f***ing matter, to me, and I don't appreciate being lumped in a group you called fairweathers.
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 09:19 AM) oops...too late, I already called him out I had to walk away for a few minutes...
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 09:11 AM) I wasn't there, nobody was there. Sox fans are fairweather fans, he is actually helping me prove my point. I have my list of excuses just like any of the other 25,000 blue seats that were there last night. I'd appreciate if you revised your comments here. I'm sure you meant to say something like "many casual Sox fans are fairweather"...
  20. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 09:15 AM) That should have been in green...I love being 15 minutes from the park...Viva La Stickney!
  21. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 09:14 AM) Its easy for you, you live so close to the park. Plainfield... close. Not quite. You are closer than we are.
  22. Excuse you...
  23. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 09:07 AM) Apparently I love seeing the Royals play...I was there Tuesday and I'll be there tonight. I can't wait to see Mike Sweeney, and....and....um....Mike Sweeney. Last night, tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday for us. And I don't really care who we're playing. Just get the W.
  24. AARON ROWAND NAMED WHITE SOX RECIPIENT OF THE 2005 ROBERTO CLEMENTE AWARD CHICAGO – Aaron Rowand is the White Sox recipient and one of 30 MLB nominees for the 2005 Roberto Clemente Award, which honors the memory of Roberto Clemente and is given annually to the Major League Baseball player who combines outstanding skills on the baseball field with devoted work in the community. "Aaron Rowand is the kind of man you imagine a baseball player to be," said Christine O’Reilly, White Sox senior director of community relations. "He plays with his heart every time he takes the field, and he embraces our fans and our outreach initiatives with the infectious enthusiasm of a class president. He deserves every ounce of success he has achieved, and his outstanding efforts on and off the field only lend further credibility to his role as a treasured member of the White Sox family." Aaron’s infectious attitude and hard-working nature have made him a favorite among his teammates and fans. Aaron is heavily involved in the White Sox Training Academy, the club’s youth baseball and softball facility, and lends his support to annual White Sox Charities fundraising events, including Picnic in the Park and the Field of Greens Golf Outing. In 2004, Aaron and his wife Marianne volunteered at a Food Drive benefiting the Greater Chicago Food Depository and he participated in White Sox Day at Taste of Chicago. This year, Aaron has again become one of the club’s most reliable community ambassadors, participating in a baby blanket donation program at a local hospital, attending the kickoff of the Training Academy summer camps and taping a PSA for Kindervision. In addition, this year he has lent his support to a partnership between the White Sox and the Boys and Girls Clubs, where he works with Scott Podsednik and Jermaine Dye to support the Keystone and Torch Clubs, which focus on developing character, leadership and life skills in 11- to 18-year olds. The trio visited with club members, signed autographs and treated 250 kids to a White Sox game. As part of the League-wide celebration, the Roberto Clemente Day logo will appear on the bases, on commemorative home plates and on the official dugout lineup cards. Also, in response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, the White Sox, along with other Clubs playing at home today, will host an in-stadium collection drive to give fans an opportunity to donate to the Red Cross relief effort. Major League Baseball will match the contributions up to $1 million. Major League Baseball believes it is fitting to devote Roberto Clemente Day to the relief effort, because Clemente, a Hall of Famer and one of the game’s greatest players, gave his life while on a mission to help earthquake victims in Nicaragua in 1972. One local recipient of the Roberto Clemente Award was selected from each club, and John Hancock Financial Services will donate $2,500 in each of their names to the charity of his choice. Rowand’s donation will benefit the American Red Cross. A panel of dignitaries, including Vera Clemente, wife of the late Hall of Famer, and Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig, will select the national winner from the 30 local award recipients. The national winner of the Roberto Clemente Award will be announced at a press conference prior to Game Three of the 2005 World Series and will receive a $25,000 donation from John Hancock to the charity of his choice. John Hancock also will make a $30,000 contribution to Roberto Clemente Sports City in Puerto Rico in the name of the national winner.
