  1. I have to say though: our entire staff throws a one-hitter? Against Cleveland? Definitely sounds like a silver lining to me...
  2. Yes. As a jersey collector (I have nine Sox jerseys), you have to shell out for the vintage ones unless you find one (unlikely) on Ebay. $200 seems like a lot--it is--but consider that you'll be wearing it forever, so in that light it doesn't seem like a bad deal. At least that's how I talked myself into buying the 1959 jersey, which I do love and get many compliments on at the park. Next year? I want that 1968 one. I tried for a year to find a 1959 jersey used or on Ebay--no dice. Not saying you shouldn't try, but you might as well buy it new. The only jerseys I see a lot on Ebay are "replica" versions of the current Sox jerseys. Meh.
  3. I'm feeling pretty good. Why? The pitching has been excellent. Danks looks like a real #5. The bullpen, save for Bobby's meltdown that one night, has been good. The bats will come around soone or later. Those bats, and some bad defense, are what cost us today. No need to panic.
  4. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 07:05 PM) How sad that Uribe and Pods (our weak links) are the hottest hitters. Actually that's sort of encouraging if you think about it. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 07:06 PM) What about the 12 straight seasons with sell outs or something like that? He's right, my baseball geek co-worker was talking about this today. How they don't draw that much these days, allegedly.
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 07:05 PM) It's Cleveland, they don't actually give a s*** about the Indians there. Hence the 25th best attendance in basebal last season. You know what, duh. You're right. I forgot about that.
  6. Why is it so empty there? It's 49 degrees.
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 06:59 PM) Is flanders hitting his drums up in the upper deck tonight. I havent hear the mighty bongo call of the lilly white warrior, HIMHAVEM NOLIFE WOLF I think they left him in Milwaukee. What is UP with all the strikeouts this year? Is it just me, or is this abnormal for us?
  8. Man Thome cannot lay off that low and inside stuff!
  9. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 06:51 PM) LOL! That's going to be in my dreams tonight, dude!
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 06:48 PM) Good grief...nice energy by our pitcher/catcher. I'm thinking the same thing. They just look... bored. Maybe it's the cold weather. Oh well. Another Hawkism: "If you pitch inside, you're gonna hit guys." Thanks, Hawk!
  11. I miss having Blackjack in the booth!
  12. I love the Old Comiskey with a passion but yes, it was time for a new park. Can't complain about the new one, love that too.
  13. I like the new slogan. Grinders was worn out. "Back to the grind" was so NOT sexy.
  14. QUOTE(PlunketChris @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 10:26 PM) I had this conversation with someone earlier today.. so it's weird that this popped up. But I'm pretty sure that once we won the world series, we (sox fans) stopped caring so much about Cubs/Sox and more about Sox/Tigers/Indians/Twins. It's fun to win the season series, but it doesn't really mean a damn thing. Bingo. Once we won the WS, the "rivalry" seemed irrelevant. I remember being at the games last year and there wasn't that tension, because we didn't care. The only thing that made that series remotely interesting was the sucker punch. Other than that, it was just any other team. Which doesn't mean I won't be at Wrigley next month talking s*** like nobody's business!!! C'mon! Priorities, dude...
  15. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 04:17 PM) "In the End", they are just a "Fly by Night" making "Permanent Waves" "Closer to the Heart". You are right, how they are not in the RnR HoF is beyond me. Online petition here: http://www.petitiononline.com/xanstar/ Rush will get in the HOF sooner or later--they should be. I'm not worried about it.
  16. So let me make sure I understand... this could still happen for two games?
  17. This would have been the funnest Sox game of the year. As it stands, the Indians, the fans and the Sox are all going to miserable for the next three days. To show that I'm not a hypocrite, had the Sox put last Saturday's game in Milwaukee--I would have gone no questions asked. Being in that kind of weather--20 degree wind chill--was no fun at all. Football is the all-weather game, not baseball. Damn. This would have been fun. Watch 'em get snowed out... then where are they gonna make up all these games, LOL.
  18. Obviously Lee hasn't been to the park since the renovations or he'd never say that. But hey, it's our opporurtunity to make him a... no, I can't do this... fine, but no more after this please!!... to make him a... New World Man.
  19. I hope these games get snowed out so they can eat their decision.
  20. That "Powder" guy outfielder for Texas that always kills us.
  21. Does everybody realize that Cleveland is still there right now, playing a game? They wouldn't even have to leave.
  22. I have been praying for this since last week. Plus I've always wanted to see Miller Park. I'm ABSOLUTELY IN and we need to look for each other if this happens.
  23. I think DJ is quite enjoyable when Hawk's not around. Like night and day. Even better if you've ever heard him do a FOX Sox game.
  24. Booo! I like BJ/DJ way better than Hawk. Except for his home run call.
