I'm pretty happy with Danks as #5. I'm kind of tired of all the speculation and really just want to play ball at this point.
-
I love Uribe and there's nobody else I'd want at shortstop, save for his so-so year last year. Check out the Sunday Sun-Times for an article on him, BTW. Just read it.

Oh CRAP don't tell me that, LOL! Well on the upside, didn't Thorton have control issues before Coop got a hold of him?
-
So what are the drawbacks to Danks? He tends to be a bit wild, doesn't he?

I really, really like that idea of leaving those blue seats. Classic. -
Yeah I always felt awful for that guy. I didn't think he deserved what Ozzie did to him that game. I wish him well.

Here's my favorite memory of that game BAB: I called Paulie's grand slam. For some freakin reason I had it in my head and announced to the bar "He's taking this one outta here." And so he did. For some reason also I also knew that Gooch was gonna homer off of Wells in the second Boston game, which I WAS at, and I have never seen the Cell go bats*** like that before. Although I wasn't at the WS games. -
Ouch I just looked at the box score for today. Five runs in two innings? I don't think it's going to be Floyd.
-
Pardon me for coming in late; is May 26 the Core of the Core thing?
-
My other confidence about Danks is that we are talking about a team with Don Cooper as pitching coach. If anybody can unlock the potential, Coop can.

Would you make this trade with the Phillies ?

I just pushed Christ off the bicycle. Bring Rowand back! In all honesty I'm not sure where we'd put him though. Erstad seems like a lock; what's the point of having him ride the bench. And now I will retire from "BRING A-ROW BACK!" rhetoric until the ASB. Thankyavermuch. -
When you guys say last to first, what determines the order?
-
I like Danks too. I also like the idea of two lefties as well.

Have an opening day beer - at Jimbo's!
LVSoxFan replied to Al Lopez's Ghost's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I can report that at Comerica in Detroit, last year it was like $7 per beer but they were huge beers (obviously not worth $7, but they were big). I forget what they were at KC but probably cheap, like everything in that stadium, including the doofs on the field. ZING! Oops I should shut up because they owned us last year. I'm tellin ya though: this $6 per beer (think of it: that'll buy a six pack on the outside) is probably a good incentive to cut down on beers. -
Thanks Balta.

Are you kidding?!?!?! $6.25 for a beer!!!!! No way! -
Can somebody explain--I know, mea culpa--how waivers works? Does it mean that basically we have a claim to a player, but if we put him on waivers, we're giving up that claim and anybody can try and get him?

Oh man I would jump on Coco Crisp. It'd be weird seeing him in a Sox uniform, but that's the kind of outfielder I'd like. Can you imagine? Him in left and Dye in right? Wow. You're right though. It will never happen. -

I know everybody bags on Rowand but I'd love to see him back. However, no way would I trade MacDougal. That guy is an insurance policy in the bullpen. -
Sorry I forgot to post yesterday upon reading this, but excellent job. Good article.

Wow does the park EVER look different! Nice! LOVE the fact that they left the blue ones where Pods' and Paulie's home runs landed--excellent touch. Can't wait to see it in person... WEEK FROM MONDAY, YESSS! -

We knew this, although somebody said they were open for all season; this piece makes it seem like they're only safe through April. Anyone? -
Whatever happens, I hope somebody settles in and we don't revert to that revolving-door five-hole from 2004. That was BRUTAL. Felix Diaz, anyone? Arnie Munoz? Ugh...
-
Oh gawd not the attendance thing with Cub fans again. They'll always outdraw us. So what? That has little to do with the quality of the team. OBVIOUSLY. That aside, I love going to April games. Some of my favorite games are games when attendance was low but the crowd was LOUD AS HELL ANYWAY, and I'd be wearing my gloves and thermal tee under the jersey but happy as hell to be at a Sox game. Trust me, there'll be plenty of sold-out, crowded and obnoxious games all summer, enjoy the days of April. I always do. On some of those games like the Cubs series or sellouts like 1/2 Way to St. Pat's you'll be missing those sparsely attended April games, LOL...

Well brothers, I received my '59 #11 jersey today and love it. Looks great. For a wool jersey it is not itchy at all and it looks bad-ass. Yeah they're expensive as hell but I'll have it for decades, so it was worth it. BTW the sizing is different when dealing with Mitchell & Ness. I wear a 44 comfortably but with theirs this is a 46 and it is the same fit. So if you order from these guys, take that into account. JUST IN TIME FOR OPENING DAY! Woo hoo!
